Where can we get a copy of the radio edit of For What It Is Worth? I like that version better than the one on the album—it's punchier.

Here's a copy of the CD single from ebay. It includes the radio edit and album version.

"This is the 2 track promo CD single for the song "For What It's Worth" from Stevie Nicks, released strictly to radio in 2011. Tracks include: 1. Edit (4:03) 2. Album Version (4:31). No front insert, generic white label back cover inlay with spine. Everything's near mint, never been played. "
So much for Stevie's album promotional on radio! And now the free 2 track promo CD single is being sold.

Before I buy the promo, can you tell me how it is "punchier?" I never got to hear it on that radio website and am so curious to know how it is different. Thanks!

Since it's really not commercially available can it be posted for download here? Would you mind doing that Jondalar?
Thanks, Ricoh

No, do not post the download links to the radio edits here.
Thank you.

If it's a "remix" it might have a different sound to it but usually an "edit" is just the song with some parts cut out of it so it will get more airplay.

It came today. The radio edit is 4:05. The regular version is 4:32. I just like the edit better. It's punchier. I don't know how to upload audio stuff anyway to web. So sorry. Would if I could but wouldn't put it on this site.

When you say it's "punchier" do you just mean that by being shorter it seems like it flows better or does the instrumentation actually sound different than the album version?

I made a video and put it on youtube. It's my first video EVER. You'll have to find it yourself. And keep in mind I have never done this before. I just used the junk I had.

Sorry, I don't know how to embed youtube videos right. I always screw it up. LOL. :blob2:
Nickslive has this to say about it: "Pay attention to about 3:23 where the edit took place removing one of the choruses that repeat... plus the ending of the song has one line where she says "For What It's Worth" removed... Song still sounds good even though about 28 seconds of the song have been removed."
It doesn't sound remixed to me, just edited.

There are other places (like Facebook) where it can be shared. I don't know why the radio edit would be an issue since it's not commercially released. Maybe it's because the original mix is available commercially? I certainly hope Warner Bros. et al isn't giving the owner of this site any grief as I'm pretty sure everyone here has bought multiple copies of In Your Dreams. It's not our fault that they didn't go out of their way to promote it. Music isn't just for the young. Old people still buy music too, no matter what their market research says.

I'm kind of excited. I know the video isn't very good, but now I know how to make one and put it on youtube. I guess I can thank Stevie for that. This is really cool.

What a drag. I thought it was a radio MIX. I was having visions of an improved version, like the Blue Denim radio mix. Oh well, I love the original anyway.
