I'm teaching my first class at the university & chickenpox is going around. I've had it twice in my life, which of course means I shouldn't worry, but of course the illogical/paranoid part of my brain keeps exclaiming, That's what they say about people who had it once!:lol:
Because of moves related to campus beautification & general bureaucratic incompetence, many of us are now in classrooms where bodies are squeezed together, so I expect to hear about more cases in the near future.
Have you had chickenpox?
Anybody have it during adulthood? (far more dangerous/problematic)
Did reading this thread make you itch/touch your skin?;)

Hey Jake, I had chicken pox when I was about 6 or 7 years old I think. I remember it very vaguely. I'm almost positive that I went to school as well when I had it. :o

Me too, at 6 or 7. And mine was SOOO mild, that I think I only had....less than 10 "eruptions", total. The best thing, was the days I got to stay home from school!

I had it when I was around 8 or 9, the same time as my twin brother. I remember him being very useful, because my mother tapes both of our hands in mittens to avoid us scratching. So we took it in turns holding a fork between our wrists and scratching each other. I'm pretty sure we went to school on the second day of it because after one day we'd already driven the parentals to despair :p

I had it when I was about 6. I'm 32 and I still have a scar on my arm from where I picked at one of the scabs.
Speaking of childhood diseases, I'm the only person I know who's had scarlet fever.

I was almost 20 before I had chicken pox. No one in my family (mom, dad, sister, brother) had had it before. I didn't even know what it was at first!! It itched like Crazy!! I had to wear socks on my hands to keep from scratching!!

I had it when I was 7 or something - my younger brother had it at the same time - fun for my mom, I'm sure!
Jake - you should be good to go. I wouldn't be concerned.

Forgive the Debbie Downer-ism, but I hear that puts you at higher risk of catching it again.:distress:

I feel better now that you put this in writing. :)

What can I say. I’m gifted.
I’ll add that my least favorite episode of Friends is the one where Lisa Kudrow & Charlie Sheen play lovers with chickenpox. Yuck.

If you git the pox, we gunna have to shoot ya, ya know? Cain't have no folks with pox 'round these parts.
:wavey:
I had them when I was 5 or something. Couldn't walk as they were on my feet. I don't have any scars from scratching, but I remember mom putting calomine lotion all over me.

I had it when I was 6, and all I remember is my dad bringing me home a stuffed Garfield. I still have the Garfield! Haha! Sara has had the vaccine, and she's never had pox. Guess it worked! Maybe you should look into this...

Don't worry, your out-in-the-sticks Dallas suburb is safe. ;)
Why did she dump the stuff all over you if only your feet were infected? Was it Paint-Christy-Pink Day? :p

Or maybe having a mom who parades around topless has just kept her away from other human beings, healthy & infected.
BTW, I am all man, but I do needles only as a last resort!
