Just confirmed with the venue that the show is canceled. I won't buy more tickets if she ever schedules here again. Her management must not think we're important enough to keep us on the schedule.

Sorry to hear this. What a downer, three days from the show.
I don't know why they couldn't re-schedule. The logistics wouldn't be easy but not impossible.

I really don’t get this. Instead of moving the Atlanta show up 2 days (not much notice for fans), it should have just been re-scheduled for the end of the tour (still annoying but certainly enough time to let fans plan accordingly) and just keep Indy in tact. Nothing that hasn’t already been said, but I feel the frustration.

I'm so sorry. I am so not a fan of her management or whoever booked this tour. They've made incredibly stupid moves and cost a lot of people a lot of money (not to mention heartbreak).
And, they've broken trust. It's just too much of a risk to buy a ticket out of state to get stuck with the cost of hotels/airfare, etc.

I'm sorry if I am sounding unsympathetic, but: GET OVER IT. Seriously. Yes, it's a bummer. Yes, it has messed up people's schedules and/or bank accounts. But that's life- full of unexpected turns of events (which is why they invented travel insurance). There's no need to take it all so personally and to point fingers in blame. Make lemonade out of lemons. Given Stevie's recent history, buying tickets to any show is a bit of a crapshoot, let alone a show that involves airplanes and hotels. I would rather Stevie cancel a show than to have her stressing out over giving a sh*tty, less-than-100% performance. I'm sure she feels bad about this, perhaps more than y'all ever will. Nobody wins here, especially if y'all harbor a grudge.
BTW, I have had three Stevie cancellations this year alone.

I had a cancellation during her Trouble In Shangri-La tour, and a postponed date during the Fleetwood Mac Behind The Mask tour (that latter one was kind of funny....they were supposed to play Sat night but postponed it to Sun night. Sunday night they played and the band was baffled that the crowd was somewhat muted....well the crowd was muted cuz it was *Sunday night*...everyone had to work the next day! lol).

I think venting is one thing (and very understandable), but it's another thing to accuse people of bad intentions. And even if the show was canceled due to poor ticket sales (which didn't appear to be the case last time I checked), that's their prerogative. Sometimes it's up to circumstances that are simply beyond Stevie's personal control.
Again, sorry if I am sounding unsympathetic. But I have been there, trust me.

There were a handful of cancellations for Unleashed- I think they were somewhere in the West. All I remember with certainty is that when FM came back from the cancellations (Tacoma? Vancouver?), Stevie sounded dreadful. Admittedly there were a number of other shows throughout the tour in which she seemed to be under the weather.

A long time ago probably back in the 80's .I came up with a rule about traveling distance. Its the 300 mile radius
rule.I'm in Connecticut which is the best place to be right in the middle of the action.I know 300 miles dont get me anywhere. So if things like cancelations happen which did happen a few times .I just have to write off the gas and tolls,hotel..but I would love to travel like you guys to go see her. Will rules are made to get broken.

I was really bummed when Greensboro, NC was cancelled during the Unleashed Tour, one of the few Mid-Atlantic concerts. But, alas, Stevie has always had fragile health and this is nothing new. I think the frustrating aspect off all of this is her management isn't communicating to her fans more effectively as to what is happening.

I've known since the Mirage tour - "Plan at Your Own Risk." No matter where I travel or why, I always book on Southwest, since they always give full credit that can be used in the future. If Southwest doesn't fly there, then I wouldn't consider going. And yes, I've had shows cancelled on me after I've already flown somewhere the day before. It sucked. I got over it. I didn't blame Stevie or her management. I just said to a co-worker this morning, "I'm glad I went to Houston because now she's sick and postponed Atlanta." Sad but true, it wouldn't be a Stevie tour unless she got sick.
The stage collapse was tragic, but I would bet my entire SN/Mac collection that it has NOTHING to do with Stevie cancelling Indy.

Whenever I travel for Stevie or FM, I always make sure to have a Plan B, which is basically stuff I would do on vacation- the beach, a hike, another show, etc. Sometimes it really is about the journey as much as the destination. Everything happens for a reason, so there really is nothing you can do about it but make the best of it.

