Sounds like the "Time Life" version of Talk to me..?

Much better? Really? I think that is only because anytime we get an alternate take on a song or video that we've seen a thousand times before, it seems more exciting. In my opinion, the one they officially released is better. This one seems a bit more sporadic while the editing on the released one is tighter.

This was the original 1st edit of "Talk To Me" video released to MTV which world premiere in Dec. 1985, while the song was already a top 10 hit. I remember it well, cause as soon as it was re-edited a few weeks later to the version we all know, I was like WTF, why did they cut all the cool background images that sorta came to life in Stevie's little gallery, plus the opening camera panning similar to the "Gypsy" video. I much preferred this version, and would be very interested to know why someone in Stevie's camp felt the need to re-edit it immediately after release. This version has more going on. The one we ended up with is too stark and visually less interesting imo.

The audio "mix" isn't different. But editing of the video is different. I remember seeing this version when it first aired. I always thought it was better than the one that became the standard version. What was the reasoning behind the change? I blame the coke!:D

Thanks so much for posting that. I remember seeing the world premiere and then later on seeing a video which seemed different. I love this premiere.

I always wished there were photos from the making of this video. That would be amazing.

I wish I were a better expert when it comes to Stevie/FM's videos. I wasn't into her in the video heydays and as a fan later in life I haven't been too good about familiarizing myself with them. I should work on this. Note to self. I have a collection of all of them and there is something called YouTube. This shouldn't be too hard.

This video will always be a WTF Moment in Stevie's career, in any edit. I do love the video, but it makes absolutely no sense. I know she is in a sorta art gallery and the art comes to life, but it has no relation to what the song is about. I'd rather would have had her dance around with a telephone.

for those who don't know - the stevie that is dancing in the "lollipop land" is actually a young girl invited by stevie to be in the video because of her uncanny resemblance. if i remember correctly, her name is carol.

Cara Cooke or something like.
The kid is in the all-white dress & white boots, & that footage appears a lot in the background.
That "kid" is probably about 40 now!

Oh weird, I used to credit you for the original upload but now I don't see it. I swear it was there. What's your youtube account and I'll put it back. Thank you for it! I have my own copy on VHS somewhere, I just have to find it.

I always liked the original video edit. Has anyone ever noticed that Chris Nicks is "playing" the saxophone in one clip?

The video is funny because most of the participants have very limited dance skills. Thus, the routine amounts to walking and strutting and turning around. Wow!

Videos aren't necessarily supposed to make sense or provide a coherent visual narrative to the meaning of the song. When they attempt to directly translate the lyrics to the images , it most often comes off as really cheesy.

I think the best videos are those that convey the tonality of the song with surreal, often unexplainable imagery and senarios. That makes them far most interesting and intriguing. It's more artful than literal.

There are a couple of points where Mama looks really high. Also, I love her and Brad dancing in the background. I wish we could have seen more of that. And Mark Goodman is also blazed in that clip at the end. Oh the 80's. :o

I have the original edit of the Seven Wonders if that's what you are referring to but it's also on VHS somewhere so I have to find it. It's not very different at all - Non-fans and even probably most casual fans would never notice. It's just slightly different but different nonetheless
