Like Stevie, Lindsey has been asked about the Mac in his solo SWS interviews. It's not like he issued a press release hinting at the prospect of FM going on tour (in 2012 or 2013) to get a chance to talk about his album.

Anyone in a big band gets asked these things on solo promotion. Ozzy Osbourne was asked time after time on his last tour if Black Sabbath were getting back together and all he could say was "never say never". It helps get them in the news but they don't pick the questions interviewers ask. I imagine it gets frustrating thinking that the interview has no real interest in what you're doing and only in if the "big band" is getting back together.

Is anyone else as perturbed as I am by all the press being about an off the cuff comment about Fleetwood Mac? Talk about the man's amazing solo work not about the Mac

No. I wouldn't say it's "off the cuff". They have to draw attention to his solo work via Fleetwood Mac so that people will know who he is and possibly be interested. It's a lot easier to do that if you have an established, marketed name like "Fleetwood Mac"...

The majority (and then some) of people have no idea who Lindsey Buckingham is. You need to shove FM in there if he has any chance of getting anyone to "know" who he is from their memory banks.
I've told people I'm going to Lindsey's concerts now for years. "Who?" is the most common follow-up question. Then, when I mention FM, I get, "oh, the blonde girl!" Uh, no...
Personally, if I were him, I'd be booking this tour as the Hot Guitarist from Fleetwood Mac Flies Solo tour...but, that's just me;-)

^Ha! I know. I always have to follow up his name with "the guitarist in Fleetwood Mac" and they go "oh yeah"... whatever.

one interview with one AP reporter spreadslike wildfire amongst most websites desperate to update a webpage with a scoop; it's an easy way to get press with minimal effort.
