HMV London signing

just got back from the signing and my first ever meet with Stevie..:]. It was quite mobbed! I was lucky enough to be one of the first up to meet her after she did a really sweet speech. She mentioned how sad she was about the death of great record shops like HMV which just don't exist any more in USA and the onslaught of digital down loads . Anyway it was just magical to spend just a few seconds with her and get my photo opportunity.....I think she was a little freaked out by the size of the crowd and how she was going to get through them all....hope no one was dissaponted..:sorry:

So this probably marks the end of a truly unprecidented UK promotional tour! So much amazing coverage and reviews and of course her truly memorable performance at Hyde Park London yesterday in front of 40,000 people on the most beautiful hot and sunny day !!......COME BACK SOON STEVIE US BRITS LOVE YOU !!!! :thumbsup:

I've just got back home too. Am on such a high. Was a really great turn out. Stevie was lovely - and great that she signed everyone's name too, rather than just quickly signing her own name.

I hope that after the reception she has received in the UK over the last few weeks, that she decides to play a couple of dates here. Finger crossed!

Everybody keeps talking about the "London Heat" in regards to Stevie's clothing for the Hard Rock Calling show and now this HMV signing. I just looked online, the highs are in the 70s over there right now... that's a winter day in Texas! :p

Gotta say that I love, love, LOVE Stevie's hair! :nod: And I think it's cute Stevie's boots match her hair hehe.

Meeting Stevie was AMAZING. She looked beautiful and was really sweet and genuine. I asked about Lori and Sharon, and she laughed and said "that's so funny because I was literally just thinking about them before you came up, and how much they would have loved this whole experience." Then she looked up at me and (jokingly) said, "We must be on the same wavelength. You and I must have a deep, spiritual connection." I could have died. Just DIED!!

Just a quick write-up about my meet with Stevie (still on a high !)

Security were on the whole very good but one guy was an a.rse. He had been herding us about all day long during our wait in the alley beside the store - I know he was only following orders but they said that about the nazis.

Anyway.

I had 3 CD booklets, 1 for me and 2 for friends plus a small photo of my daughter who is named ... Stevie :D She was 10 last week and I've always dreamt of getting the chance to tell Stevie about her, never thinking it would really happen.

Went forward with my buddies Sarah (in her top hat) and Mike and we waited. The annoying security guy took my CD booklets (we had to write the names we wanted signing on post it notes beforehand) then he spotted the photo -
Him: 'You can't have that, put it away !'
Me: No *glaring*
Him: Put it in your bag ! NOW !
Me: I don't have a bag *stern faced* (I'm a 5' 2", plump, middle aged mom but if he had tried to get rid of me at this point, 3 feet away from Stevie, I'd have broken his face :cool:)

Then it's my turn.

Anyone there that day will tell you that Ms. N looked *stunning* and she did. Up close she is flawless and her hair was fabulous. Karen J. was to her left and another guy was to her right. This is how it went:

Me: Hi Stevie !
SN: (Reading the CD booklets) Colette ?
Me: No, that's my friend - I'm Lisa
SN: Hi Lisa (smile) Then she's signing and I said ...
Me: I hope it's OK to show this to you as I know I don't have long but it's a photo of my little girl who is named Stevie after you
SN: (taking the photo)Oh ! Isn't she precious ?! Look at her face !
Karen J: Is this photo for Stevie ?
Me: Well, yes, if she'd like it ... ??
SN: Yes, I want to keep it because I draw, so ... (hands it to Karen) please make sure that this is put with my stuff.
Me: She loves your music too ...
SN: Well, I hope she likes the new album because I love it !
Me: The show last night was fantastic ! And isn't Rod great ?
SN: Oh, I'm so glad you liked it ! Rod is a lot of fun ... (she carried on talking and looking right at me and I suddenly realised 'OMG, I'm chatting to Stevie Nicks ! So, in the middle of her talking I just blew her a kiss :p She stopped, cocked her head to one side and just beamed at me, sort of shyly if you see what I mean)

I loved your comment re: Stevie aura of dignity/elegance being both intimidating and enthralling... Akin to Plato's forms. I have felt this same exact fleeting yet overwhelming sensation when I've been in close contact with Stevie before. It's an intoxicating high, but your afraid to get too close and be consumed by the fire.

I cannot believe how lucky I was to be one of the people Stevie's manager chose to snap shot, so glad it was taken before tears started rolling...
as the joy of proximity faded away I was shaking so hard!
The thing that surprised me the most is that her spoken voice is more piquant than her singing voice... I mean I could listen to her just talking for hours, I wish she'd do some sort of literary talk, on all the references in her songs etc etc It would be beyond anything else...

I always get self-conscious at gigs. Because of my height and my hair, I worry that people behind me get pissed off at me.

I'm so gutted I missed this. I'd changed my train ticket, but burnt really badly at Hyde Park the day before (I had to go to hospital and was told I have 2nd degree burns :eek:) and couldn't sit outside to wait. It's really great to read all your experiences though - it looks as amazing as I'd hoped it would be!

I took two cd sleeves for Stevie to sign one for my daughter but put both our names on the stcky we were given - as i was standing infront of Stevie the security man (the tall one) told me she would not do two and then a women came forward which I assume was Karen and Stevie was saying what's your name and which is your daughter and then Karen repeated!!! But the security man told me to put the other sleeve in my bag so only got one signed with both our names on it. Were all those security guards from the Stevie camp then?? I assumed they were HMV??:shrug:

That sounds unfair. From what I've seen others got numerous sleeves signed. Were you far back in the queue? Maybe time was getting on?

:mad: That security guy was an arsehole ! She said that she would see *everyone* and sign as many copies of the CD as you had. I hope he wasn't one of Stevie's security. He was up and down the alleyway all day too, herding us around - he wouldn't let us move over to the other side at one point to get shade ! Eejit.

Yes he sure was but by the time I got to Stevie it was around 7.15 and one of the staff said they were shutting the shop at 8pm or was it 8.30 and there were a lot of people behind me still waiting. But it wouldn't have hurst for Stevie to sign both and I felt lke he interfered with my few seconds with Stevie - I should have just asked her directly!! :wavey:

purplehaze, where abouts did you manage to find your picture? I tried looking for more, firsty by enquiring to hmv, who then told me to try the photographer directly which i did, and he wasn't too happy to be contacted, and wasn't willing to help!
