View Full Version : John Oates
My husband & I saw John Oates (solo) live in Wilmington, DE, last Saturday night @ the World Cafe Live @ The Queen. The building has two floors with stages; John was downstairs. Standing up in there maybe holds about 1,000 people, but when we were there they served food & drinks @ tables. It wasn't sold out. John & his band played for almost two hours, a little of everything. He does have a sense of humor. He said, "For you people who came here expecting 80s songs, you'll be sadly disappointed!" Then he sang, "Maneater". He had a warm-up singer name Mutlu come out & play for 1/2 hr. My favorite song from him was a song called Board Games. He was pretty good. John had a guest who he met in Colorado come out, Dave, don't know his last name & sang a few songs. Towards the end John sang quite a few songs from his new CD, Mississippi Mile. John sounded really good & so did his band. It was a very good show.
I didn't take a lot of pics, but my better ones are here:

I was hoping he'd sing, She's Gone, & he did. I recorded it. I've never posted to You Tube, so I may try to do it. If I do, I'll somehow post the link. I'm not that computer literate unfortunately.

Thanks for telling us the details, Lee!! I so appreciate it! In your opinion, were the songs from Mississippi Mile better live than on the CD? The pics look great, too!!!!!
Yes, the songs sounded 100% better live than on the CD. After the show, (which we couldn't hang around for), John autographed his CD for you if you'd buy one. And also Mutlu was there as well. John is a nice guy from what I could gather from his show & from what people say after they meet him, very down to earth.

He does seem like he'd be a very nice person! I haven't been lucky enough to meet him yet. I had the feeling that the Mississippi Mile songs would be better live. I hope he releases a live CD or DVD after the tour is over! Again, thanks for the details!