Yep - as someone who LOVES to travel...I put aside some cash each month for my "future travel fun fund," for whatever/whenever. They postponed Edmonton and Calgary in Canada 5/12 & 5/13 2009 because of illness (Stevie) but played Vancouver on 5/15. I'm sure they would have postponed that show too.. but that show grossed one of the largest amounts on the tour. She did look a bit rough that night. Then played Tacoma and 5/16 and on the day of the show in Sacramento 5/18 - they initially postponed the show - but it was later cancelled.
The tour was initially supposed to end 6/20 in New Orleans but they tacked on the rescheduled Edmonton 6/23 and Calgary 6/24 shows likely because they were high grossing dates and it's hard to give that up otherwise how do you justify driving your trucks from New Orleans all the way up to western Canada.
These postponed vs cancelled shows are all about money. If the money is there to make it feasible... they'll work our a rescheduled date.. but if it's not worth going from a business point of view.. they'll just cancel.

Agreed. I haven't been doing this long, but I've already learned not to fly for Stevie unless I would be okay if she delayed/canceled. Unless I know people there and could find other fun things to do there, it's just not worth the risk. We all know that this is hardly unheard of for Stevie, and should plan with the awareness that illness is always a strong possibility.
Cancellations will always be a huge disappointment, but the stakes don't have to be so high.

OK-I was totally the one who blamed management so I'll explain my reasoning.
Stevie has always had health problems with outdoor venues. So, what did they do? They booked nearly 20 shows with nearly all of them (I believe) outdoors. They smooshed the schedule so it takes place within the time span of a month. And, they booked such an incredible amount of press in between that it would be hard for anyone to not get sick. I think I wrote all this out before and edited way too much.
63 is not that old but, given the fact that Stevie no longer lives this fast-paced life all year-long, it's too much.
They just should have taken some of that into account.
And, I was more or less talking about me not willing to travel long distances.
But, although I'm not willing to do the traveling I once did (and I don't encourage anyone else one way or the other), I'm definitely not writing her off by any stretch of the imagination.

I understand you're point and really hate this happened. But, it's not all management's fault either as far as these bookings / schedules go. Stevie cannot sell in an arena as a headliner. She herself said she told her management to book her for the shed tour this summer and that she was intentionally over extending herself in order to promote her album. She got a late summer start to even do those shows so they had no choice but to schedule them all into August.
She is a self-proclaimed workaholic and if it means helping the bottom line, if Stevie says yes then her people are going to gladly make those schedules. I don't know how it all works now, but they probably have "interview days" set up where that's all you do that day and truthfully I would want to get those over with so I could spend the rest of the week doing something else. They never make her do more than 2 concerts in a row. So she should be ok there. She mentioned in an interview that she does what it takes to prepare for her schedules - flying in early to get adjusted to time zones and to have enough time to rest, even taking sleeping pills to make sure she does sleep.
Stevie is a powerful woman and can put her foot down if she chooses. She didn't want to and it may have gotten to her a little. She'll bounce back. I'm just sorry any shows were canceled/postponed.

This is really disappointing. The second show she's cancelled in Indy. TISL was understandable, and even this is understandable on a health standpoint--her health comes first. That being said, it looks really bad that she can reschedule the Atlanta show and leave Indy fans in the dust. I'll always love Stevie, and I understand that she is indeed volatile on her tour presence, but this is a bit of a slap in the face. I guess I just need some time to "get over it."

No one's singling out Indianapolis as THE city to cancel - it's just an unfortunate coincidence.
Stevie has always had tour-related health problems. I don't believe they are specific to outdoor venues. I'm tellin' ya, she needs to use a Neti pot, dammit!
CADreaming said everything else I was gonna say. :p
Sidebar - my other all-time favorite performer, Butch Walker, just announced his tour dates today. And once again, there is not ONE single city booked west of the Mississippi River. The closest show he's got to Texas is Nashville. Of course, it's the same weekend I'm seeing Dolly Parton here and Lindsey Buckingham in Houston. Instead of being a Bitter Betty and blaming his management for not scheduling his shows to suit ME and MY needs - I look at it as an opportunity for another adventure. Cleveland perhaps? I've never been there, and would love to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum.

