On the Rolling Stone video, Stevie is singing along with "Only Over You"~ and BEAUTIFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY was she AXED from that song???? CMcV is CLEAR on "Straight Back", so WHY was STEVIE axed from "Only Over You"????
I LOVE how Stevie WAILS: "I'm out of my head, and it's only over YOU!!!"
Just like when Stevie was stripped off of "Oh Daddy", which are some of her BEST backing vocals on the REAL Rumours....
Was LB too scared of #1 Bella Donna Stevie? He had to suppress her??????

Agreed. I couldn't believe it when I heard that version of Oh Daddy. Her backing vocals were GREAT. I thought Stevie and LB were fighting at the time and that's why he suppressed her. Just mho.

Stevie sings SO perfectly in the BACKGROUND: "And I can't walk away from you, baby, if I tried..."
Rumours could have had another single!!!!!!

I don't think I've ever heard either of these versions. Are they on youtube somewhere?

Could be that. Or could be just bad aesthetic judgement. I thought his early solo work was almost unlistenable, so far was his head inserted up his fundament at this time.

Decisions about mixes are made --- in Fleetwood Mac's case, I doubt it ever came down to one person's making a unilateral decision --- & often we listeners don't care for the decision. Back when I used to listen to all the old alternative takes & such from all three singers, I'd often groan with frustration because what I was hearing sounded so much better than the final mix & all related "take" decisions.
I've always had trouble believing that sour grapes had much direct effect on the music on the Fleetwood Mac albums --- too many people around to allow deliberately retributive decisions & far too much money at stake --- but who knows? It may have happened here & there. Still, keep in mind that these preferences you guys have (just like my own preferences) are subjective; what you or someone else clearly labels "better" may not be so to Joe & Jane Listener down the street. You can't say that some early take is "clearly better" & then extrapolate from that (as if it were a demonstrable fact) a narrative that reads like J.R. Ewing sticking it to Sue Ellen.
