According to this new "In Your Dreams Tour" Live Nation press release:

Tickets for the Verizon Theatre concert go on sale beginning Friday, June 24 at 10am and may be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. Ticket prices are $65, $85, and $125.
“We are pleased to welcome Stevie Nicks back to the Dallas / Fort Worth area,” said Danny Eaton, Live Nation Senior Vice President. “North Texas looks forward to an amazing summer concert with this legendary artist!”
Public on-sale will begin Friday, June 24 at 10 a.m.
Nicks, a multi Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, most recently toured on ‘The Heart + Soul Tour’ with Rod Stewart. In Your Dreams has received glowing reviews including US Magazine who declared it "the best album of Nicks' four-decade career." Nicks has enjoyed extraordinary success as a solo artist, live performer, and member of the legendary band, Fleetwood Mac. Her new single "For What It's Worth" has just been released by Reprise Records.

Could this be!? "For What It's Worth" as the 2nd single from IYD.
This is a left turn I wasn't expecting. But this decision could be gold. Not only can Stevie perform this song pretty consistently (on a potential talk show circuit during the tour) But I can see this song doing pretty well on Triple A (which already plays Landslide to death) and even AC with its familiar and classic SN/FM sound.

I was just thinking yesterday that this would be the next single. (I also think it should have been the opening song on the album.) I think it's in many ways a smart choice. I like the verses a lot, but still really dislike her vocal on the chorus. All the same, the song has a certain integrity to it that should reach an audience. It's serious & respectable, especially for listeners who are fed up with radio today. Nothing about FWIW sounds like an older rocker trying to be catchy or current for the pop charts, and the lyrics are better than the kind of "Every Day" drek she has fed to the A/C charts for years. And hopefully country fans will like it as well.

It's always so interesting to find what others like or dislike, we are a diverse bag of mixed nuts that's for sure. I ♥love♥ Stevie's harmony on FWIW's chorus :xoxo: I can never get enough of Stevie singing harmony with herself. I wish she would do it more often - that's her sweet spot imo.

I usually like her harmonies, too. Just don't think it's executed well here. I want to like that part. It's not the backing vocal that sounds wrong to me. It's the main vocal on the chorus that sounds flat as a pancake and...deeper than a deep well. God's Garden-esque. Fortunately I like the rest of the song. And I'm guessing many people will take to it just because it sounds like a throwback to purer folk-rock days.

I love the song, but I'm not sure I see it as single-worthy to non- fans.

I thought that, too. But maybe she can still film it, & this one might be free from Dave's jarring camera work. I like the guy, but this song does not need all those special effects that are in the "Secret Love" video & "Moonlight" clips. Really, this song would do fine with her just sitting in contemplation on a train. Should make her happy if she gets to wear a Victorian dress.

I think that's an awesome choice for a second single. Favorite track off the record, and I think it'll spark the interest of the Rumours-lineup-Fleetwood Mac fanbase that aren't as inclined to "new solo projects" - maybe?
For What It's Worth, it's an all around good single choice;) (pun intended)

Really glad the second single got released but feel a better song (In Your Dreams, Moonlight, or Ghosts Are Gone would be a better choice), but then again maybe they are looking for that country cross over.
Don't get me wrong, the song is growing on me and have actually caught myself totally into the vibe and feel of the country folk part of it. Yeah, that was my first thought too about the lack of video.
Why on earth is In Your Dreams CD being treated by the label so chaotic and unorganized manner?
But with that said, am TOTALLY HAPPY that the second single got released and now we have tour dates! YAY!!!!!!!!! :)

I don't think any of the alternate choices that you listed are better songs than FWIW ..IYD may have been a better single choice but a better song..no way.Moonlight would need some serious tweaking of the verses to be a single worthy and GAG would not work as a single in this day and age IMO.

