What makes you think JB will be damaged? The place is made out of concrete! And there are no trees. Plus, it doesn't look like a direct hit as of now, but of course things could always change.

Well said. I can not believe Stevie would endanger her fans knowing they will be driving through treacherous conditions on the way home from the show. Stevie may be able to get out of Bethel quickly but her fans can't. This is not good....especially since Stevie is telling people "Rhiannon says "stay out of the wind" ....what is Stevie thinking sending her fans into the wind?

I think maybe things sound worse than they are. It's easy to be dramatic.
Still, I keep thinking of Joplin now and how that one kid, Will Norton, got sucked out of his car by the wind. Seems like the whole town had attended a high school graduation, despite storm warnings and that's why so many people were on the road and hit by the twister when they were returning home. They should have just holed up at the school, until the worst was over.
I tuned in to CNN for a whole week just to see if they'd been able to locate Will Norton in any of the hospitals, but when he was found, it wasn't good news.

Hope everyone has a safe trip home after the show. I'm surprised the show is still on. I'm seeing Stevie Thursday in NJ, but tonight I was supposed to see Mary Chapin Carpenter at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA (just outside DC) and they cancelled it around noon today (no rescheduled date sadly). As excited as I was to see her, I was really worried about the ride home and think they made a good call.

The storm just kicked into gear here in D.C. - hard driving diagonal rain and a serious wind - I just heard the weather woman say “Irene may be a 1, but she’s a big 1!" I’m hours inland from the ‘cane so I can’t even imagine what you folks on the coast are going through.. She is huge and rowdy. Be careful all.. I’m getting ready to open a bottle of red and listen to my newest Stevie playlist I created..
Love Don’t Fail Me Now / Lady from the Mountain / Christian / Priests of Nothing /Forest of the Black Roses / She Still Love Him / City of Hope / Don’t Treat Me Like a Stranger / Mistaken Love / Space Needle / No Heart / Rhiannon - take 2
A perfect shade of blue for a stormy night. For everyone going to Bethel (I was planning on it but had to cancel due to the weather and train cancellations. ) .. Be safe.. Please. Trust me - I’m feeling Irene right now and she isn’t playing.

But I think what's unfair is that if the show goes on and you decide to stay home for safety reasons, you lose the value of your ticket.
I know that your life is more important than the concert price, but given that this is an event of national disaster proportions, just because the organizers decided to go through with it doesn't mean people who stayed home should lose money.
So, if Stevie is going to be there, I hope that those who attend have a great time. But it'd be nice if those who decided to stay home got a refund. I wouldn't say that for any storm, but this one has been on the news across the country for two days now. It's not just people over-reacting -- well, there may be an over-reaction, but the media, mayor, governor, and first responder authorities are leading it and so a concert-goer who heeds them shouldn't suffer.

But, of course, promoters and everyone involved would lose a great deal of money, whether the show was rescheduled or cancelled outright.

Really? Why do you think that just because YOU can't go to a show means that it should be cancelled for everyone else? I'm here and the house looks fairly well filled. And the weather is just beautiful - overcast with a slight cool breeze. I feel sorry that you are unable to attend, but one must do what one must do. I fled to Pennsylvania. Just got back. The rain held off for most of the show, but it started to rain ever so slightly towards the end. And the wind has picked up a little bit now, but it's still nothing out of the ordinary for a rainstorm. Anyway, a few observations:
-Stevie was in good voice tonight! I mean, she always sounds good these days, but I thought she sounded exceptional tonight.
-Stevie called the crowd "really dedicated fans" and then cried out "let's get the hurricane party started!" Every time the wind kicked up a little, she would say "Irene?" "Irene?" She seemed to be in an extraordinarily silly mood and very smiley. I'm not going to say she toked before the show, but...
-She dedicated "Landslide" to a woman named Paula in the audience who was currently battling cancer.
-There was an announcement on the loudspeakers before the show that Stevie has requested that nobody photograph, video or record any part of the show. And throughout the show, the guards- some of the friendliest guards I have ever seen, by the way, were pretty strict about enforcing it. I really didn't see anyone using their cameras during the show. That being said, after the Edge walk, I video'd "Love Is" from the stage, which I shall upload if the paltry wifi here can handle it. I think Voyager II gets a stronger signal in deep space.
-Unfortunately the new outfit debuted on GMA did not make a reappearance.
-The Bethel Woods site is gorgeous. I have never seen a concert setting so immaculately manicured and landscaped. It has beautiful views of the Catskills and is full of stone buildings and white tents. Oh, and plenty of vegan/vegetarian fare! Probably one of the nicest, most civilized concert experiences I've ever had. But the guard rail in front of the front row is a BIG drawback IMHO.
Looking forward to Boston!!!!!

