I was getting ready to say the same thing...Jessi looks exactly like Lori!
And I love the shots of Jessi doing Stevie's makeup...reminds me quite a bit of the "Wild Heart" makeup session video.

Stevie out in wind really makes this. That and her voice. I saw this in Atlanta in the background. I was concerned that they used fans to create the wind effect in the video. I just watched this several times and I am very sure that the wind is real. If this was done out of luck or by design they did a great job.

When the video began, I thought, "Excellent - this is going to shape out just how I pictured it to be. Bus through the desert....Stevie, beautifully wind-kissed in the sand...slow and breezy." And it was all of those things. But it reminded me quite a bit in parts of the Cheaper Than Free video, and not necessarily in a good way. Too documentary in style with the faux-flirting going on between Stevie and Dave. For the casual viewer, it looks like the "great romance" is a real and tangible thing between the two of them. And I cringed when I saw her "door banging" for a second time towards the end. I'm tired of the door banging! I know the hand gestures have become part of Stevie's quirky thing onstage now, and it's endearing - I just don't think that this touching song warrants charades. I've felt that way since I first saw her do it live.
Just my opinion, and I'm nitpicking. But the rest of the video is everything it should be.
Thanks so much for posting! And above all else, I'm just absolutely thrilled that we have another video!

I know what you mean, but like the secret love video I think Dave was just playing the part of the 'great romance.'
Luckily there aren't that many moments where it's super 'documentary-style.'
I think this is honestly in like the top 5 of Stevie videos for me. Certainly far better than Secret Love.
I can't wait for it to be released in HD on Stevie's youtube channel (hopefully tomorrow) so we can see it in better quality and make some awesome .gif's out of it.
I can't get over the top hat/chiffon/wind shots.

I seriously doubt country radio would touch Stevie Nicks. Perhaps if she made a full on country record in Nashville with a country cred producer. She has about as much chance of getting country spins as she does top 40 attention  AC and triple A is her best shot with this.
Somebody....get rid of those damn Reeboks!!!
You'd think that she'd wear "The Boots" at least in the video, for posterity and tradition:confused:. Maybe she thought they weren't suppose to get a shot of her feet:rolleyes:. But how much more glorious it could have been to have a full body silhouette shot of her in that outfit, out in the desert... blowing in the wind, anchored to this earth only by her platform soles - that allegorical impression is always appropriate in Stevieland.:D

Country radio won't play the genres own legends if they are over 60. Unless of course you do cameos or remakes of your own hits with the hot young artists. But, I think CMT and GAC should def put the video in rotation. It's worked for The Eagles a couple of years ago and Dolly's repping the senior citizen set nicely with her new video. Plus, it would help sell a few more units.

The idea of adding more to the bus cracks me up... how awesome / hilarious (but in a serious sort of way) would it have been if she'd had all of her rock star beau's / friends, one after the other, file onto the bus, hang out with her, and then leave before the bus stops to pick someone else up? in every other video, stevie is queen. she appears as a strong, confident female solo-artist. this video make her seem dependent, and it's disgusting watching her act as an oblivious homewrecker.

Huh? Many music videos give the artist a love interest. Often, the artist or the love interest is in a relationship in real life. The director generally trusts that the audience can separate art from life, and won't proclaim, "Adultery!"
Nor do I think it makes her subordinate. Even strong, confident women fall in love.

Dave's playing a character... just like he did in the Secret Love video. Neither of those songs are actually about him, so why would that mean anything.
And why on earth would it be naive to say their relationship is professional/artistic, when that's all we have evidence that it is? Seem's like it's more of a stretch to say it's something more, if you're basing all of this off of the few touchy moments in the staged music videos.

SOoooooo since she's on a bus with some guys she's a homewrecker? Should they have shot it on a plane?
What exactly r u questioning?
You mean you didn't get the bus ride as a metaphor for Stevie having an affair with her drug counselor in the song and Dave Stewart in the present?
Me either.

what about it? she can't have a male friend? and if she is smashing...........SO WHAT!? lol! that's their bizness. besides isn't he getting divorced anyway? but besides all this............IT'S ONLY A VIDEO!
i certainly hope he's getting divorce, for poor love-sick stevie's sake!
Dave's playing a character... just like he did in the Secret Love video. Neither of those songs are actually about him, so why would that mean anything.
And why on earth would it be naive to say their relationship is professional/artistic, when that's all we have evidence that it is? Seem's like it's more of a stretch to say it's something more, if you're basing all of this off of the few touchy moments in the staged music videos.
have you not seen their interraction in the mini-docs on youtube? regardless, it's just my opinion.

Yes, I've seen all of their interaction in the documentary clips on youtube. I didn't think a bit of it was weird.
I get that it's your opinion, but you're acting as if this music video, of all things, is a stain on Stevie's reputation. Which I think is a little bit outrageous. :sorry: That's just my opinion. It's a music video.