I honestly believe this was the best choice they could have possibly made regarding the second single. So glad another one has been put out, hopefully this will bode well for Stevie & Co.
I like this song too. Reminds me of how Dolly Parton plays the guitar with her fingernails, and it has the sweet delivery too.

This is a great song and I hope it does as well as it deserves to.
I think other songs have single potential as well: "In Your Dreams", "Moonlight", "New Orleans", "Italian Summer" and "Everybody Loves You".
I notice that some of us were lamenting about there being no tour....and then we started seeing tour dates. A few were saying there's no 2nd single....and now there is. We might consider not making assumptions as often.

Well, case in point, lots of times, the single that does well is not the "best" song on the CD, but the most catchy. And I still think In Your Dreams would have been a better choice, as a single. However, maybe what DallasDude said is starting to be true. Stevie makes a better pop/country star than a rock star (if radio air play is the only criteria), but still ROCKS my socks off as a rock star when she wants to. But I know, and always accepted that Stevie has that bit of country in her that will never go away.
Hey, as long as she is still singing and making magic, that is all I really care about. I mean who would have thought just 3-4 years ago, Stevie sounded like she was going to hang it up regarding putting out new music. And now we have a new CD, new potential DVD/Movie, and a tour to go along with the new album.
The fact that the Bristow, VA show got announced made my DAY! :blob1::blob1::blob1::blob2::blob2::blob2::nod: The venue is only about a 40 min drive from my house! Last time Stevie was in this area (solo) was 2005 for the Gold Dust Tour.

I feel this song could get Stevie back on the radio. It's easily as radio friendly and good as Lady Antelbellum's big hit last year and could be that big, (presuming it gets out there). Good choice for a single.

Actually, Secret Love really wasn't a dud. It charted in the top 20 on the AC charts, which for an artist of Stevie's age is a pretty big deal.
Also, the album fell from 6 to 87 in 6 weeks, not 2. But it's still not having the legs that it should have.

It feels like the promotion of IYD has been hamstrung by hedging from the start. Too much 'wait and see what it does' before investing in a proper campaign. No doubt Stevie getting sick right on launch day was a fairly big setback, though. And is it likely that concert promoters would look at that and wonder how reliable an act she is, therefore making it take longer to draw up the tour schedule? And all the while, weeks go by, great reviews come in but the record label aren't sure which way to jump?
As for FWIW being the new single, I guess I look at it like if 'Landslide' still gets played to death everywhere, then why not this? Radio can play them back-to-back, like 'then and now'?
I think it's the best song on the album. Not my absolute favourite because it makes me cry every single time, and sometimes I'm too busy to be bothered with emotional armageddon - but bloody hell, what a song that is.

Bingo. I think we are giving WB too much credit for actually having a strategy with this album. The powers that be probably scratched their collective heads and asked the question: "What sounds the most like "Landslide?" Duh.
I think it is a rather bizarre choice for a single. I love the fact that it is quiet and understated. But when was the last time you heard something quiet and understated on hits radio? It would only make sense if they recorded an alternate "single" version of the song in a higher key and with more instrumentation.
On a positive note, if Stevie chooses to perform this on television, at least we know she will be able to do it well.

Exactly. I wouldn't even admit that I was part of the marketing team representing Stevie. Everything about this album and upcoming tour is being handled by amateurs. Even an intern would have better ideas.

This single won't bring in new fans. It's geared towards everyone who has already bought the album. It's not radio friendly and won't increase sales which used to be the reason to release a single.

I agree. But I'm also sick of people blaming Stevie's marketing team. Everytime one of her albums fails its because of the marketing team. The problem isn't the marketing team. The problem is radio.
They want to play a new Stevie song like they want hemorrhoids. They're the ones who have put her out to pasture. Stevie's marketing team did a TV blizz with Stevie that got the album to #6. Now she is no longer doing tv appearances and none of the songs have a presence on radio. Of course the album is going to go down.
TISL did twice as good because of the Dance and because the record sales were twice as much back then. This album is twice or three times better than TISL but Stevie has been releagated to Has-been status. That's radio and Stevie's fault.

