How lame.

Photo # 6 really pissed me off.

They show hypodermic needles when they talk about Stevie's problems with drugs when she was "growing up" and it just seemed overly dramatic and harsh.

Could just be a hormonal issue on my part though, lol.

You can tell by reading the entire list that whoever picked the pictures to go with the text was rushed or lazy (or both).

Stupid. If she had advanced to injecting cocaine, she would probably have not saved her career, at least not for a while.

Yes. Also, it says Stevie went "under the knife," and talked about Botox instead of the breast implants. Maybe the Botox bit would have been the place for a picture of a syringe.

Not everything lends itself to a full-on slideshow, but try telling web editors that. They want the hits, that is all. Signed, a frustrated cog in the journalism machine.

I saw that too.

Just like that guy who wrote the review of Red Rocks saying that Stevie sang Landslide and the crowd enjoyed it. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u127/lizdrury/emoticons/head-smack.gif

Then it was time for Stevie to take the stage, immediately jumping into playing hits like “Landslide” and “Stand Back,” which were surely the crowd favorites of the evening.

Drug problems "growing up"? I thought she was in her late 20s when that started. Maybe that's what they consider growing up.

Although it should be titled "10 Things You Didn't Know About Stevie Nicks Unless, Of Course, You're A Ledgie." :wavey:

You're upset they didn't have the exact details of her nearly lethal drug addiction correct?  It's not like any one hardcore drug or the various mediums of achieving highs from them are more glamorous than another. Stevie snorted so much coke that she burned a hole through her septum the size of a nickel. She did a line every 15 minutes to quench her addiction, and lost pints of blood and much of her vocal range in the process. The fact she snorted that coke vs shooting it or smoking it doesn't make her any more "classy." It's just odd to me that people paint folks who smoke crack cocaine as trashy (Amy Winehouse), those who shoot drugs are "tragic" (River Phoenix, etc), yet those who simply snort coke are just partiers (like Paris Hilton, et al).

I've never done drugs and think all are bad really, but there are dirtier drugs I think in some instances, heroin being one of the dirtiest to me and awful to kick it seems. Coke is bad but I don't think it makes your teeth fall out and fk up ones face and age you like some others, meth, all that other stuff out there. That's just nasty. But in truth any of these things you do to your body affects you healthwise so one is never better than the other. JMO.

Oh I know that and in no way was I trying to belittle her drug problem. I can only imagine how much it affected her and her life; both while she was using and afterwards. I am glad she got help and do not approve of using coke in any way, shape or form. However, while I agree with you there I also think that other methods of using drugs are going to cause more damage than anything else. Like somebody else said if she had advanced to injecting coke I don't know if she would have been able to make a conscience decision to quit. Since the deciding factor was a visit to a plastic surgeon who warned her of the hole in her nose. I don't know maybe I'm completely wrong; but I do believe there is a difference in methods. None is better than the other but the long term consequences could be different. And if Stevie had to do drugs I'm glad she chose to be relatively safe about it so that when she did decide to come off of it she could do it as seemingly easy as possible:shrug:...does that sound terrible to say?

Also, I think in terms of the list I was more angry about the fact that THEY were the ones not being classy and that many of the facts in regards to Stevie were wrong or just not considerate. They could've done a much better job, even if they still only had the"facts" they had IMHO

Smoking cocaine can make you pick at your face and it will be f*d up for sure! See: David Crosby and his wife, back in the day, Amy Winehouse. I have read that heroin is less toxic than alcohol, but the dirty needles and impurities are what get you. I never looked far enough into that to actually confirm it. (Not that I'd ever want to do that stuff.)

I am reading NYT writer David Carr's memoir now and he used to shoot coke; he said it's worse than heroin, because you have to shoot every 15 or 20 minutes, and you don't nod out, so it's a constant thing.

I don't know how Stevie snorted something every 15 minutes; I tried coke once and the postnasal drip was so irritating I was never even tempted to try it again. Very sad what that, smoking, etc. did to her voice, I'm no expert, but it seems those elements would be more responsible for the degradation of her voice than the Rhiannon performances.

My beef with the slideshow was the photos were badly chosen and didn't enhance the text in many cases.

There might be some truth to that, but a lot of junkies also die from overdosing on "pure" heroin. After the death of two siblings due to heroin addiction, I guess seeing those syringes shook me up a bit.

Oh, gosh, I am so sorry to hear that. I was not trying to downplay the dangers of heroin addiction. I think the book was by Andrew Weil and he was talking about controlled doses, I'm sure. So sorry for your loss.

No worries! I didn't think that at all.
