I was on the old site (the penguin) and i found that the old ledge had a chat room, why can the new one have one. I dont think that the ledge is using its resources well. just a thought.

SuperFleetwood, since you are not a contributing member to The Ledge I don't think that's a fair statement for you to make. The upkeep of this site costs people money... hard earned money at that... and I believe the costs of running this site outweigh the donations received. Please take thought before you decide to speak on something that you clearly don't have a clue about.

Although my opinion has little value as it changes nothing, I personally have always found the idea of a chat room within a chat forum rather redundant. I couldn't justify the expenditure, especially considering I know how expensive large sites like this can be to run. I used to co-own a forum I was admin on for a few years, and if I'd have known how much I'd have been out of pocket because of it I wouldn't have bothered. This site is just very lucky that it has so many people willing to give what they can in order to maintain the site. If I could afford it I'd sign up to contribute too.

I do understand your want & desire for a chat room. It's not a half bad idea all around... but when you make comments about the Ledge not using it's resources it's totally uncalled for, and frankly, rude. It's all about tact my young Superfleet.

Granted I've had some tact-less moments in the past. I'm working on that. ;)

You're missing the point. There's absolutely nothing wrong with expressing your opinion... but just as in real life, you think about what ya say before you open your mouth to speak? That's all I'm saying. I'll drop the issue now.

Superfleetwood, we actually used to use the NicksFix chat quite often. There's actually a thread about it in ChitChat somewhere.

Personally, I'd rather not have a chat room on here because there are certain people I'd like to avoid having realtime conversation with. It means more to me to see that the money I've donated (like Brandon said, hard earned money straight from my own pocket because I love this place and want to help as much as I can) is keeping it ticking over like it always does. Trusty and unfailing!