Welcome to The Ledge Fireflies :wavey: Didn't take you long to step in the deep end.
All perspectives and opinions are welcome, though, I too have a difference of opinion from you about the video. It does appears you may be reading WAY too much into this. Stevie & Dave go way back and it's obvious based on interviews & the videos, documentary clips etc. that they have developed a deep affection and respect towards one another during the making her new record. But it does come across quite presumptious to assume based upon such things that they are having an affair. And even if they were, It is their business, not ours. In other words keep your own house clean and don't worry about everyone else's.

This exactly is what I thought when I first laid eyes on the video, especially those scenes of her in the top hat, hair pulled back in the desert wind. It was hauntingly familiar to me. Sent me straight back to the Mirage HBO concert video performance of GYOW
Stevie looks stunning in this video! The lighting was working in her favor the day they shot this vid, or was the glow courtesy of Dave or Mike?? She loves her Highwaymen and it shows! All kidding aside, it's a beautiful, simple heartfelt video that suits the song perfectly.

I was thinking the same thing. And for a nanosecond I thought, oh, how refreshing it is to see her naturally lit with daylight streaming through the bus window. Um... upon closer inspection, the scenery scrolling by her window was clearly superimposed in post-production. It seems that her close-ups on the bus were shot with a very flattering light box outside of the window, not daylight! And I could swear that the entire thing, except for Stevie's makeup shots, must have been shot in black and white, and then colored in post production. There is something indescribably unearthly about the colors in this video!
I also noticed that Stevie's head is in Dave's lap at 3:59. I have always found that position to be very intimate. Very, very intimate. I mean, you don't exactly go around laying your head down on the laps of casual acquaintances. After all, she can effectively feel, uh, something with the back of her head  . There is a sense of intimacy between those two that seems very genuine, which is in contrast to some of the clearly staged intimacy between she and Lindsey on the stage. :sorry: I don't want to go as far as to say they are bumping uglies, but, gosh, I could totally picture it.

You're right about the head in the lap being a very intimate. But, to play devil's advocate, you can lay you head in someone's lap and not touch anything private - you can just be resting your head on knees and this is for a video, however I get what you're saying about how it appears with someone who could be considered a virtual stranger vs. what you call "staged intimacy" with LB.

Yes, very lovely video. I certainly hope it will be offered as some sort of package and sold. Would love to add it to my media collection.
The desert wind scenes reminded me of the Bella Donna photo shoot where Stevie is dressed in white chiffon Rhiannon sleeves and the wind is blowing. I looked in several places to find them and post with this message, but wouldn't you know... I can't find but one and it was not a good depiction.
There are certainly many nods to "favorites" from the past in this video... a fitting sentiment to the lyrics of the song. It left me with a warm feeling.
I am so happy it seems they were careful in editing to not make it so choppy! No migrane, no vertigo, no feeling like I'm going to have a seizure. :xoxo: Thank you Mr. Video Editor.

It's kind of amazing to me that Stevie and Dave are making these good videos on such a small budget. I mean all three videos have a different feel to them and they are a hell of a lot better than most of her other videos.
I really like the stylistic qualities to this video - the fades scratchy film. The colorization and the simplicity. It feels heartfealt to me.

I'm surprised Stevie is wearing such clunky shoes in the desert. They're practical, to be sure. But not what I expected.
I like the way Jessie is mouthing the words to "FWIW" as she applies the make up.
The way Stevie is positioned on Dave's lap, if she turned her head, she'd come into contact with his stomach or chest, rather than anything lower down. But yes, intimate.
To me, the most intimate that Stevie and Lindsey have seemed was during Madison when things just broke down. When Lindsey was doing push ups and crawled over to her, she just reached out and started caressing his head and trying to help him up, when he stretched out his hand, without even thinking about it. I thought it said a lot. But I also thought the same thing when I saw an elderly Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball cavorting in their daughter's pool. They were playing with their grandson, but it looked like something more was going on there, the way she couldn't keep her hands off his thinning pate.
And when Lindsey walked over in that video and kissed Christine on the mouth, I thought that was pretty intimate too.

Love it! I can't believe no one's mentioned "tiny, gold dust, fairy Stevie" around the 2:10 mark - that's my favorite part!
Reminds me of the little people at the end of the Gypsy video.

Those boots were practically the first shot in the video and she was trudging along in them too. Maybe she planned on wearing boots, but because of the wind they had to change it. But it's almost an allegory though, coming out of the heat and the dirt, looking for refuge. There's almost a "pioneer" attitude about it and the boots lend to that air. Part rock and roll icon, part quaker.

Still wish there was some Street Angel era hair in it!
Alas, I love it! All I have to say is that with the three videos they have already released, and the others we haven't seen (Wide Sargasso Sea, Annabel Lee, You May Be The One, Moonlight, and Italian Summer... and I am still hoping they take some video of Stevie and Lindsey recording Soldiers Angel and mesh it with some real footage of soldiers and then film some shots of Stevie and it would make an extremely emotional video) and the documentary footage, they have an great opportunity to make the documentary package spectacular. It should be three discs, one a DVD of the Documentary, the second a DVD of all the music videos and the Wiltern Show in its entirety, and the third should be a CD with the song demos, live versions and songs from this album that didn't make the cut (My Heart and Shadow of my Shadow), and then include an mp3 download of the album itself. Just sayin...

