I remembered the other day how there was a story in the news about Stevie, I think around the time of Timespace or before Street Angel that the IRS were chasing her for a vast sum of money as she had only been wearing outfits once on stage and therefore spending thousands on lots of different ones but trying to write them off as tax deductible expenses.
Does anyone remember the details of this? It struck me as odd as she doesn't seem to change up her outfits that much

It was my understanding for years that she just paid them the money. Lots of celebrities try to write off taxes, so it's not a huge deal really and common.

I was always amused by her publicist's response. Something along the lines of the clothing needing constant repair, replacement because of her physicalness of her live performances. This at a time when her performances were at their catatonic worst.

Two interesting things I want to comment about from this article:
Nicks also appeals $119,291 claimed as a business expense for payments to her personal manager, along with an additional $33,750 to write off an investment she made in the album Buckingham-Nicks, which she and fellow Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham jointly financed in 1974. That album was overshadowed by the success of Fleetwood Mac's albums, court papers say, and the two decided in 1991 to abandon any efforts to continue to promote it.
Nicks also disputes an IRS decision disallowing $50,160 in expenses to maintain a business office in her Arizona home. In the petition, Short argues that Nicks used the office to compose songs, talk with advisors and executives and conduct her business as a songwriter and performer.
Now maybe this answers the question about the Buckingham Nicks album. It was "decided in 1991 to abondon any efforts to continue to promote it."
Alos, her home office in Phoenix where she composed some of her songs would have been the master bathroom!!!:woohoo:

Why not."LoL".I do alot of good readings in the bathroom.
I'm glad Stevie's got a good head on her shoulders. These business advisors could of take her on a good sleighride with her money and troubles with the IRS like some other artists already have.

You've certainly never heard of money troubles with Stevie or Linds the way we have with say...I don't know--Mick. I think it was a help that both of them grew up in affluent families--they probably were smart enough to immediately hire good attorneys and accountants, make good investments, etc. I think sudden fame and fortune when you've grown up relatively poor would be much harder to manage.
