I found it pretty interesting. I thought the interviewer had some pretty refreshing questions, for the most part. Stevie rambles a lot. She says she can never remember whether Dreams was on the White album or Rumours  of all things to forget.

Tangle In The Night is such a complicated album.

Tangle In The Night is such a complicated album.

I wonder if Stevie actually SAID that, or if it was just transcribed wrong, haha.

OMG, this is my favorite interview EVER!!! Fascinating stuff. And:

what you’re doing is, you’re vibrating the gunk off of your cords, because literally, you create a vibration

I love her for this.

She certainly is blabby but she knows it.

I just love the "Well you're an idiot" part in the about Don Henley and Dreams.

So which generation is Stevie from? Is she from Henley's generation or Stewart's generation? She can't be from Dylan's generation, because in Stevie years, he's about 19 generations behind her!

I think she probably said Dangle in the Night.

Love it! While she's recycling some of her IYD talking points, the fresh little tidbits here and there like her dishing on her intimate conversations regarding her songwriting with Don Henley are priceless. This story reminded me what a pretentious A$$ Don could be & a similar story she told in an interview years ago while writing "Leather And Lace" for Waylon & Jessi while dating Don. He would come in while it was a work in progress and tell her NO, you're going in the wrong direction and give his unsolicited advice treating her like an ingenue. I'm glad she stuck to her guns.

I think she probably said Dangle in the Night.

That's hilarious.

Tango and tangle are not that far apart, when you think of the metaphor that Lindsey was going for, in the night. But your dangle also works, too!

Honey is acidic. I guess that's why it works well to kill germs.

Loved how she said "Lindsey is very much aware," in answer to whether or not he knew ELY was about him.

Interesting that he thought the Dance audience was old. Lindsey, no one had seen you for 10 years. Why would college students be running out to hear someone who hadn't performed since their childhood?

Great interview. Her rambling and circular language just cracks me up.

And Don was like, "Don't say drownding, with the emphasis on the 'd'."

"when was “Dreams”? Was “Dreams” on the first or second record; I can never remember"

Oh Stevie...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets Rumours and the White FM album mixed up.

This was great, thank you for posting. I loved the washES argument. Don't think the song would be the same without washES, sorry Don.

I'm not purchasing this or supporting this, since Stevie is not on the cover.

What's the difference? It's not like purchasing a copy would support Stevie financially ; whether she was on the cover or not. Go buy another copy of IYD instead or something.;)

She put some of her best work since the 1980s and she has not gotten one single magazine cover. Sorry, I'm not buying. I'm not supporting Paul Simon, the critics darling. I will support her for a true achievement.

Love this! One of the best interviews I've read, IMO....and I sort of think "Tangle In The Night" would be a good name for the 'extras' disc :p

Finally - an interview with interesting questions.
How great to finally read an article about Stevie Nicks that doesn't bore us to tears with the same old stories about her relationship and break up with Lindsey Buckingham, or her klonopin and cocaine addictions.

This is all about the music and songwriting - and how she regained control of her voice.
All things that I would have asked her had I ever had a chance to interview her for an article.

Bravo American Songwriter - and thank you for elevating Stevie Nicks to a place where she belongs.

I could be mistaken, but I think this is the first time that Stevie has ever acknowledged the deterioration of her voice. Albeit, a temporary deterioration, now that she has fully restored it.

Yes, it was refreshing! In all fairness, though, it IS a magazine about songwriting. Not sure the general reader of People Magazine would want to read three paragraphs about Steve Real.

There was a reason people (fans and the unconvinced) were on the edge of their seats when they watched The Dance on TV in 1997. A lot of people didn't think they could pull it off and I know I was sort of caught off guard when they played Dreams and especially Silver Springs. I kept waiting for her to screw up and it never happened.
It was clear that she had been working with a vocal coach and I think it's really the only reason she's been able to reinvent herself.
And I think she sounds better now then she did then.

It's pretty amazing if you go back to Tango In The Night or even The Wild Heart album and listen to her singing. She has so much more range and control now.

Maybe she should do an album of standards. I'm still amazed at how great she sounded on At Last from the Walden Woods benefit.

Control, yes.
