I'll be there!

I'll be on sharon and lori's side row L seats 11 and 12. OK seats certainly not the best. I really hope the crowd is rocking, I refuse to sit down for anybody, except if mama asks me herself. I despise going to a concert and someone telling me to sit down. This is my 3rd solo Stevie concert, I have had the pleasure of the stage walk and held her hand for a nano second in 1994. Saw her again in 2007. I plan on singing every word to every song at the top of my lungs, so watch out Virginia. Its the next to last show i believe so I hope the crowd is totally into it.

i'll be there in spirit. I had other plans from a long time ago.. in a galaxy far away.. i really wish I could make it to the jiffy, but the Irish game won't be over until after 7.. found this online in the WP = they always review records right before the artist comes to town..

STEVIE NICKS
Album review: "In Your Dreams"

Stevie Nicks, who began winning hearts in the 1970s when she and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac, is back with her first solo album in a decade, "In Your Dreams." It's full of her trademark songs of love and longing, but the album is enriched by her experiences.

Consider the song "Soldier's Angel," which flows from solemn guitars that echo Nicks's world-weary vocals reflecting a soldier's mother, his wife and the soldier himself. Nicks's heartache is palpable, likely gained through her extensive charity work for the military.

Not that the album ever gets too heavy.

With "Annabel Lee," Nicks is right back to form. The song opens with soft keyboards that seem to almost sonically mimic a sprite before they give way to flowing guitars and Nicks's voice, this time as a maiden who lived with no other thought than to love and be loved. On "Cheaper Than Free," Nicks teams with producer Dave Stewart (the Eurythmics) for a duet in which they relish "what's better than alone, going home."

"In Your Dreams" is pure Nicks but with a more mature edge. It's a sound that's easy to love.

Keith,
I'm sorry to hear that you will miss seeing Stevie in VA. Its hard to believe it's been 10 years since the TISL tour at that same venue. I hope you got to catch her on this tour at another city.

Just got back from Jiffy Lube Live about an hour ago! What an awesome experience!

I met Sandy of "The SandyMac version of Stand Back" fame there, plus a couple of other dyed-in-the-wool Stevie fans and I got to do The "Edge" Rush for the SECOND time! And Stevie actually reached BACK to touch my hand! It was AMAZING!

Hi Everyone! OMG Stevie was on FIRE! Strong vocals, very energetic, lots of smiles, and cracked a few jokes. I got a lot on video and I was in a primo spot and got a lot of video straight line of site view.

Soldier's Angel was especially touching and her delivery of "no one walks away from this BATTLE!" WAS very intense and emotional. Got the whole thing on video.

concert rocked last night! stood & rocked except for Soldier's Angel only because i thought it 2 b appropriate 4 Stevie's delivery & performance. i admire Stevie's unconditional support for our serving & retired military & the audience did as well. Soldier's Angel IMO was a show stopper. Although i think ghosts are gone was my favorite performance and maybe Moonlight, just wish she sang the whole songs. as far as the crowd. jiffy lube live has 10,000 SEATS & when i turned back from the stage, all i could see were people so i'm sure that made Stevie happy besides people rocking during IYD songs. i love the moonlight/IYD cd label shirt which i bought. what's strange is that the shirts don't have "in your dreams tour" on them but oh well. i also bought an autographed IYD for $30 just cause i didn't have one. hopefully it will count towards Billboard but i doubt it. rock hard @ the beach tonight & end the tour on the highest note!

Just got back home to NC, all I can say is WOW! Mama's voice was perfection last nite. I had a rocking time. Everyone around me was there to stand and sing and have a good time. I don't think you could of asked for a better performance from our muse. Don't know if she was serious lol about running for mayor of Manassas or not, she said things would change. The curfew keep her moving along. I could have listened to her ramble on all night long. She said she'd be back out to see us all again, we can only hope!!!!

The show last night was absolutely incredible! I couldn't have asked for a better performance. She was totally on her game. The only time I sat the down the whole night was during Soldier's Angel. That song never really did it for me on the cd but it was completely different seeing her do it live. The energy in the place was amazing and really touching. I'm so thankful to my sister for getting me tickets for my birthday so I could see her on this tour. So amazing!

This show was the best solo tour/concert that I have seen since 1983. Stevie sounded the best and was the happiest I have ever seen her live in the 33 years I have been seeing her perform. Rock On Gold Dust Woman.

I am going to try if I can use some editing software to split these two songs up and re-post as separate songs. (Landslide/Ghosts are Gone)
Had to record Landslide because it was dedicated to Sandra and that is as close to a Stevie dedication I will ever get (since my full first name is Sandra too) :)

I already posted my Bristow concert review but I just thought of one more thing. Didin't someone on this board say something like they wished the bus in the For What Its Worth video would stop and pick them up? Stevie said she recently got a fan letter stating that same thing. Someone in Stevie's camp must be checking out our forum. What ya think?

I've seen several people say that, including myself on Twitter. Lol! What I want to know is where are people sending fan letters?? With Twitter and Facebook I forgot that people actually send in letters. But it's sweet that she's actually reading them. I wish her people would check her "official" Twitter account more often.

