Will continue voting for Italian Summer until it's gone.
For the other, I went with Annabel Lee (least good of what's left).

Secret Love (always skip) and Annabelle Lee (the song that goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.
I listen up to the nice bridge and quickly turn it off. It's sooo redundant.)

Wide Sargasso Sea and Italian Summer. A few bad lyrics ruined IS for me (even though, I do love the track) and same for WSS.
The remaining 6 are flawless.

Ah Jondalar, you simply haven't accepted the awesomeness that is the "Annabel Lee" coda. I love the continually different drum punctuations that Mick does, the building of intensity with each iteration of "I lie down...".......this, and the bridge, are what elevate "Annabel Lee" from a good song to a great one.

I love everything about Annabel Lee, but my absolute FAVORITE part on the whole album occurs in this song, it's on one of the later "I lay down by the side"s and when she holds out 'side' her voice slips into a really loose, rich, detached vibrato that you really don't hear anywhere else on the album. It's awesome.
I didn't pick up on it in the first few listenings, it took some time before I actually even noticed it.. but.. now I hear it every time.

Agreed. There's little parts here and there that make this song really cool. Mr. Mick fleetwood is doing some fantastic time keeping! With a slight time edit this song could be awesome. Because it is slightly too long but not to the point where it completely ruins it for me. It feels to me like a good party that you know you should of left maybe a half an hour ago but you're having fun so you decide to stay anyway

The bridge is the best thing about Annabelle Lee and it doesn't build as noticeabley as Wide Sargossa or have the sophistication of Everybody Loves You. Maybe if they cut the song down by a minute or two, it would pop more. Its got one of the least interesting endings, along with For What It's Worth, of any of the songs from the album. But Stevie sales it with her story about it. It reminds me of Affairs of the Heart.

I agree about the length and think most of the songs should have been shortened. But I think WSS should have been shortened by 5:36.

 But I agree. Most of the songs didn't need to go too far over the 4 minute mark, with a few exceptions, like Soldier's Angel, YMBTO, etc, that had length because of the words. GAG especially didn't need to be so freaking long - it's the longest song on the whole CD - and Annabel Lee, Moonlight, New Orleans and ELY could have a minute or so shaved off to each of them without sacrificing much.
However, I don't mind Annabel Lee's length at all, but I can see how it gets repetitive. Same with New Orleans. ELY.. could have been one of those rambling songs with no real chorus and been better off, and shorter. Moonlight could have lost the 'strange, she sat in a chair for months just staring' and would still have been awesome. Keep the 'he slows down' part because that kind of makes the song.

Yes. Secret Love is a nice little pop song, But YMBTO is sophistication from the 1st note to the last ("and we were Magic") It's probably more of an acquired taste for some, but imo it has the best vocal's from Stevie and the girls of all the tracks, with Moonlight a close second.

*tsk tsk* this survivor is getting downright bitter.
btw I love New Orleans too, and did not vote for its dismissal once. Though one must admit, this has been one of the harder Stevie solo survivors - not only based upon the quality of these songs, but their fresh influence on our summer impressions.

Yes, I agree. The genius of Dave's production on tracks such as Annabel Lee and Ghosts Are Gone is the way he gives us the feel of Stevie Live. Linds might have cut Annabel Lee to Rhiannon lengths, but live she would have given us the "I lie down" round. Now, we have that Stevie impulse recorded for posterity.
I voted Secret Love, which is lovely but not exactly earthshattering. And Wide Sargasso Sea, which I DO think is too long.

I'm fascinated that YMBTO has gotten as many votes as Secret Love.
I've warmed to Secret Love after hearing it live, but that song still seems a touch immature and bland to me.
YMBTO is damn near flawless.
