A Ledgie here was an intern at Modern back then and said she saw a mock up of Bella Donna right before release, right before "Julia" was taken off the album at the last minute. I don't remember what she said about the cover.

I just did a quick compare and the only thing different I see is the CD lists "Art Direction and Photography: Herbert Worthington" the LP doesn't list that.

I didn't know that Julia was actually slated to be on the album, but pulled at the last minute/ Is that really true? Is that track one of the versions which are floating around among fans?

"Julia" is one of my fav Stevie songs, but its too similar in length and tempo to "Bella Gonna" to go on the album. Anyone know where it fit in the running order?

The Ledgie who interned at Modern hasn't posted the original running order, but maybe she will now! :)
No one I know has heard exactly which of the many, many versions of "Julia" was actually on Bella Donna right up to the very last minute, but it's generally agreed that it was probably "Take 5", of which there exist several mixes which sound very final or close to being final.
In the Summer of 1996, Gordon Perry told me that Iovine just hated "Julia" and took it off of Bella Donna at the last minute because of his dislike for the song, much to Stevie's distress. So, in 1982, Stevie had Gordon produce a new version of "Julia" for The Wild Heart, which was recorded here in Dallas (along with "Wild Heart", "All The Beautiful Worlds", "Destiny" and "Gate And Garden"). Gordon said "Julia" is his favourite Stevie song, followed by "All The Beautiful Worlds", so he was happy to produce them.
Jimmy, however, as Executive Producer of The Wild Heart, had final say on which tracks went on the album, and he axed the new version of "Julia" once again at the last minute. And again, Gordon said, Stevie was not happy.

I think that the photo sessions with the Blue Lamp and the blue version of the Rhiannon outfit with the floppy cap was the original art direction for the cover. I think i may have read that the tracks were different as well, but i don't know what the original track listing could have been (somebody should post that! lol nudge nudge frmr. Modern Intern)

Modern Intern)I love those 'Blue Lamp' photos. Really that should've been the cover and the song BL really should've been on BD. It all fits to me. I wish we could see all those photos from that session (heck all the outtakes from all the solo lp's). LOL I think those BL photos are beautiful. I really love the After The Glitter Fades 45/ps which is from those BL sessions. (I wished that was a poster really). The only thing I recall hearing about BD LP cover was just a photo of Stevie at a microphone which was more or less a face shot really and it just had lettering that said Stevie Nicks Bella Donna at the top of it. I think I read it in one of the old fanzines sometime ago , it is a color photo too. If anyone knows what I'm talking about please post something about it. Sorry I don't recall the fanzine. It could've been Silver Springs in the early 90's but not sure. Some thoughts.:D ps: Nightbird: I see that you have a Charmed photo up there. I only liked Charmed when Shannen was on & played Prue after that I lost interest in it. Oh and I don't recall hearing anything about the different track listings either. Other than what the old fanzines told me in the late 80's and 90's.

Actually, I always thought it was the more profile-y shot and her hand was further down the mic. WAY back in the beginning days of ebay, I saw an LP w/ that shot go for like $100. Always wondered if it was a test pressing. I mean people make fakes all the time, but ebay was so new, market was so scarce, why bother making a fool copy, and also if that were the case I'd have seen atleast ONE by now at a record show or something (right???). ALWAYS wondered.

In 1991, that was the photo (or one like it) on the test pressing LP talked about in the Stevie fanzine, Silver Springs. I totally forgot until I saw that photo above.
Way before eBay...

That picture was published in the Dutch Hitkrant in 1978, why would they've considerd it for the album cover, it makes no sense to use a live photo that is a couple of years old and was published before?

Thanks for whomever posted it. Sorry , theres been other fanzines so I didn't recall which one. Of course the Blue Lamp pics are still my favorite but who knows how many outtakes from BD that were taken that probably would've been beautiful as the LP cover too. Its a shame that we can't see them. Same with all the outtake songs too.:D