FWIW is far from the worst song on the album. We can debate whether or not it is radio friendly or single worthy, but worst song? Thats a B I G stretch. But I'm also of the opinion that IYD has no duds (not including My Heart;)) Yes, IYD has songs that are too esoteric for radio, but still make great album tracks. Reprise may have decided on FWIW as a single because of all the accolades & mentions this song received from critics , as a stand-out track, when IYD was reviewed. I think it's a brave & refreshing choice. What do they have to lose at this point . If and when there is a 3rd radio release, they may be holding onto "Moonlight" till the fall when the next Twilight movie starts getting traction.

What IS super radio friendly of Stevie's, let's be honest? Right now the top 40 radio is dominated by dance/pop and rap/hiphop. That's not Stevie. Of all of Stevie's songs on the album, I think it's the best bet for a single because it's really accesible/relatable, has a timeless sound, and it could also find a place to crossover to country radio. It's not like this type of song is unheard of on radio, either, Plain White T's acousticy songs get played all the time. Like the OP mentioned, Stevie can perform it consistently.

I agree radio won't break this song, but I think it could catch on in a more under-the-radar kind of way. WB should try to get it placed in a movie or two, on a couple TV shows, etc. I could see people finding out about it gradually that way... and then it could cross over to mainstream.

Have to disagree with you on a number of fronts:
"its not going to get any airplay on adult contemporary stations" You don't know that.
"if 'secret love' was a dud" It wasn't. It was a Top 20 hit.
"the albums fall from 6 to 89 in 2 weeks" IYD took 6 weeks to drop to 87
"this is sabotage to the selling of the album" And why would anyone want to sabotage it?
I don't have any idea whether the song will do well or not....we can all only speculate on that. But you have to get your facts straight first (about "Secret Love" and IYD chart performance) before making assertions based on totally erroneous assumptions.

I love "Annabel Lee". I don't hear it at all as a single. Granted, I don't really hear "Moonlight" as a typical single either but in this case the song is just so overwhelmingly great that it could possibly work as a single.
On other hand "In Your Dreams" is definitely catchy and uptempo but it doesn't really stay with you as a song like so many of the other tracks on IYD do.

One of my favorite Stevie tunes of the last 3 CDs. But at this stage, I think she plays better as a pop-country star than a rock star.
I agree with that statement. Yes, Stevie has proved that she can rock in her sixties. However, rock stars at her age tend to walk the edge of parody, attempting to exact the same image and energy they had in their twenties.
Some artists know the art of aging gracefully, and accordingly adjust the nuance of their approach. Country has always been in Stevie's blood, as well as in her music. By leaning more towards that, she can relieve herself of the expectation to act like a youthful rocker - and give up feeling the need to do the high kicks, the spins, etc... She can still rock with country rock!
Even if I didn't leave my girlfriend, those are my thoughts, for what they're worth.

Does anyone know about the nature of her relationship with him? I don't know much about him.

Anyone else think it's odd that Itlalian Summer isn't the 2nd single? It's the middle of June and the time frame is strange. I know they want this to be a single but when are they going to release this—the dead of winter. It's bizarre to me.
I'm thinking end of Aug or Sept. Then if WB is smart, they'd be pulling strings to get Moonlight on Breaking Dawn which comes out in Nov.

