Fake Stevie Facebook page

Hello all. There is someone pretending to be Stevie Nicks on facebook. Big Surprise...but they are chatting with people and saying things that are totally misrepresenting Miss Nicks...and sadly...these poeple believe it is her. We all know that Stevie doesn't even use computers much less Facebook and posting YouTube videos ALL DAY LONG. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/09/stevie-nicks-rails-agains_n_185077.html

You don't even have to be friends, just click on their profile, then go to the bottom left and click report person. It will give you an option to report them as pretending to be the celebrity....

I guess some of us old fashioned folks are not hip with the new fangled electronics gadgets.Of course I got email.But do have a Trac phone for emergency only.I'm not oue to yap on a cell phone for hours on end.She uses a boombox.I still use mine.It has cassette only.I do have ton of others with cd in the basement since I repair electronic equipment.I dont know why people come up with these fake accounts.

Whoever did this needs to get their facts straight, as well. Singer and Songwriter in Fleetwood Mac from 1967 - Present? Not even a convincing imposter!

A lot of people who have done this before have done it purely to defame the person they're mimicking. Your guess on motive is as good as mine, but there is definitely a level of boredom and "lack of social life" involved, I'm sure. Though I suppose, in some small way, it's rather flattering. You know you've hit the big time when people are pretending to be you on the internet. Not that I'm condoning it. But nobody mimics Martin from the Chip Shop, or Alice from the Launderette. Though personally I'd enjoy reading the Twitter of fat old lecherous Barry from the Brewery.

Anyone seen the documentary Catfish? It's not what the trailer makes it out to be (scary and suspenseful), but is an interesting look into the lives of very bored people with internet access. :laugh:

Same reason Stevie fans think it's their job to promote Stevie's albums by calling radio stations to request songs, writing angry emails to harsh reviewers, buying multiple album copies, etc. Simple love of/devotion to the artist. :shrug:

I actually wasn't "policing" the internet. I happened to like this page on Facebook and noticed a post from the Owner that stated "If Anyone Doubts That i am the true Stevie Nicks ? Please don't add me or request my sites Please O.K.? Love to my trusted and Loyal Fans Stevie Nicks. ♥ " It really annoyed me. Then I saw a post from a fan wanting to know how to donate to her charity for the ipods. That did it for me...

So I came here to the "big dogs"...lol. The true Stevie fans. I figured I could get some help here...

I don't blame you one bit for reporting. Deceiving other fans is wrong and shady people like this need to be stopped quickly, although I don't usually spend my time policing the internet, it's good that some others do end up running across such people I think.

Have you noticed how many 'private' Stevie pages are on facebook? I've added two as friends in the past & one did act like they were Stevie & the other got her ass rimed because people were telling her to change her discription. The fans are the ones that start the 'pages' or 'groups'. I don't get how people can pretend to be a famous person. Reminds me of all the fighting of Stevie 'tribute' people on facebook. It's sad, who gives a **** whom's better than the other. Where's the love?

My intention was never to offend you or anybody else. You are a valuable member of The ledge. I just happened to pick this post to make a point I've been wanting to say for a very long time. I have been guilty of this in the past too so I understand where you are coming from. We want to protect our beautiful Stevie from any harm that might come her way but at some point in time I finally realized that it is up to her and the people she employs to look out for her best interests on the world wide web, not mine.

Reported it. This person is NOT Stevie. As we all know she calls the internet evil. It's a shame that people feel the need they have to impersonate someone and cause harm to others. They are the ones that mess it up for the artists, in this case Stevie and we won't have it :)
