Stevie's in number 14 on the UK album chart. Disappointing, but a vast improvement on the #46 that TISL peaked at.

Ouch. Considering she worked her a$$ off promoting and signed a gazillion copies she deserved a top 5 place, but not even top 10?! : blaming Glastonbury.

In all fairness, the promotion she did wasn't the greatest outlet. The Radio 2 promotion was excellent, but Loose Women is a day time show - she should've done Jools Holland or Graham Norton and a few live performances.

Still, this is her highest charting in the UK in years, so lets be thankful for that!

It's still a top twenty placement, and in a country where she's virtually unknown, it's pretty great, I'd say.

That's a shame since it was at #7 in the midweeks. Still, definitely an improvement on TISL.

Btw, TISL peaked at #43 in the UK not #46.

I have no clue about the charts anymore tbh. I'm just happy she charted and is getting some airplay. So many people probably ordered from the US as we had to wait so long for the release over here

I thought it was going to be top 10 easy. Sorta disappointed.

I was hoping for top 10 - but hey this has been a great week for UK Stevie fans. This time last week it was nearly her set in Hyde Park - and then the signing on Monday!

I just hope that she does some tour dates here later in the year regardless of not making the top 10.

so how many copies did it sell?

Agreed! And with the current state of the music industry, I think actually creating a good album and getting the immensely positive reviews (as Stevie has been doing here) counts way more than chart positions.

One of the problems is the fact that it was out in the US weeks ago, and there must have been a lot of people like me who couldn't wait so ordered it on import. Saying that, number 14 is better than I expected with the lack of a hit single to promote it.

Well, "Secret Love" is still on the BBC's A list for radio airplay for its 4th consecutive week. She's sharing space with the likes of Adele and Coldplay, which is pretty cool to me.

:) with the likes of Adele and Coldplay? I would hardly call them special.

special or not, they are both HUGE artists. Adele's "21" is actually incredible - I think she deserves all the credit she gets for that little masterpiece! I think the point was, is that Stevie is getting the same kind of airplay as those huge artists

Doubtful. The album isn't going to move much in the charts unless she does some more promotion over here. Yes, Hard Rock Calling was great and she had her little appearances on Breakfast and Loose Women and some radio interviews and specials but they don't give mass exposure - they all pale in comparison to what she's beein doing in the US. Such a shame...

I'd have to agree here, I think IYD has had it's little day in the sun in the UK, and now it's done. I would have liked to have seen more promotion from Stevie over here, since I loved her Breakfast and Loose Women slots, but, she's really a pre-dominantly American Star with a world famous name. If that makes sense.

You've hit the nail on the head here and got to the heart of what seems to be Stevie's confusion about other markets. Yes, she may be a predominantly American music artist in that her solo career is most successful over there, but she is famous in other territories (world famous) and if she bothered to capitalise on that fame she wouldn;t have to be a predominantly American Star.

I'm still holding out for some UK dates - although I'm not as optimistic as I was a few weeks ago