did many people show up?
It looked like a fairly good turnout. Of course the lawn was virtually empty, but the covered seating seemed pretty much full; I did not see large blocks of empty seats.

Oh wow, thank you for the fast turn around on a review. Looking forward to the Love Is video when you are able to get it posted.
Wow, it does sound like Stevie was in a silly mood tonight. Would have loved to see and hear Stevie being silly like that. Irene? Irene? LOL, that is classic.
Kind of a bummer about Stevie being so strict now about photos and videos, etc... Doesn't she know that we do this not for ourselves, but to share with other fans who could not go? :shrug:d In a round about way, I think she is trying to reinforce the notion of just experiencing the concert live and not worrying about taping, etc... which I get but to be so strict about it. I just don't get it. It is not like we are doing this to sell it but to share the awesomeness that is Stevie Nicks to the world.
I am really glad you got home safely. There are some pretty pissed off people on the venue's FB page angry it was not canceled. I think more people would be pissed if it did get canceled considering the weather was not a huge factor during the concert.

We are not trying to sell the pictures but there are plenty of people out there that go to shows, take a bunch of pictures and make a fortune from people like us. They know there's a market out there and take advantage of it. Plus I think the flashing hurts her eyes.... uhm... that sounds weird lol but you know what I mean.

I'm too tired too add much, but what a great show! Stevie sounded amazing. Her voice was so powerful. Despite problems with feedback in her monitors, I think that was the best Soldiers angel so far.
Weather was a nonissue. At no time were we in danger. I opted to stay in a motel, as my town was under mandatory evacuation. It was definitely an excellent decision. I saw a truly excellent show by my favorite performer, and I'm high and dry in a motel.
It seems she is only getting better. I can't wait for the next show!

Ok.After a late start I got to Bethel around 6pm.It was a nice ride there with alittle rain.
I'm glad they push the show to 7pm.After talking with fans in the parking lot for an hour.got into the venue when Michael starting his set.He does sound great.I found my seat.3rd row
in front of Lori amd Sharon. They look so beautiful.Turnd around and notice the place was packed. Two nice Stevie diehard fan sat next to me.Marsha and Melenie from Vermont.I had a ball with them. Please come forward and say hi on the Ledge..Stevie went on and did an awesome job as always.I ditto what Ed said on some of the details.Loved L&L Steve did a awesome job on it.Nothing new with me for not saying anything bad about her performences.Me and the girls next to me got up to the stage during EO17.got our handshakes with a big Stevie smile and she said thank you.I said Hi to Marty to.He heard me and said hi.I did took photo throught out the show in stealth mode on my lap.Like said the security were like pricker bushes with the cameras.I had no problem with them.On the PA said Stevie's management does not want cameras,Video and Sound recordings done.
Before Stevie came on .The security escorted a big drunk guy out of the place with 4 guys.
After the show I walk around before it started to downpour.pickup some merch at the stand and left to find my car which I forgot where I parked it.so I walked for a half hour in the rain looking for it.I sat in the car and wait for whats left of the traffic to leave. Then I hit the road to come back the Connecticut with the company of Stevie's IYD's cd playing non stop.
The ride home felt like I was driving a boat. The rain was like somebody with a firehose shooting the car. When I got to Connecticut two tour buses flew by me on I-84 .I happen to have my camcorder handy to film one of them driving by.I dont know if they were Stevie's crew.Got home at 3am.I want to say Thank you Stevie for a wonderful hurricane
party tonight.Ill never forget it.

