Hummm... I think some of the songs are down right cheesy. I saw Dave in December when he did a preview of the album with Martina Mcbride stopping by. My favorite song he played was All messed up (on love) w/Martina. The Gypsy girl and me & Stevie Baby, in particular, are the cheesiest. Funny both of these are about Stevie! I suppose if I were her, I would be flattered that someone made that cheese for me. hehehe. The back up girls (The secret sisters) were AWESOME! Sometimes when they were singing I had goose bumps!

Seeing Dave live was a great experience though. I thought he was totally funny and it sounded like he had a really great time making the record...and apparently that's more important than selling albums these days (ha!).

I must confess I haven't actually listened to the album other than the live show. Maybe I will give it a little listenity listen.

What's your favorite track so far???

I'm thinking about giving this a listen to. Considering the reviews I've read, I'm not sure how to feel about it. But I'll give it a listen.

Does Dave's Blackbird Diaries "Cheaper Than Free" have any noticeable alt. mix nuances? I was listening to the preview streaming somewhere online & it seemed that it was less punchier than Lord-Alge's IYD mix, and Dave's voice was slightly more prominent. But I couldn't be certain since I was listening on tiny computer speakers.

I think I'll order this from Amazon, when the Buddy Holly's "Listen To Me" tribute & Mr Buckinghams new cd are released, along with Vanessa Carlton's new one I keep meaning to get.

I could have sworn this album came out in July. I downloaded it a month or two ago. WTF?

Dave Stewart going to Nashville to record two albums with a real band and no electronic instruments did come rather unexpected, especially given his electronic influence on pop music production since the 80s.

"The Gypsy Girl And Me", "Story Of Success" and "Beast Called Fame" are probably my favourites from these albums. "One Way Ticket to the Moon" has a lyrical theme that echoes his song "Leaving This Earth" from one of his more electronically inclined solo albums, 1998's "Sly-Fi" which is a rather good album.