I think it's really funny that she drew one of her stick drawings in the video. They must appear in every other page of her diaries -- which would be interesting, except they all appear to be somewhat the same.

You know, I sort of agree. I like the concept and I like aspects of it but it falls a little flat for me. I love it because it's Stevie and I love all the accoutrements, but I don't love Dave Stewart's presence and am tolerable of Mike Campbell just because I think he adds a goofy, quirky vibe that is cool. Just to play director, it would probably have been cool to just leave him standing in the desert playing guitar. I don't know why. Or I would have liked it better if Mike & Dave were both just left standing in the desert with the bus driving around in circles and Stevie writing in her journal looking out the widow at them. LOL.
I can just do without Dave's presence in her videos. I don't have anything against him but what the crap - he's not even singing on these two singles and is featured in the videos. I guess he's cheap... and free. And, we all know what's cheaper than free...

I have to say though that if Stevie wanted to retire, I would be happy for her. There are two artists that I've loved through the years that come to mind. One, I wish desperately would retire and the other retired prematurely, to my thinking. I'd love it if she would come out of retirement even briefly for special events, but on the other hand I wonder what if she can't sing or dance anymore? I would always remember that over what she accomplished previously. So, it's up to the individual to make the call. Some people may go to their grave entertaining regardless of the quality of performance they can give. And others, like Chris, choose to enjoy a well-earned retirement and left their fans with memories of greatness.

Yeah, Little Jimmy is still going and it's great that he can but sometimes it's hard to watch artists you've loved get to a point where they can't sing any more. George Jones is the one I was referring to - a man who I consider to be the voice of country music. It's obvious he has emphysema or some kind of breathing issues now and his once golden voice is no longer capable of hitting notes that defined his signature sound.

I'd actually be cool with it, too, either way. What I'm getting at is that Stevie is, in an admittedly rather literal sense, still offering something.
But wait - I just read back that paragraph and no, it's more than that. I know this isn't going to be popular, but even when I try to be popular I fail on the Ledge, so I might as well be hung, drawn and quartered for being honestly marginal, so here's my honest opinion: Stevie Nicks has always been more of an honest-to-god artist than C McVie. That's how it strikes me. And for that reason alone my world will always have been that little bit more interesting for the existence of Stevie than for the existence of Christine. Christine was (past tense), I think (and I think she'd agree), a kind of Tin Pan Alley songwriter - a position that I, actually, do not think is inherently less valid in how it hits the listener. Songs aim to stir things, and hey, there will be as many weddings that echo to the strains of 'Songbird' as do 'Crystal' or 'Landslide', that's for sure, and why not?
But look, whilst I don't regard Christine as in way lacking because she's retired. I just think it's all *bonus* for we who like Stevie a lot, atm. It's not a competition. Just simply that if I were a Ledgie who would adore to have CM still active, then we SN fans are surely in clover?
It's my birthday, btw. Feel free to be kind.

What the ****? Does everyone, including video editors, suffer from severe ADD? I would normally love the video - it's full of stunning images and senarios. The problem is it's chopped up and presented in 2 second segments throughout the entire thing. blink blink blink blink blink blink blink blink blink blink flash flash flash flash flash flash flash flash flash flash It's nearly intolerable to watch. That really pisses me off. It's a shame it's so erratic. There are some nice scenes that could have lingered a bit longer, so you could take pause and be a bit more engaged with it; it would be more emotive and in sync with the pace of the song. But, no! If you blink you missed it! I don't understand why this approach is taken or seen as desirable. I have a hard time watching it. EPILITECS BE WARNED!

The problem is those scenes end before you have time to enjoy them.
I agree totally. Just a lot of images thrown together without coherence. FWIW is such a "story" song, and it deserves a "story" video.

but it wouldn't be a "stevie" thing to do at all to tell the story! lol!

I like the video. I like the images, especially her in the top hat with her hair all tucked in, soooo looks like younger Stevie.
The story seems to me to be girl singer on tour, this intriguing guy comes along, they/she pick him up, he's there for a while, but not forever ("we knew it couldn't last") and sure enough at some point he hops off the bus and they go their separate ways.
Not literally what happened on her tour but taps into the basic idea of the song....someone who's in your life for a time, you know they'll leave at some point, they do, you're sad, but wouldn't trade the hurt of their leaving because at least you had them for a time.

This is hands down her best video shes ever made. And obviously thats not as meaningful as saying somethings stevie's best song or best album or best live perfrormance, because she has a high bar with all of those things. Her video bar, not that high  So I can say without any hesitation that this is her best video ever.
I'm in the minority; I think this is one of the worst videos Stevie has ever made. :sorry: Like someone else said, it's a bunch of boring shots thrown together. We all know that Stevie's videos have little to no storyline, but... deserts are boring. Stevie looking out a window is boring. It's just not my style.

Each to their own. It's all good. I wish you did like it, but only because liking things is more fun than not liking things. :p
Oh, there are definitely some parts I do like! It would've been cool if she did more singing in the desert with her Rhiannon sleeves, but it seemed to be more of a documentary-style video. I prefer the quirky and campy videos, like the ones for Hold Me and I Can't Wait. :p
