The Riverstage is an outdoor amphitheatre in the City Botanic Gardens. I have been there about half a dozen times, most recently to see the Foo Fighters flood relief concert.

Tickets normally comprise two categories of reserved seating on the flat part immediately in front of the stage, and then general admission on the grass up the hill (a nice place to spread out with a picnic rug).

I've usually sat within the first 10 rows, and have generally had no complaints. I stood halfway up the hill for the Foo Fighters, and again, the sound and view was all good.

My only complaint with the actual concert was when I saw Roxy Music there earlier this year - I was a few rows from the front and off to the side and the sound was pretty poor. I'm not sure if it was just the sound that night, or if it was because we were rather close to the speakers, but I'll be trying for something more in the centre to hopefully avoid any problems. In saying that, I could make out Stevie's songs through a stampede of chainsaw-carrying elephants, so I doubt it'll matter ;)

In terms of food, drinks etc., the venue's rather limited and the lines can be long, but I wouldn't expect it to be sold out so not so much of an issue.

On a beautiful December day it should be fantastic. Just keep your fingers crossed that the rain holds off!

Thanks for the heads up, I'm really surprised with not only her performing at Brisbane's Riverstage venue, but Mornington racecourse, ACT & Wollongong.. I'm pretty sure most of these venue's will be a first for Stevie's Solo concerts???? Risky & very strange indeed, esp Mornington being a far distance from the city of Melb:shrug: So tickets go on sale on the 6th July, fingers crossed for a great 3rd row middle seat!!! im so excited & cant wait to see Stevie perform some new songs from IYD's: & the rest of her amazing songs. My only concern is finding the venue without getting lost like i always seem to do when i venture into Brissy, and that we have a dry wet season, im hoping at least the stage is covered..

I'm surprised about the shows in Wollongong, Newcastle and Canberra too (although as a Canberran I think it's nice to see people share the love with our nation's capital). I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of them fall over - it seems a touch too ambitious (but of course I hope I'm wrong).

Mick played the Riverstage last year with his blues band, opening for Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs - I wonder if he's said good things about it to Stevie? It was actually a dog of a night he played, torrential rain and everything for part of the show, but it really is a lovely venue. (The stage is covered, and if the wind holds off, the first few rows are generally safe too.)

The stage is just a short stroll through the botanic gardens, so very handy if you're staying in the city. The directions through the gardens aren't great (if present at all, come to think of it), but you can usually just follow the masses.

Would you believe I'm just about to head off camping in the Northern Territory for two weeks and am going to miss the onsale date? I'm leaving very tight instructions with my mother, but I wish I could do it myself. She's actually terrified of doing it wrong, so I'll probably also have to leave soothing messages of comfort in case things go pear-shaped

Yay Matt lucky you!! who would of thought 3 different venues in NSW''s, all the best to you all with presale tickets as we know it's kinda a lottery in a way. I'm more than happy to go solo again as i had the best time when the Mac was last in town. I must admit I'm a closet Stevie fan, nobody in my world know how much i adore Stevie & her music, so for me its great meeting like minded Stevie & Mac fans before, during & after the show:thumbsup:

What are the seats like? I'm unsure whether to buy now from preferred seating or use the presale. I also wondered if it would be possible to buy direct from the entertainment centre? I work about 5 minutes away so was thinking I could walk down but not sure if it would be worth it? I plan to go to the entertainment centre and Wollongong so happy to meet with other ledgies!

Hi there lovely. I remember meeting you when Stevie came out last time.
I'm going to try presale tomorrow, see what comes up. Then i'll try presale on Friday as well and see what comes up. Then i'll also try general release and see what comes up then too.

I'm having troulbe keeping up with all thats happening. I still have to catch up with reading through all the ledgies threads, all the concerts past and future. I need to dedicate some serious time to getting my Stevie shi% together!

I never thought I'd get the chance to see Stevie perform live in this country after missing the 'Gold Dust Woman' tour 5 or so years ago, so seeing her twice with Fleetwood Mac in 2009 was an amazing thrill. Hearing about the solo tour at the end of the year has meant I've been walking around looking like this for the past few days:

:]

I managed 3rd row tickets smack bang in the centre for Sydney in the McManus presale today. Very happy!

Hi Chris, i know the feeling i can not get the grin off my face too:):) this will be my first Stevie Solo concert, due to not knowing she was even touring .. Thank goodness for the Internet & The Ledge or I'd still be in the dark...

You mentioned that you got smack bang in the centre seats:thumbsup:, how did you manage getting details of your exact seats?? did you go through Preferred seating?? sorry for all the questions I'm just curious.. I purchased mine yesterday via presale P/Seating, but will not know my seat position till my ticket arrives in the mail 2 weeks before the concert..

I managed to get Row J for the music bowl in Melbs. i was pretty happy with that. i always consider the first 5 or so rows sold to media aayway, so tenth row is excellent.

Thanks anyway, i tried that site & it would of been great, but i was still unable to checkout my seat/row due to purchasing via Presale /Preferred seating, but on the flipside they do state they reserve the best platinum seats, first in best dressed arrangement. I'm really hoping they start from the centre & work there way across. :

New addition to Stevie Nicks and Dave Stewart tour

13 July 2011

Former Westlife band member and Australia’s Got Talent judge Brian McFadden is to join two pop icons – Stevie Nicks and Dave Stewart – at a national tour in November and December later this year, it has been announced.

“I am looking forward to getting back out and touring because the stage is where I feel most comfortable,” McFadden said.

McFadden will perform alongside Stevie and Dave at a series of concerts at all Australian capital cities.

