So, I was checking Amazon.de (I'm not 100% sure why...) and they've got clips of all the songs! I've listened to Illumination so far and it sounds great!
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B005FU1WK2/ref=dm_sp_alb?ie=UTF8&qid=1313879350&sr=8-1
EDIT: Just got to Rock Away Blind! Damn, that's so good! I can't wait for this album!
EDIT 2: She Smiled Sweetly is possibly a re-recording! It's not the same version as the GOS one. I thought it'd just be a remix but it sounds likes he's redone it. He's certainly got less/no tremolo on the guitar now.

Ah, he sings the remake of She Smiled Sweetly soooo beautiful.....
The intro of the One Take clip is spectacular, as is the whole thing of Rock Away Blind! Catchy!!!!!!!!
I'm very pleased with these clips- again the man has entered new grounds. Unbelievable. I'm really pleased with the fact that all the clips are tied together in a pretty weird soundscape. I hope it wil be there in the complete album too...I guess so.
Wow.

Oh wow!
Rock Away Blind and One Take sound really interesting; Gone Too Far (first we've heard of this at all) definitely has an OOTC feel to it. Didn't know Illumination was so short!
Great find!

try not to be really mean when I say this, but from the clips and I know they are short clips....I dont know if this is as good as I expected it to be. The live version of Stars is way better then the recorded version. And i am a HUGE LB fan. I hope it grows on me.....

Ah Here, now c'mon that the dogs balls I love it.
Really really looking forward to the release now.
Only a couple of weeks to go.
So Cruel though, those 10 second clips really arent enough.
Although the desired effect has worked because I am really wanting more.
Peestie....... Theres no earthly reason, that i can think of as to why you stumbled into Amazon.de. Great find all the same.

The stars-clip is only the "down" part before the chorus. And Live you could hear that it was going to be a weird out-of balance rythmpiece. I bet you have to hear that one as a whole most of all. I'm very pleased. Gone Too Far is also promising and there are some nice crunchy fills in the background of some of the tracks that are pretty exciting.
I would not be surprised if we can say in september that Lindsey reinvented the Glamrock in his own idiosyncratic way for a new generation.

Even if you like it less (I find the clip very promising) we'll have the live version on the DVD anyway so those who like the live ones more can have those as well. It's the best of both worlds.

The back cover art is also up on the amazon.co.uk on the CD release page. It's fairly standard LB stuff - Lindsey looking moody in a grey room.
It also mentions Mind Kit Records so I'm wondering if that's another name for Buckingham Records.

It's interesting to hear he reconfigured She Smiled Sweetly. The jury is still out on that one. However, I love pretty much everything I'm hearing. I am starting to see the OOTC similarities finally as well. I cannot WAIT for this album!!

I'm sitting here ... On the first "listen to" from those clips... Oh dear, hear it goes....
I hear nothing from the OOTC sound...
I hear lots of UTS... With percussion, some what...
Love love love UTS! So don't get me wrong... I've spent thousands of dollars to see him....and I've trapped people in my car.. And many other instances... and force them to listen to "my Lindsey mix"... Really you have no idea how my friends dread when I'm in a "Lindsey Mode".. Ok, maybe you do ;)
But, I'm finding Lindsey NOT doing his "thing" with his music that he, himself, gave us Tusk -- which, to this day, every time I listen to it, I hear something new....
And It seems that when Lindsey got wind that we loved how he played "the what he plays", he went hog wild on it - hence the intensive hand shanking right before he plays Big Love - and went with the "machine" of the style.. And he's "stuck in a rut in his hut" . Yes, his lyrics are more fabulous... Yes, I love love love his guitar playin'..... Speaks to my soul.... But I'm kinda feeling deflated that he's giving us "the machine" of what we love... Maybe, that's just where he's at....
For whatever the reason...
In the end... I'll go on the ride... Cuz, it's always worth it

Wow, thanks for the discovery! I'm really pumped to hear the full album. I'm intrigued by the "new" She Smiled Sweetly, and think...from those 10 sec. clips and the live footage...that Stars, Rock Away, and End of Time are going to be my first favorites. I just want more and absolutely cannot wait to hear some of these live and in person!

why does nobody ever ask him about his method for recording his vocals? Ask Lindsey A Question recently; that should have been mine. Why do I forget? This needs to be addressed.
Of course his answer could be like Scritti Politti's when asked about the difference between his singing voice and his speaking voice: "I didn't know there was a difference." LOL

He "masks" his vocals because he wants to deliver them via an alternate persona. It's his vehicle for adding a bit of mystery to the art. You never know who or what you're gonna get.