She was the Queen of Rock in 1981. There have been many queens, prior to and since then.
Rolling Stone gave her that title in 1981 for their featured interview...i dont think there really is such an actual thing...if one googles "who is the queen of rock and roll" you will get varied opinions...from chrissy hynde to madonna...stevie is in there...this was just an example to make a point

absolutly love the song...but there is no video..its not going to get any airplay on adult contemporary stations....nevermind top 100 pop/rock stations...if "secret love" was a dud...based on what happened with the albums fall from 6 to 89 in 2 weeks...why in gods name would you release a "country" single for an artist who been titled "queen of rock?" this is just sabotage to the selling of this album..this will drop it right out of sight...IYD MAY have captured an under 40 audience....this is NUTS...so..for what it's worth...(punn intended)..i DO love the song and i hope i eat these words
I feel the same way which is why I was hoping for Ghosts Are Gone to be the single. My personal tastes would have loved Moonlight or New Orleans but the queen of rock thing does lend itself to Ghosts more. But this whole thing choice of singles and videos has been a problem with Stevie's team imho since OSOTM.

I think "For What It's Worth" could easily make the playlists of some of XM/Sirius channels.
I'm listening to the Coffee House station and they are currently playing Stevie's version of "Free Fallin'" and thought to myself, For What Its Worth would sound nice on this station. I think I'll send XM an email requesting the song.
It was a nice surprise hearing "Free Fallin'" by Stevie on the radio.
one last note: All The Hits - z100 from NYC is now available on satellite radio so I thought I would give it a listen. First, no way will this "hits" station play any Stevie Nicks, no matter the song. Second, I didn't care for most of the songs played (only listened to it for about an hour - too many commercials, and not enough good songs - I guess I'm just not hip).

It amazes me that they chose the worst song on the album for a single.
Yeah, uhm, we're all entitled to our own opinion but FYI--several critics cited FWIW as a stand-out on IYD--at least in the reviews I read--and I read quite a few.

The nature of radio has changed drastically in the last 20 years. Once upon a time (say the 70's when FM ruled the world)--you could hear almost anything on the average radio station--it wasn't uncommon to hear Rufus (with Chaka Khan), then a song by FM, then a disco number, and then a country crossover hit back-to-back. That began to change when "corporate" radio chains were launched--they decided to pursue "niche" market radio stations with very narrow playlists--which pretty much sucked the soul out of commercial radio, at least for me. It also effectively limited what types of artists get played. While Stevie would seem like a natural fit for classic radio stations, what they typically play are 30 year old songs, not new songs by established artists. You can forget about Top 40 because that's all autotuned crap these days. Country radio isn't going to take a chance on something new either unless it's from their approved list of artists they'll play. That's what Corporate Radio has done to the music biz in general. You can go to any city, turn on the radio station and what you hear is what you could hear in any station in this country--heavily edited playlists and sound-alike stations (Thanks Clear Channel--not!). Very few radio stations these days are independently owned and even those that are often subscribe to pre-edited playlists.
I'm a big fan of XM/Sirius Radio but that's all niche programming too--although some of the channels do play a wide spectrum of artists and new/old material--I've ever heard Frozen Love by Buckingham Nicks on XM in the past! So I'm sure that several stations will play FWIW--but how will that impact sales? Hard to say--satellite radio costs money to subscribe to and requires special equipment--in this economy, attracting a wider subscriber base has been problematic for XM/Sirius which really leaves a small pool of listeners given that XM/Sirius customers are divided up all across their many, many channels.
But I sure hope that FWIW gets some airplay somewhere--it's my favorite song on that entire album--and it's in my Top 10 of Stevie songs ever, at least at this point.

I have been pondering the decision by Reprise to release FWIW as the second single. The only possible reason I can think of may be a strategic gamble due to the lack of interest by most AC and AAA stations to play SL. If they released another AC or AAA-type single, it may get about as much airplay as SL since IYD, Moonlight or Annabele Lee are also very AC or AAA-type tracks. I think they are gambling that country stations are her only real chance at this point and could give her the boost she needs.
If you look at the radio audiences, it's staggering. AC radio's top track gets about 13,000 spins a week, AAA radio's top track gets only about 2,000. Country's top song gets a whopping 36,000 spins.
Radio airplay is key to the albums continued success.