An enduring musical icon, Stevie Nicks is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, regarded as one of the best music groups in history. Their 1977 album, Rumours, which won the coveted Grammy Award for ‘Album of the Year’, stands as one of the greatest albums ever made. It recently enjoyed a revival when it was featured in an episode of Glee. In the wake of the show, Rumours returned to the Australian charts at number two.

Stevie has also had an extensive solo career with hits like ‘Edge of Seventeen’, ‘Leather and Lace’, ‘Stand Back’ and ‘Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around’. Along with her work with Fleetwood Mac, Stevie has amassed more forty Top 50 hits, selling more than 140 million albums worldwide.

At the concert, Stevie will be performing a range of Fleetwood Macs greatest hits, along with highlights from her solo career.

Joining Stevie on stage is Grammy and BRIT award-winning musician, songwriter and producer Dave Stewart. Best known for his work with Eurythmics, Dave recently co-produced and co-wrote tracks from Stevie’s latest album, In Your Dreams.

Expect to hear Eurythmics classics such as ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’ and ‘Would I Lie to You’ as well as tracks from Dave’s stellar repertoire including ‘I Only Want To Be With You (The Tourists)’.

Brought to Australia by McManus Entertainment, this rare concert featuring two icons supported by the talented Brian McFadden is a musical experience not to be missed.

Hello Guys, My front row ticket for the Brisbane show just arrived in the mail, I have had some very disappointing experiences over the years trying to get my hands on front row Stevie/ Fleetwood mac tickets, back in 2003 when Fleetwood mac toured I lined up at ticketek at 4 am to get front row tickets I only managed to get 3rd row right on the end even though the people behind me all got front row center, the same thing happened to me for the second Brisbane show, when Stevie toured in 2006 i lined up again and was second in line and only got 10th row tickets, for the gold coast show that same year there was a 2nd row single ticket that was on the ticketek website for months leading up to the gold coast show so i purchased it and ended up leaning on the stage for the whole concert :) ....When the tickets went on sale for the Brisbane show 2011, i sat at home and at 9am sharp i logged on to buy my ticket, I rejected about 5 offers for 10th row tickets 4th row 9th row etc and at five past 9 I got offered a front row ticket close to the center of the stage...just thought id share my experience...

That's great your ticket arrived so soon, for some stupid reason P/Seating post them 2 weeks before the concert:shrug: I bought 1 platinum ticket 2 weeks before they went on sale to the general public. Its killing me not knowing where my seat will be.. Parking might be a problem, being so close to the city,[Riverstage ] got any suggestions lol ????.. I'm driving from the Sunny coast, & have no idea how to get there yet. I can see myself driving around in circles trying to find this place..lol

Hi, I have been to the riverstage numerous times over the last 10 years, the last time i actually booked a room and stayed about a 5 min walk from the stage, this time i will probably drive in and park in the queen street mall which is about a 15 minute walk it seems to be the cheapest although because its a Saturday night im expecting to pay $40-$50 for parking, the city is pretty small so i dont think you will have too much problems getting lost, do you know what row you will be in or dio you only find out once you get your ticket?

Aussie W/Heart
07-13-2011, 09:43 PM
Every time i go to Brisbane i get lost.lol $50 parking that's crazy!! So there's no street parking sort of close to the venue?? I wont know till my ticket arrives 2 weeks before... which is annoying

aussie1981
07-13-2011, 09:55 PM
unfortunately I have lived in Brisbane my whole life (almost 30 years) I know it like the back of my hand lol, you might be lucky to get street parking although I highly doubt it because it will be a Saturday night around Christmas, there have been times on weeknights where I have tried to find street parking and have been unsuccessful :( the riverstage really sux as a venue because there is hardly any parking close by :(

If this tour is going to be about what is written in this article (Originally Posted by Livia

I'm sure Starshine would agree, so many missed oppurtunities.

Stevie, you need to perform your new record!!!

I don't think Stevie would be bringing Dave Stewart along if she was going to do just her greatest hits. The fact that Dave is there will make these shows unique!

I found this interesting, Ive just received an email from Preferred Seating, saying this

Support Act starting time : 6pm - 620pm

Dave Stewart: 6.45pm - 7.30pm

Stevie Nicks: 8pm - 10pm

I wasn't aware Dave & his band were playing before Stevie's show:shrug: for some reason i was thinking he was just going to sing & play guitar on a few of Stevie''s songs.. so anyway that's a bonus & a nice surprise

Well if this is correct then Brian McFadden will only be on for 20 minutes, which I can probably cope with (it'll probbaly take me that amount of time to get served at the bar anyway!)

A Hobart date (that's right, Hobart!) has been added for Saturday 10 December. Tickets go on sale from 9am tomorrow through Ticketmaster.

Not that I think we have many Tassie ledgies here, but I know I was initially very sceptical that shows like Canberra and Wollongong would sell. You would think adding a first-ever show in Tasmania is a great sign

One ledgie is ex-Tassie! All those years growing up in Hobart and never thought I would see the day! I've followed Stevie and FM around Oz and the US and it seems kind of strange she'll be going there. I assume it's been added because sales in those other smaller cities have been good. New Zealand must be going to follow-on from Hobart.

Smaller venue for Nicks
SIMON COLLINS, The West Australian
Updated November 4, 2011, 1:00 pm

In perhaps a sign of the economic times or simply that fans have seen her before, Stevie Nicks' Perth show on November 26 has shifted from nib Stadium to the smaller WA Athletics Stadium in Mt Claremont.

Tickets are valid for the new venue, with free parking available for "existing ticketholders".

The Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, who collaborated with Nicks on her latest album, In Your Dreams, will support.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster outlets.