Are Lindsey and Kristen starting a record label? I just can't help but think that "Kit" has something to do with Kristen (aka Kit).
Pure speculation. I don't know much about the industry. Do people just create labels for one album when they're self-distributing? Could this be the beginning of a new Buckingham dynasty? ;)

I don't know why ye're all getting so upset about "Stars"... For me that was the only one of the new songs that was painful to listen to live. The others are far more like the Lindsey we know and like. This album is going to be absolutely fantastic, regardless of that silly song. Deal with it. :blob2:

Yet more clips of the album plus the news that there are two bonus tracks! An electric version of the title track and an acoustic version of End of Time.
The clip of SWS (Electric) sounds like nothing I'd have imagined for that song. You've got to hear it to believe it, I think...

Truefaith, I think perhaps LB should have hired you to market his new album. I feel ya!!
So does this mean that I have to purchase the mp3 album in order to have this greatness in my life? On top of the album I pre-ordered and the one I will no doubt have to buy in person because the pre-order won't come in time? And then there's the fact that I have 3 tickets to different shows and then he announces he's coming to Ohio.

 nope, you can always order each MP3 separately (e.g., http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005J55Q5K/ref=dm_dp_trk13). supposedly, w/ the prime shipping amazon order should come on 9/6 (that's why i pre-ordered from amazon on the top of through ticketmaster - i want it on the 6th!).

Well, I say music business because he mentions his publicist. While a bank or company would have a publicist, I'm not sure that individual bankers or hedge fund managers and the like do.

But second(?) verse says the character has not reputation, isn't on any lists because they hire a publicist to make sure nobody hears about what they're doing. I don't think the publicist is working in the traditional sense, they're making sure the things the character does ("the avarice of where I put my fist") don't get made public.
Anyway, best to wait for the whole song before trying to figure out what it means.

And I was thinking more the industry suits. The people whose names you don't know and you'd never recognize them in a restaurant, but they are the power brokers. They not only make decisions about who gets a recording contract, but they also say what goes on Youtube and what gets yanked (to the point where WB doesn't even let its own artists upload their work on Youtube, where it can be enjoyed for free) and they make the deals that obstruct innovation and ensure that consumers pay more for music, movies, and other media than they should, just so the companies can continue to make excessive amounts of money.
So, in that sense it reminds me of the nameless suits in the Wrong video. You know, not Mick, not the managers, but the corporate ones who decided to sue Whitney Harper for downloading music ($750 for each of the 37 songs she copied) onto her personal computer, to make an example of her and protect their royalties.
I like the use of "one take" here, because, as has been discussed, it's a play off of "toke." Furthermore, it refers to the popular phrase "one take" as in a movie scene, but ultimately it means one TAKE, one GRAB, one last act of avarice over the line. Very nice.
Anyway, best to wait for the whole song before trying to figure out what it means.
Fair enough.

I think we're thinking the same thing but I just didn't apply it to the music industry specifically. I was just taking it as a more general comment on the people who run any and/or all industry that we never know about and like to keep it that way. Bankers are just the first group that springs to my mind when I think of that type of character.
EDIT: Actually, it makes me think of the Bullingdon Club. Most of whom actually do end up as bankers...

Speaking of that, Regis Philbin is always joking about this restaurant he goes to all the time and they put his picture on the wall. He says every time he goes there, another picture is higher than his, because this guy is always one upping him. So, every time the guy comes in, he brings a picture of himself that's bigger than Regis' and in a better frame, for them to hang over Regis' picture. Who is this guy? Michael Icahn. And it's just funny to me, because if regular people came into the restaurant, they'd all flock to Regis for an autograph and not give Michael Icahn a second glance, but he's influencing a large chunk of our world.
