Someone emailed me this picture. I think it is an amazing shot of Stevie rocking out. To me it looks like her Stand Back shawl, and was just wondering (for those that have seen the IYD tour so far) if they remember a high kick during the performance. Glad to see Stevie in such great form. Kick It .:thumbsup:

It was taken at the Tweeter Center (now Comcast Center) in Mansfield MA on 7/17/07. There are others taken...I can't remember where I put the other pictures that go with the set.

When did the Stand Back Kick™ start?

I believe it started on the Street Angel Tour. She was definitely doing it in '98 and the few SA shows I have on video she does some type of kick at the end.

You know when you're witness to an accident, or happen to stumble upon a gory image online and you know you shouldn't be as transfixed by the image as you are? And you can't quite bring yourself to look away, and instead study the image in detail as if trying to desensitise yourself to it? Yep. Been staring at her crotch for a few minutes now. I feel all wrong inside. Kind of reminds me of when you'd go to visit your grandmother who's so old that she's lost all sense of shame, and will quite happily sit in her floral skirt with her legs akimbo in her seat, not caring for the small, crotch height children standing in full view who have suddenly become very interested in the design of the carpet. I want to look away. I feel like it's looking back at me.

I believe the reason she is able to kick that high is because she used to do ballet! Apparently ballet dancers have amazing flexibility, for example once you learn how to do the splits you are able to do them forever!

Seems people are either naturally flexible & weak or tight & strong. I am flexible, but can't get my legs behind my head! Next to, maybe. Stevie said she stretches in the mornings because she enjoys it... Good for her. Flexibility is important as one gets older.

You calling me weak, lol? I ought to be offended. But that's pretty hard when you're laughing and nodding your head in agreement :p Though I suppose I proved that wrong when I had to take a dining table (four seater) and two benches down to my aunt's home and managed to carry all of them by myself in one trip :p My upper body's got the lion's share of my strength, most definitely. My weak legs couldn't kick a ball over a garden fence haha!