At GMA she wore one of those new-fangled jackets with the fitted bodice and wizard sleeves. I don't recall ever seeing that jacket before. But it was much, much nicer than the see-thru top with the rouched sleeves that look like sausage casings that she has been wearing at her shows recently.
I'm glad you made it up there Ed.I think I seen you.Where were you sitting.I was on the girls

I was in the front row on Waddy's side but dashed to the center like Carl Lewis in 1984 when the security quietly packed up their chairs and walked away. Land speed record.

Yes... you are like Noah driving the ark to Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Oh, another thing... I noticed that she was playing tambo throughout "The Ghosts Are Gone." I could swear she has not done this before; she typically picks up the tambo for the extended jam at the end of the song. I thought it was sooo cool that she was singing and playing tambo at the same time again!!!

Yes, we will always have Red Rocks. Red Rocks was gorgeous in its own rugged way. But Bethel Woods has a decidedly genteel elegance. Immaculate lawns without a single weed. Perfectly mulched flower beds full of late summer blooms. But Bethel has the edge for vegan/vegetarian fare! Winning! I am usually prepared to starve at concerts, but this time I managed to stuff my face pretty well.
It's just a shame that it's located in the middle of nowhere. Wow. I thought Turning Stone was bad, but this is really, really amidst nothing but cows and corn.

If I remember correctly she did play it for most of the song in Cincy...she even told us to go out and buy tambourines and practice in our living room to this song...she said we might lose all of our friends but it wouldn't matter because we could play the tambourine:lol:

I'm talking about the the large majority of of the crowd and most especially the venue staff. Scroll down to" End of griping" to bypass how crappy I think the Bethel venue is these days.
I would have to really think hard to count up the number of times I've seen Stevie/FM since 1979 and most of those times in seats far in the abyss where you really did take binoculars and there weren't jumbo screens. All but one concert in Houston, and one in Atlanta, were on the west coast from San Diego to Seattle. I don't EVER remember a show where people sat in their seats and acted like they were at the ballet!!!! This was a rock n roll show and you would have thought we were watching Les Miserable!!!
Many people were standing when she first came out, and sang stand back, then boom, right into their seats. When we stayed standing for the next song, people started yelling at us to sit down. WOW!! So that was a huge bummer for us. We were in the front of sec 3 and did see a group over in the center or sec 2 up and rockin, but that was about it. I asked someone there if this is the way they watched concerts out here in the east and she said, "what way?" I said just sitting in your seat and she "yes, that's how WE do it." Oops, guess I offended her... oh well.
Last gripe. Where did they get the staff? The local high security prison??? The guards at the stage on our side would shine their flashlight on you if your camera didn't focus up in 0 .7 seconds. They didn't care if you took the pictures, it's just that by the time the lens focused in (no flash) they'd be right on you. There was a barrier in front of the first row. NO FEET ACROSS THE LINE, no stretching, no picking up a water bottle you dropped...the guard was gunna get you!!! A couple people crossed the barrier when Stevie wasn't even on stage and one guy got literally pushed into the isle. He was trying to avoid stepping over about 6 people....
could not believe it. I'm only surprised they didn't carry guns or tasers!!
Last gripe....don't we always all sing along to landslide???? When did that stop? You couldn't hear anyone compared to the full out sing along last year at Tahoe. If I had been playing to this audience I would have packed up my (*&% and gone home! Hope the lights were shining in her eyes so she couldn't see the apathy.
End of the griping!
ON TO STEVIE... she was beautiful, in great voice; no early morning gravel like on GMA; she was witty and most of the time full on giddy!! She was totally into Irene. She told the funniest story about the taping of the FWIW video and was just cracking herself up!!! She saw a beautiful blue lake that she thought they were going to tape near and it just kept getting further away...."It was a mirage!! A REAL mirage, like the kind you can imagine the Indians crawling to and just eating sand..." too funny. I loved all the new songs, she really got into her performance and did not disappoint!!
One very nice thing I will say about the people at this show is that there was NO rush to the stage for the edge walk!! We walked right up front and ended up both getting the 2 hand hold and eye contact with a huge smile. Also got a set list and a pick from Waddy. My first :D
It was a great show because Stevie made it great. She's a true performer and artist in every sense and even though I'm now stuck in Scranton PA ;) I would do it again. But maybe in a different venue...with different people...in the West...
No offense Easterners. We've met awesome people on this trip who have been very friendly and helpful!!
I may have some audio...I haven't listened to what I was able to get yet but if there's anything decent I'll post it.

