Ok so I ordered the Triad novel that inspired Stevie to write Rhiannon and I have to say I'm only about 100 pages in but the song is a lot eerier to me now. I can see how she would have written the song though. The story is very haunting. The book is good, definitely a page turner. Have any of you read it?

Yes, a good friend gave me a hard cover copy in 1997. It's a cool read, I agree.

I kind of wanna know what she was thinking when she was reading it. I can totally see her enjoying the book and thinking about writing a song about Rhiannon.

I read the book years ago, it was popular during that time in the 70's with Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist. Somehow I can see Stevie reading that book listening to the theme from The Exorcist, "Tubular Bells!" :D

Personally I couldn't see how Rhiannon developed from that book because to me Rhiannon flows better with The Mabinogion story. Have you read The Mabinogion series yet?

My copy of Triad says right on the cover: "For the millions of readers who enjoyed The Exorcist!" And on the back cover: "Much more powerful than Rosemary's Baby because it presents a more terrifying truth!" - Robert Block, author of Pyscho.

I've read the Exorcist and own the director's cut on DVD - I've seen Rosemary's Baby about 20 times, but never read the book. Triad isn't even close to being as scary as The Exorcist. To me, Rosemary's Baby wasn't frightening at all until the last scene. I've often said that my hillbilly, c-word co-worker has Rosemary's Baby's eyes and needs to go back to the swamp she crawled out of, she is truly terrifying.

It's interesting Stevie fans find Triad to be such a good read. I picked it up in a used book store quite a few years back, and devoured it in almost 1 sitting. I found it to be kinda amateurish and silly. The thought of possession by someone you killed is definitely interesting, no doubt. I just don't think Triad dealt with the subject matter in a deep or even believable manner. I'm glad I found the book and read it; I feel like I understand a key piece of Fleetwood Mac back history now. But the book itself & it's contents really didn't alter my life one iota.

Haha I can totally see her doing that and just being entranced in the spooky atmosphere ! As far as reading the Mabinogion series I ordered "The Song of Rhiannon" but when I discovered that that was the third book in the series I want to read the others first. Would you recommend it?

As far as the book goes it's definitely not a literary masterpiece but the story is interesting and it is a little spooky so I would say it is a page turner. And of course it's connection to "Rhiannon" does help ;)

I am laughing :lol: because you did exactly the same thing I did...... ordered, "The Song of Rhiannon" first. And I might add I got it for a whopping 14 cents off Amazon! I liked the story very much and could begin to see how Stevie's version of Rhiannon wove into this series's theme. I like this Rhiannon much better. I am awaiting the other books in the series in the mail, had to order those to get the entire story. There is an old radio interview from I think 1979 on youtube (maybe Jim Ladd?) where he arrives at 2:30 AM at her house. In the course of that interview Stevie discusses Rhiannon and other Rhiannon related songs and says, "You have to read the series to know and understand!"
Soooooo after all these years I am finally reading the series! Since Stevie recommended reading the series I am!

:lol::lol::] Thats way too funny Livia!

Prince Of Annwynn is the most important book, Stevie-wise. Stevie took passages from that book for her song, "The Maker Of Birds".

I read Triad years ago, I wish I still had it. Not the best book ever, but I'm glad I read it. I LOVE the cover, very 'Stevie-esque.'

For those of you reading The Mabinogian, or thinking about it: There is a published edition with all 4 books in one volume, paperback. I got it pretty cheap. You should look into that.

Morgana - Glad to know I'm not the only one who has made that mistake! I saw the name Rhiannon on the cover and was like well this must be the one ! Well I'm just going to have to get the whole series now because if Stevie recommends it's definitely a must have;)! I'm really intrigued by these stories because it's interesting too see what intrigued Stevie so much.

Mike, thanks for the tip. Going to try to find Maker of Birds right now!

OK I just got done reading this novel and what I have to say is that it is super creepy and kind of haunting. Especially considering the fact that I finished it at like 2 a.m I'm sure just made it worse;). Anyways I could totally see Stevie having a "Lucy" moment where Lindsey came in and tapped her on the shoulder while she was reading the book, causing her to throw it out the window:laugh:!

Speaking of I wonder if Stevie watched "I Love Lucy"? I can see her liking it for some reason
