Due to the low amount of votes during the first "Demos" Survivor I have decided not to continue those challenges at this time, instead we are onto the "In Your Dreams" Survivor Thread...

Because you are only allowed ten choices: "In Your Dreams", "For What It's Worth", "Annabelle Lee" and "Moonlight" will be added in the next rounds...

I really like My Heart, and I do love the verses / bridge to ELY but I don't like the chorus much at all.

ELY is a great song, except for that intro and Stevie singing "cahn't".

It's Soldier's Angel, not Soldier's Song. I voted for that, and Cheaper Than Free to go.

"My Heart" is the only song I really don't care for on IYD and always skip. Though I must admit I was not as excited as most on this board that she revisited it again. This song has always been meh for me, so I was hoping they truly were going to improve upon it, but aside from a few vocal improvements here and there, overall I prefer the TISL arrangement, it's much more palatable for me & belonged on that record, not IYD:nod:

2nd choice was much harder, but I chose "Cheaper Than Free". I know it's controversial around here due to some hating the lyrics, Dave's voice etc, But I really love this song, just not as much as the others...and It'll be voted down hard no matter what anyway.

Cheaper Than Free and My Heart.

I don't hate Cheaper Than Free, but it's certainly the second-weakest song on the record, after My Heart. My Heart is the only song on the album that I just can't warm to. I think it's because I much prefer the TISL Demo/Outtake/whatever arrangement, and keep expecting the IYD one to sound more like that. :laugh:

My thoughts almost exactly, but I think my loathing is stronger.

Second choice would be "Annabel Lee" (nothing else is close as far as I'm concerned), but since it's not an option, I went with "Everybody Loves You". That intro has no place on a Stevie song, which I might forgive, but it goes on too long. Nice verses, though.

Italian Summer & Cheaper than Free for me.

The inane lyrics in IS do it in, IMO. Cheaper Than Free is my second choice by default. I'm not a fan of the music in ELY, but the lyrics are really getting to me lately so it stays...for now. :cool:

Agreed Italian Summer is a disappointment, but I find CTF kind of childishly appealing.

My album clunkers are the embarrassing bagpipe drone vocals/charmless slide guitar snoozefest called FWIW, and the pointless E. A. Poe poem Annabel Lee set to music. I know these are big fan favourites but oh, my dear god.

Soldier's Angel makes me cringe because of the subject matter, You May Be the One is like an aural version of a zombie march.

ELY for the win.

I do like the album. I guess. It just doesn't seem like Stevie, it seems like Dave Stewart imitating her. After all, he basically wrote most of the tunes.

IMO~the bass drum on SA live was intense and the CD version should have more ... Cheaper Than Free is classic Stevie~luv it! Had to say goodbye to My Heart...humm?

I love Italian Summer melodically... but some of the lyrics in the chorus :/

The weird thing is, a while back there was some sort of screen shot or lyric sheet posted (I can't remember) of Stevie's original like jotted down Italian Summer lyrics, and they were SO much better. I wonder why they got changed.