Bethel Woods responds to upset fans

BETHEL - The Facebook page for Bethel Woods Center for the Arts was flooded with comments from patrons who could not believe that the music venue did not cancel Saturday’s 8 p.m. Stevie Nicks concert given the pending hurricane that was moving into the region.
Bethel Woods late in the afternoon announced it was moving up the concert an hour, but that didn’t appease customers who noted Nicks still would not be taking the stage until 8. Folks posted that the site was putting fans at risk.
Late Monday Bethel Woods issued a one sentence statement: “Based on data from public and weather authorities, Bethel Woods and Stevie Nicks’ management made the decision not to cancel the concert.”

Please bear with this … I’ve delayed my comments for a number of reasons but mostly because I have been trying to figure out just what was not quite right about last Saturday’s show at Bethel Woods. I mean, Stevie, the band, the girls, the video stuff, Michael Grimm, were all FANTASTIC in every way, and I am so grateful to have heard the new songs which I still play daily, but…As mentioned by others, it is true that most of the crowd was acting like they were there to see a ballet or a play, certainly not a Hall-of-Fame-rock-chick-concert by one of the most influential singer-songwriters in music today! Perhaps it was because many attendees are season pass holders, or that much of the crowd seemed to be on the older end of the fan base and maybe not in a condition to rock out or whatever. Maybe it had to do with the fact that the stage was only about 4 ˝ feet high so anyone standing would become instantly major blockage for others – and that there were nerdy security people sitting in folding chairs two feet from the front row scanning with their baby flashlights for any signs of cameras or recording devices so no crowd could even have had a chance to convene peacefully, lovingly or in any way at the edge to stand for the whole thing (which I would have been, and had hoped to be doing). Good God, ignoring security in order to focus on the musicians was an effort the whole time. However, in the end, I truly believe it came down to the overall effect of the hysteria surrounding the oncoming F**kin HURRICANE (that had decimated parts of NC not 24 hours earlier) and stranded some of the band there the next day! Perhaps all of us had either just shopped for emergency supplies or evacuated our home, left it all behind and driven a long way to this remote place on a mountain in the Catskills just to catch our Stevie on her way through. Like, feeling some heightened sense of caution with continuous adrenaline rush; echoed by Stevie herself as she raised both hands animatedly, “It’s coming, haaa-aghhh, and if it does, we’ll all run out of here”. From that I knew, she was pushing it, as any great performer would want to “go on with the show” and she did, by God, with such a passion and love for this new music that she shared was “refreshing” to her! That was the best thing I heard her say. When the wind would pick up, her fear and humor kicked in, “Irene?”, or “Hm, I kind of like it!”. Even I, who am not known to land on the high end of the compliance scale, put way my camera when the great and powerful Oz requested no photography or videos before the show started. That announcement, coupled with reading about Stevie having to ask fans not to take video, just made me give it up and put it away. Like you want to be a good citizen in times of crisis I guess in order not to add to the perceived chaos. Shouted at to sit down after the ovation for Stand Back, I rose to hoot, holler, clap and dance at the politically correct moments, along with many others who I know were dying to just remain standing. I can say that I learned to dance while sitting – a skill I may need some day I guess. But certainly NOT my M.O. for a Stevie or F-Mac concert…At least sitting in the front row allowed me to have the closest experience possible (thanks Ed and Anna for humoring my taking a seat with you)! I did thoroughly enjoy my time because I could see her again, hold her hand again, just be in her stunning presence again, and get a night out for me…and the museum was fabulous with a special display about Janis, Jimi and Jim, along with 60’s and Woodstock history… but my crowd sounds like it was in Boston this week.
Hopefully I'll be at that kind of show next time. Yeah, thanks for listening...