Stevie Nicks, in her first D.C.-area solo concert since the 2006 “Gold Dust Tour,” played Jiffy Lube (formerly Nissan) in a Live Nation-backed concert Saturday night that found the beguiling singer/songwriter lavishly showcasing her new album but also parsing her set list with plenty of hits to mostly keep everyone happy.

Copies of the set list floating through the crowd before the show — as well as reviews from other stops on the current “In Your Dreams Tour” — were a tad misleading. While Nicks technically only sang 14 songs (six from the new record), it didn’t feel as skimpy as it looked on paper. With several anecdotes peppered throughout, two lengthy solos (one keyboard, another percussion) and a few lengthy outros that gave the band time to jam while Nicks changed clothes, it felt pretty robust, clocking in at nearly two hours. With Nicks’ impressive discography, both solo material and her decades of work in Fleetwood Mac, I’d hoped she’d slip in a few more songs but the evening admittedly had a nice flow. She never seemed rushed, never plowing through her set like she was crossing off a grocery list.

The evening’s most pleasant surprises were twofold: first, the proximity to Walter Reed nearly choked Nicks up as she introduced the jangly, sparse “Soldier’s Angel,” an ode to the troops that, despite its faithful live rendering, worked better live than it does on the album. Second, Nicks’ vocals were astoundingly sturdy. She didn’t wail and tear it up like she did in the old days, but there was a strength and shimmer to them I’d never heard before. She was aware of it too and credited vocal coach Steve Real, with whom she duetted on “Leather and Lace,” with the improvement. You never expect bell-like clarity from Nicks — the sandy patches in her timbre are a big part of her calling card — but she’s still finding largely untapped wells of reserve in her instrument in her fourth decade of performing. Pretty amazing. It was most noticeable on long, climactic notes on “Moonlight,” chestnut “Landslide” and show closer “Love Is.” The only disappointment is that she and cohort Dave Stewart didn’t capture more of it on the new album, where it’s only hinted at.

The new cuts — she’d been out of the studio for nearly a decade — stood up surprisingly well to her classic cuts. She also seemed to genuinely enjoy herself. At times she defers too much to Mac-mate Lindsey Buckingham when they perform together and can come off nearly catatonic compared to his wild man stage antics, but Saturday night she helmed her tight, nine-piece band in a sizzling, exquisitely paced show.

Stevie’s set:
1. Stand Back
2. Secret Love
3. Dreams
4. Moonlight
5. Gold Dust Woman
6. Soldier’s Angel
7. Annabel Lee
8. For What It’s Worth
* piano interlude
9. Rhiannon
10. Landslide
11. Ghosts Are Gone
* band intros
12. Leather and Lace
* percussion solo
13. Edge of 17
14. Love Is (encore)

I saw this show and Toledo and she was fabulous. Not sure if anyone saw the stuffed cockatoo that I was able to give to her during the edge walk - it was just like the bird on the cover of Bella Donna - she said thank you when she took it from me.

Stevie Nicks, Live in Virginia
Few artists bring back fine memories of days gone by coupled with new songs that keep shows edgy and lively. Enter Stevie Nicks, the legendary songwriter and vocalist with Fleetwood Mac and a major solo artist in her own right who put on a fine Saturday night show for her fans at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia on September 3, 2011.

Anyone who’s been to Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, for a concert has run through a gamut of challenges. The venue is a long haul from civilization, parking can be a nightmare and visitors are funneled from a major D.C. area highway into a squeeze play of bumper-to-bumper traffic. There’s also the recent new policy that’s abolished tailgating…a favorite past time of concertgoers and one that’s prompted a protest by Parrot Heads to steer clear of the place.

As frustrating as those things can be, when Nicks took the stage around 9:00 p.m. at the cavernous venue, everything was forgiven and the spotlight was laser focused on Stevie and her band. Clad in her signature witchy-gothic black lace dress and a fetching bright red shawl, she owned the night.

Opening the show with “Stand Back,” Stevie’s hit from her 1983 album, The Wild, which was clearly designed to get the crowd up and dancing and offered relief after a forgettable performance from Michael Grimm, a popular swamp rocker who took home the America’s Got Talent crown in 2010. From then on, her performance sustained a series of lulls and peaks, the peaks thundering down with fire and lightning emergent from four epic Fleetwood Mac songs in “Dreams,” “Gold Dust Woman,” “Rhiannon,” and “Edge of Seventeen (White Winged Dove).” Her band was tight and emotionally tethered to Nicks as she had her way with the crowd, although the Fleetwood Mac songs were extended with instrumental intros and outros that seemed to distract from and marginalize their original brilliance.

A crowd favorite, “Landslide,” was moving and all the more so when Nicks offered that it was her father’s favorite song.

The Grammy Award-winner and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee was keen on showing off some if her new stuff, featuring several tracks off her 2011 album, In Your Dreams (Reprise). Melodic and centered by her narrative style, the songs work their magic with her steel-trap vocals that always reach for the universal while evoking the particular theme of an underdog or a woman who finds herself wrapped in romantic complexities. But, it was mostly her emotive displays of love and affection for each band member that drew us all into her orbit. And as expected, the classic Fleetwood Mac songs more than held their ground given the polished quality of the performances. Stevie’s captivating persona and her fine performances gifted the venue with her legendary style and grace, keeping her already devoted fans engaged throughout the night.