She has left the Pacific NW in the dust for ages, she never comes here.
Sorry about the cancellation, it must suck to have tix and be all excited but when she's sick there's not much anybody can do. I hope she feels better soon!

The wallpaper on my home computer is a pic of me kissing Butch on the cheek. :) I'm talking REALLY tiny venues, way smaller than a high school auditorium. Places that only hold about 200-250. Looks like the Beachland has a ballroom and a tavern side - they both have live music. I hope Butch is on the Tavern side. Tix go on sale this Friday. I've only heard "Summer of 1989" so far - waiting 'til I get the whole enchilada. I pre-ordered package #3, with the vinyl, t-shirt and playing cards.

No not really. Traveling and the road and shows nightly would get to a 20 year old after long. So I can imagine what she must feel like at her age. She's forever our timeless Stevie, but she's not 27 anymore and can't take on tours like that today. She has to think of herself and take care of herself. :) I just don't want the business to overrun her.

Actually travelling now-a-days on tour at her level is probably pretty easy, it's not like us everyday people who have to do all the leg work for travel ourselves... All that is done for her. She flies private, she has a driver in every city to get her where she needs to be, a tour manager to watch over the schedule and keep things rolling who likely makes sure people are where they are supposed to be for her. She doesn't do her own schlepping of luggage or checking into hotels, that's all done for her... All the personal scheduling stuff is done by her assistant for the most part.
What would be taxing and stressful is that time before a show when she says she has a little stage fright and nervousness that goes away once she's on stage.. That part, even though it's nervousness, is really stress on the system. Then the show. 2 hours on stage giving it her all... She probably boards her plane right after the show for the next city and unwinds... That part would be the taxing part the constant up and down of adrenaline... The travel part would be a piece of cake... Time zones and the not being in one place long enough to really relax would get to you too.

Exactly. And, I have friends her age who have a lot more trouble sleeping. So, that could really be a problem for her and add to the strain on her physically and cause her to get more run down.

There was one recent extensive tour where she made it the whole tour without a single cancellation or postponment. I'm obviously not counting the 2010 "Not a Tour" tour since it was just six shows. I want to say her whole 2005 Two Voices/Gold Dust Tours went off without any cancellations. And I think the 2007 Crystal Visions tour was the same. Correct me if I'm wrong if anyone was personally effected by a cancelled show or just remembers. I also can't remember the SYW tour getting cancelled at any point. And if thats true thats impressive since that was 135 shows.
TISL was probably the worst health related Stevie tour. Even shows she didnt cancell, it was so obvious she was singing sick. Unleashed had many cancelled shows too, but I'm thinking 2003-2008 was a rare 5 year healthy period for Stevie.

Maybe do 10-20 shows a year....here and there....and not bunched all together in a month. She could rest her voice and have longer setlists and a bigger crowd draw.

I hope she continues to tour--she does, after all, love to perform. She shouldn't work a schedule like this again, though. This has clearly been a huge strain on her immune system, and at her age, any viruses she picks up could become very serious, very quickly.
I'm sure spreading out a tour would be far more expensive and I obviously don't know the financial implications, but I hope her health will be top priority going forward. She probably shouldn't be performing two nights in a row, let alone three.

I agree 100 percent. No need to crammed concert tour.I can see they benefit on save money be keeping the trucks and the roadies on the road for a short month then taking the timedoing a tour for 3 months.Ya save money,In the meantime the artist gets sick because of rushing around with alittle recoup time..The lady is 63 years old .give her a break.

Seriously??? read all that is below here...you be 63 years old and have to wear high heeled boots and dance around a stage for 2 hours a night..night after night..in a different bed, different city..it takes it toll...and regardless whether somebody is doing everything for her or not..unless they are physically picking her up and carrying her or she is in a wheel chair its gotta be hard to do all that and then walk ...have you ever watched how she is when she comes off stage?? she has help...you can tell its hard for her...give the poor woman a break..im amazed she is doing as well as she is

Lynn... Yes seriously... Re-read what I posted... I agree it's all part of the 'taking a toll', I'm saying the travel part is probably the easier end of the deal and the actual show lead up on the day, the show itself for 2 hours on stage... and then the coming down from that afterwards can wear you out.. Plus the constant in motion never sitting still long enough to really relax.
