A friend taped this back in the early 80's and I finally got her to dig out the tape so I could upload it here. The vocals appear to be completely live without the overdubs on the released version. When watching the VHS copy I always thought visually it did not sync with the audio during some closeups of Stevie but on this version Stevie's vocal match up with the video perfectly.

HBO also aired a promo in March 1982 right before the concert's premiere, with the un-altered vocals for "Edge Of Seventeen" AND "I Need To Know" ~ what a difference on the latter especially! "I Need To Know" seems to have been re-sung and overdubbed~ even in 1981-82! WELL before the Red Rocks video which everyone bitches about.

I never tire of seeing the "HBO" or "In Concert" videos of this concert, she looks so beautiful. I was about 14 when the video came out. I was already a fan of Stevie since listening to my parents 8 tracks of the White album and Rumours. This video locked me in solid for a lifetime fan of her and her music.

Same here. I was 13 when Bella Donna came out, already knew about the Mac - in particular loved "Sara" from the radio. But when BD was released I was hooked & went out and bought everything from Buckingham Nicks to Fleetwood Mac-Live. Then when the "White Winged Dove" concert aired on HBO, I pretty much sold my soul to Stevie for the rest of my life!!! My super fandom has never wavered - even through the klonopin years - I think that has to do with how big her impact, creativity & devotion was to her art during her heyday. And it's why all these years later I had the biggest grin when she released "In Your Dreams", a record of equal creativity, beauty & greatness as anything from her heyday. I just knew she has another great record in her. TISL was wonderful, but IYD is immaculate.

Wow..thanks for the info Mike! Has I Need To Know from the promo popped up anywhere?

I really like having the original audio for some of the released/broadcasted stuff because that is how Stevie actually sounds when we see her in person. However Stevie always turns in some fabulous re-dub vocals so it's like we're getting 2 shows for the price of one! :D The '94 House of Blues show is a perfect example.

Oh yes, I have it on VHS, just watched the promo at my Mom's on Sunday while looking for the "After The Glitter Fades" German video. Aside from Stevie's overdubs, Lori's WHACKED-OUT out-of-tune vocals are horrible on that promo. She was either mixed down or overdubbed as well in the final product.

There were at least 2 promos on HBO. One short one with "Edge Of Seventeen" and "I Need To Know" as the main songs, and then a longer Inside HBO March 1982 promo, with many of the songs in it, with the touched-up vocal versions.

Very cool! Was there any un-aired footage on the promos?

No, not at all. :(

Just the rawer vocals.
