The GREAT thing about the BBC is everything is archived, so you can go back and listen to it after the fact... I love that!
Plus the BBC Breakfast show can be watched online too...

She's been trending on twitter in the UK since this morning as well. It's probably much easier to promote in the UK, rather than the US, because of how small our country is.

Nice interview in some ways, but I have to laugh that Stevie couldn't resist crossing the pond to tell the UK that Lindsey did nothing to pay rent back in 1974.
Also, I like that they show the clip from the IAF video, but why on earth would they show "Everywhere" for a Stevie solo interview? The audience gets to see & hear Christine. I figured maybe they would ask Stevie about her or something.

Will anyone be able to shorten that to the just Stevie part? The reason I ask is my satellite broadband won't tolerate a long playing vid w/o slowing down my internet to the speed of mud! *sigh* One of the drawbacks to living in the rural countryside where DSL or high speed satellite hasn't arrived yet! :distress:

If they wanted to illustrate her work with the mac I thought it would be one of Stevies songs or at least part of the vt which showed stevie!!

I loved this interview. I love watching Stevie with her hand gestures and seeing those gloveless hands.. Sara's father had made for her the moon necklace with 32 diamonds in it representing the 32 shows his daughter had attended with Stevie. And lastly, loved looking at those sexy platform heels.
Thank you for posting this.:xoxo:

You're welcome. It is a beautiful necklace and a poignant gift too.
Stevie said back in April:
'In Your Dreams' is dedicated to "Sara, my sweet girl," tell me about her?
Sara was a girl that had a very rare kind of cancer, and our friend Lisa Loeb connected me and her parents. They brought her to a show, and we became very close. She was about 21 when I met her, and she'd been fighting this cancer since she was 17. I was in very close contact with her and her parents through three years. In 2008, [after a Fleetwood Mac tour], I flew to Pennsylvania and spent a day with her. She died three days later.
I lost my best friend to leukemia 30 years ago. There was a very similar feeling, except that when I lost Robin [Anderson], I was on the road and everybody was high, so it was horrible. I never got to really grieve about that because I was in the midst of this whole big Fleetwood Mac thing. But when Sara died, I was in Mexico in a very quiet house, and I was hit extremely hard. She loved my music so much, and she wanted me to do another record so much, and I was still on that "I'm never going to do another record" kick.
I just loved her so much, and it was very hard to lose her. She fought a really good fight between 17 and 24, and I dedicated the record to her because I felt in so many ways that it belonged to her.

I think they showed Everywhere because that song and video were a big hit in the UK. I also think the version of the video was different there. One shows Chris, Mick and John, the other does not. I guess they were just trying to highlight that she was a member of FM and people would go "OHH, yah, THATs who Fleetwood Mac is" Though I think Little lies would have been a better choice.
Oh, and notice NO GLOVES! and her hands look just fine.

She does make him sound inept in practical matters of life sometimes. "Lindsey? Well, what was he going to do?" In another interview Stevie said, "I had the college education . . . ." Stevie could type and she had taken stenography back in the day. (anyone here even know what that is anymore?) Lindsey could swim (lifeguarding?), he had some sort of telephone sales job, he passed bad checks, and he ONE TIME used her electric skillet on the stove top and ruined it. Maybe he just didn't like hamburger helper that was being served up. Stevie waitressed, cooked, cleaned and sewed little embroidery patch stars and moons on his jeans. Maybe he was inept--or perhaps he really believed in his dream. Lindsey focused on his craft, made it possible for them BOTH to join Fleetwood Mac, and they became multi-millionares.

He probably thinks "Golly, I am SO glad I dumped that crazy bi@%h before I married her! She would have nagged me to death before I was 50!"
Stevie, after being married to Lindsey 35 years.- "Lindsey! Take out the garbage! Why don't you call me from work? You never bring me chocolates anymore. Put your damned shoes away you filthy pig I'm not your slave! Why don't you get off your La-z-boy and mow the lawn instead of watching Fox News all the time? Get in here and get this salad bowl down from the top shelf I cant reach it! Why can't you be a real man and talk about your feelings? Where the hell are my scissors? did you use them to trim your sideburns again? You put the whites and the colors together AGAIN? Pick up these dirty underwears off the bedroom floor! HOw hard is it to pick up underwear? Jesus christ Lindsey! Did you finish hanging up the christmas lights yet? How come whenever my mother comes to town you suddenly have to work late or go out of town? Why cant you remember our anniversary? Why dont you have any drive in life to get a better job so We can move out of this dump? I do ALL the work in this relationship. If it were not for me we would still be living in an apartment in Hollywood! "

Watching the clip they showed for the SYW Concert it reminded me that I've always noticed a pretty distinct difference in Stevie's demeanor when she performs with FM versus solo. With FM she's very low-key, and some who wouldn't be as familiar with her could even mistake that for unhappiness (although we all know she loves being a part of that band).
It's just weird how different she is. I've never seen Lindsey solo- is his demeanor different as well?