Secret Love did pretty well on radio, but it definitely could have been played more. Many Ledgies here never even heard it in their local radio markets. I heard it a number of times on AC radio here, and I live in the NY metro area, so for me it was a pleasant surprise when the song was played.

Unfortunetly I haven't heard any new material from Stevie here in SW Florida on the radio. In my opinion, IYD's or Anabele Lee would be the most radio friendly songs. Moonlight is my favorite however I wouldn't really expect to hear it on radio due to the arrangement.

FWIW has a nice, safe sound & lyrics that are sad & look at her past. IMO she should release something edgy to get noticed. (The song "In Your Dreams" is really good & sounds radio-friendly, but it sounds way too familiar to wow anybody). I think she should release FWIW to country but also "Wide Sargasso Sea" to other formats. As I've mentioned, neither of these songs has Stevie's best vocals, but somehow they still work.
There are people who love Landslide-y Stevie, & FWIW will please them. There are those who like witchy/Gold Dust Stevie, & "Moonlight" should please them in the fall, I expect. And then there are those who want to hear a good rock song & haven't heard that from Stevie in years - to say nothing of her singing about sex - and people will be pleasantly surprised to hear that from 63-year-old Stevie on WSS, I think.
WSS could work very well if they cut out the 1st several bars (most of the slow part) & start with "Even though they were so in love..." not long before the guitar kicks in.
Start at :38 and it sounds more radio-friendly, I think.

"Moonlight" would be THE perfect October/Fall release. I would also like to see WBR release "Italian Summer" in August even if it's just the video.
And I think your onto something about WSS. If they edited out the beginning acoustic verse and started the song with some creative edits into the 2nd verse "So paradise found was not paradise to him" - I can see this song being single -worthy and not just an incredible album track. Though the title is ambiguous to those unfamiliar with the book or movies (which are obscure enough)
I'm happy that FWIW is the 2nd single. I just hope "they" compile a video, even if it's just for YouTube, from some of the footage from her documentary.

Great news. I think it's the strongest song on the album.
I love the way it was written - in a very Jimmy Webb kind of way.
For What It's Worth will stand right up there next to Dreams and Landslide - easily one of the strongest songs she's written since the Bella Donna/Wild Heart/Mirage years.
And the vocal and harmony is classic Stevie/Fleetwood Mac.
I hope it gets a lot of airplay - she deserves it.

So my take on that is that she is listening to the critics because a bunch of them singled that song out. I think they singled it out because it was heartfealt and very landslidey. It seemed to be the most personal song on the album. I think that there are a lot more catchier songs on the album. If she didn't plan on making a video for it, then I doubt she originally planned to release it. I like the song and wish good luck but wish she would chosen something else.

Very possibly Wide Sargasso Sea. It's obviously about the book as well, but it's a good bet that, as she did with Twilight, she transposed her own story onto this one. Mick is a valid candidate, but Rupert seems the better fit from what we know of their relationship (an Englishman, burned house=Rooms on Fire, "Even though they were so in love, they drew a line in the sand," "After that no words were spoken about the two of them").

I'm thinking that if she's going to insist on adapting her journal entries into songs, there needs to be a rule that she be locked in her room for a set period of time to write an entry with NO interruptions. Guessing she was on a roll describing Italy when Karen pounded on the door & said, Hey, Stevie, it's time for Sulamith's wardrobe fitting, chop-chop! Stevie dropped her pen & dashed out.

All of Warner/Reprise's radio promo discs have the same design template in regard to text design on the disc itself and B&W backtray art. Secret Love's cover insert was unexpected extravagance and they probably used it as an excuse to lay off another three or four dozen employees. Why bother to include a picture of one rock's most distinctive icons and risk attracting attention from all the other discs in the weekly pile. Even Madonna's last bunch of Warner radio promos went uncovered...(topless?).
On a good note, there are two 12" vinyl Rooms on Fire imports for sale that come with the amazing two-sided fold out poster (there's a picture of it in the CD Singles thread.)
