I've been a huge fan of Stevie forever now, and I've decided to start moving into Christine's solo stuff.
Friend is absolutely fantastic :D
The music kind of reminds me of YMLF.
Anyone have any other Christine recommendations?
I also love Got a Hold on Me :)

Well for whatever reason the embed code won't work, but here's the youtube link to a 1983 Christine McVie concert featuring songs from her new album along with Mac tunes. There are about 7 parts so enjoy! :)

I recommend buying her 1983 self-titled album, as well as her last album "In The Mean Time."

She has tons of Christine Perfect and Chicken Shack recordings too.. Lots of soloing.. which she didn't do as much in FM..
If you love Friend then you'll definitely love You are, which is my personal favourite solo Christine song and one of her best altogether I think.

I know! I discovered it on youtube a while back and always meant to share it here.
One thing I knew for sure - you damn well can tell when Mick Fleetwood is on drums! He nearly blasted my speakers on those Mac tunes.
Alot of FM/Stevie etc. stuff needs to be on DVD like right now!

I remember when MTV was promoting it... I stood by the VCR and taped it in stereo... I wish I knew where the tapes were... I could transfer them.. i had a "HIFI" VHS recorder..

CM's solo material can be sort of bland. In the Meantime is probably her best. If you can find her first album, Christine Perfect, from 1969 or '70, it's worth a listen. At the very least, you should hear her version of I'd Rather Go Blind.

I'd have to agree that her solo stuff is often a little bland. Christine seems to have gone in a warm, mellow direction in her solo career that's less interesting to me, personally, than her FM material. Certainly not bad--probably excellent, in fact, for what it is. But after listening to her '71-'74 FM material obsessively for the last few weeks, Christine McVie and In the Meantime sound a touch anemic in comparison.
Christine Perfect is on iTunes and is my favorite solo album of hers. "I'd Rather go Blind" is the standout, but "Wait and See," "Close to Me," and "For You" are also gems.

Why didn't Christine have a bigger solo career? Was it because she was so devoted to FM? I remember Ann Wilson being asked about a solo career & she said it's because she was true to Heart & didn't have time for a solo career. She's done a number of solo songs for soundtracks & even released a solo album a few years back. I never got into Christine's solo stuff & honestly all I ever knew was her lone solo hit 'Got A Hold On Me', which is awesome! I'll have to listen to some more stuff from her! :)

Christine and Stevie were completely different women. Christine was definitely satisfied with her 30 years in FM and 3 solos albums. Stevie was more of a star and had a high demand for more music. One loved being the center of attention, the other as part of the band.

I don't consider any of Christine's material "bland." Rather, I'd say that there is a range of styles in her material as well as a range of production values. The mid-period FM stuff was more rocking, the 1983 S/T was more produced, 'In the Meantime' is warmer and more intimate. Maybe to some ears those more highly produced ('CM') or more intimate ('ITM') styles sound bland, but I don't agree with that.
Chris only recorded three solo albums, and they are very different one from the other, and all deserve a place in any FM fan's record collection. Her early solo album ('Christine Perfect') contains some of the best keyboard playing of her career, so if you're a fan of Chris as a musician you would enjoy listening to that one, too.

No, that would be Lindsey!
Hence the difference between Christine and Lindsey. Lindsey wanted to be the center of attention and Stevie kind of was.
