So it wasn't Fleetwood Mac in Peter Green's era either then lol? Gah. Though, I suppose I understand where she comes from. I'd probably lose interest if Lindsey left for good lol. Oh wait, I did. That's called Behind The Mask and Time. I listened to them once then hid them in the back of my Mac Collection...

As long as we still have Mick & John, I think it's fair to say they are still Fleetwood Mac ;)

Stevie is by far my favorite member of Fleetwood Mac. If she left, I might still buy their records but my interest would be greatly diminished. I'd still think they're "Fleetwood Mac" though, especially considering how many personnel changes the band has been through.
I totally understand why those that prefer Christine would have less interest in the group now, and I also understand why people prefer the Rumours-era line-up. There's definitely something special about that mix of 5 people. But ultimately Fleetwood Mac is Fleetwood Mac as long as Mick and John are the core, and it seems like Christine can't be coaxed back out. I keep hoping though that the band may yet record with her, and then Mick/John/Stevie/Lindsey can go out on the road without her.

I remember hearing that one a few times from family and friends. I can understand considering the impact the Rumours line up had on music and pop culture at that time, and of the Rumours 5 being the most recognizable and maybe most loved incarnation of the Mac. As for myself, being a fan since the mid 70's, I'd probably go see them live not matter what the line up was. I'd just have to.
The Rumours Line up is my favorite however I like them all and enjoyed the Vito/Burnette days as well. For the BTM Tour I really liked when they opened with In the back of my Mind. My favorite memory of the Time group was meeting them all at a small venue(maybe 200 seat theater) in West Palm Beach Florida in 93. I was impressed and followed them up to the Florida Theater in Jacksonville on New Years Day 1994.
Then came 97 and hearing Silver Springs on the radio just felt like the old days again. I loved the Dance video/cd and Tour. I was also fortunate enough to see them both nights at Irvine, CA when it was recorded for the "Dancing Again" Westwood 1 Radio Show. Managed to get a nice black FM Tour jacket that was specific to those shows/Venue(had dates embroidered on it).
I guess we are down to Mick, John, Stevie and Lindsey but I'm fine with that. Say you Will is one of my favorite Mac CD's. Now get back on the road in 2012! (New album would be cool too.):]

Me too Bee! Fleetwood Mac ceased to exist for me when Lindsey left, until he came back. Unlike you though I never even listened to BTM or Time even once - and I've still never heard them, no interest whatsoever! :D

Word to your mama! :xoxo:
I'm sad that no matter how many times I see Fleetwood Mac it will never be what I consider the lineup...the "Fab 5". I miss Christine. :(

Not really the same thing. During the Green days, Christine was also in a blues band that was on the same label as Fleetwood Mac, often played on the same bill as the band, after a short while was married to the bassist, and played on all but two records (Peter Green's FM and Blues Jam Session at Chess/In Chicago). She may not have been in the band, but she was certainly a part of it.

It is a disaster. I could pare the thing down to a decent EP, and that's about it. Too long, too many sh*tty songs, weak production, blah, blah, blah......

That's for sure. Mick and John are the foundation - the bedrock. Aside from that, all is Fleetwood Mac. Configuations change and morph. Players come and go and
(in Lindsey's case ) come back again. That's one of the most ususual and interesting facets of the Fleetwood Mac brand -- the different phases and musical styles.

Not that what is best matters to me but have you listened to So The Story Goes from Martha Davis, Van Lear Rose by Loretta Lynn, Live Close By, Visit Often from K.T. Oslin or Black Cadillac from Rosanne Cash? I would consider those(along with Stevie's Trouble In Shangri-La) to be some of the greatest albums from the past decade.

Not bad choices. My top five are:
Wilco: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Guided by Voices: Isolation Drills
Neko Case: Blacklisted
Johnny Cash: American IV: The Man Comes Around
The Strokes: Is This It

I remember her back in those 80's heydays with the Nashville Network & seeing her with Ralph Emery , great memories. I'd take late 60-80's country over the stuff they play now. I also like Rosanne Cash too. She's always been one of my favorites. Have you ever heard of folk singer Nanci Griffith? I really like her stuff too(& other artists too etc). So I do like country just not todays country stuff. Anyway, regarding what this topic/thread is about I do agree that I also miss Mac without Christine too. I did see the BTM tour (than I missed Lindsey), SYW was an OK tour only saw one show. I missed Christine than too. I did get to see the Dance tour which was great. But I haven't seen them live since SYW prices being what they are now. Same with Stevie solo, tried of all those Greatest Hits shows & the prices just aren't worth it. I'll live. If I hadn't ever seen them than it would be a bigger deal but not so much now. If they do release a 'new' cd I'll buy it for sure just don't think I'd see them on tour though. Well, those are some thoughts.:D

Johnny Cash: American IV: The Man Comes Around
Is this album one of his final recordings? I've not heard much music from Johnny Cash and would really like to do so.
I love KT Oslin, she has such a great voice.
Yes, she does and K.T. is also a really good songwriter. Most of her music was not full-fledged country/western music but she understands what country music is about. I admire her not only for her talent and incredible sense of humour but for the tenacity she possessed to continue to pursue a career in music despite many people believing that she was too old to do so. She proved every single one of them wrong.
I also like Rosanne Cash too. She's always been one of my favorites.
She is one of mine as well. I think she is very misunderstood as an artist.
Have you ever heard of folk singer Nanci Griffith? I really like her stuff too(& other artists too etc).
Yes but I've only heard Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness, which is great. I also love Dolly Parton's version of Once In A Very Blue Moon.
So I do like country just not todays country stuff.
I think that the Dixie Chicks controversy was the beginning of the end for contemporary country music. Fortunately, Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire, Tanya Tucker, Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris are still touring and making new music to some degree so there is hope. I just wish that the recording artists(country and otherwise) would get away from all of the new technology and return to the real music that they used to make. It may not be easier but the complex albums are the ones people often remember(i.e. Rumours).