Stevie disappoints me very greatly sometimes. Why does she feel the need to destroy a man's ego just to make herself feel more important? Why only that man? I really don't think she's being snarky when she points out her contribution. I think she's being (or trying to be) funny about Lindsey and she usually clarifies her comments with the fact that she didn't mind working, that she actually liked it, and that it gave Lindsey the extra time to work on their music. She's said so many times how much of an artist he is and how that in itself made it more difficult for him to have a regular 9to5, not that he's inept, per se. And, it makes me think she just wants to stress what she did by keeping them afloat was just as important a factor in their success because without her doing that Lindsey wouldn't have had the freedom to develop his craft and mold their sound. I think she's right (other than my wondering if Jess Nicks or Morris Buckingham money needs to be figured in here...), but I bet Lindsey ain't complain'...

From the solo shows I've seen compared to the Mac shows, Stevie exhibited no difference that I could tell. I think she has good days and bad days and maybe her mood comes through better at times. She is obviously no where near as energetic as she was back in the day - Mac or solo...

Because his crowds are so small, he can hear people in the audience and he sometimes replies when they say things and makes jokes back at them, so it's a little lighter, congenial and more personal, but his style is the same. He does perform differently sometimes though. For instance, the way he's acting on The Dance dvd is not the way he acted during the live tour or the way he acts live in general.

I don't think her intention was to make him appear inept. I take it as her giving him a backhanded compliment - as if to say he's such an amazing musician, why would he be wasting his time doing anything but nuturing that talent.

It stands to reason that your demeanor would change slightly if you performing a solo show as opposed to an band show, where you are among other prominent performers.
I think when Stevie is with Fleetwood Mac (especially when Christine was in the band), she is respectful that she's part of a band, and not the only star of the show, so she acts more like a team member.
I've seen Lindsey in solo concerts many times. His demeanor is consistent as always: Lindsey being Lindsey.

Ever since I read the Warren Zevon book where the guy said that he asked Lindsey why he was joining FM when he was making $400 a week on the road, I questioned Stevie about being their sole support. Maybe she was in the early seventies, but not in 1974. Then, after the SYW tour, she herself said that when she left Lindsey that time, she ran out of money and had to return to him and eat crow by asking to be taken back in. So, the fact that Lindsey still had the apartment when she got back and she had no money tells me that he must have had an independent source of income -- unless Richard was supporting him. Although, I don't know why Richard would that.
Lindsey either had money coming in from his family or some other place, but it was enough to at least make rent payments while Stevie was gone.

Good point about the Zevon book. Based on the stuff Stevie says in interviews we are supposed to believe without question that Lindsey was unable to support himself. It's not true. He did have an inheritance that kept both of them afloat for two years. When that ran out he worked for a living in the studio and on the road. Before the call to join FM came Lindsey was working at Sound City the first day Mick checked out the studio. The studio time Lindsey used while working on BN2 didn't come free.

That's right- Gary Hodges met LB because he was a session player. So, LB was working - just not a "normal" job like Stevie was doing. I half wondered if she was just doing it to get out of the apartment and maybe have her own spending money, you know to buy records, makeup and clothes... Lol

Remember how she talked about spending all her money to buy the blouse she wore on the cover of BN? Then they told her to take her top off:laugh:.
I wonder if she still has that blouse. I think that would be worth more than the stage clothes she wore once they became famous.
That's rigt- Gary Hodges met LB because he was a session player.
I guess there was a time when LB eschewed session work, but I think in 1974 he succumbed and started doing it. But Waddy did say that he always asked Lindsey to come out with him earlier and Lindsey refused. Waddy told him he should stop spending all of his time working with Stevie's songs. I can't remember what Waddy called them, something like the vine and the flower or something. He said Lindsey needed to get away from all that and, of course, Waddy came to eat his own words.
On Charlie Rose Lindsey said that the money he inherited sustained them for a time. But he emphasized those words "for a time," indicating that the funds ran out pretty soon. I had always assumed he spent it all on the musical equipment until that interview. Then, I realized that he must have had a little left over when they first got to Southern Cal.

Gary Hodges said the session work they did was in '72. Funny about Waddy! Has a great ear, doesn't he? And, this is the guy who is her music director? LOL!
