Yes, she looks very normal here and her skin looks natural, not taut, pulled and implanted. For the Discovery Health special, she looked very artificial. They showed us the process she went through and the "after" didn't look that good. But now she looks fine. In the special, as she obsessed over old, younger images of herself, she seemed like she was on the road to being one of those people who was addicted to surgery, but she definitely doesn't have that "almost Joan Rivers" look here.

I knew the question would come up and I wanted to establish that I wasn't going to give that information out before people bothered to ask. Like you, I don't really have anything against Carol Ann, and because of that I'm respecting her privacy while also giving you guys a rare glimpse of her life post-Buckingham.

I have to say, I do get very annoyed when people automatically dismiss her, though. After all, she was there for the real thing and none of us were. Even if she was a bit nuts, she's got far more cred than ANY of us. Something else to keep in mind: EVERYONE in the Fleetwood Mac circle (including the band members themselves) were also completely insane back in the day. I am not saying Carol should be viewed as a holy figure, but I'm just saying that I really don't think she was any less credible or crazier than anyone else in that era. Meaning, Carol's recollections of that era of FM are just as valid to me as Stevie's, for instance.

Couldn't agree more. Carol's bad comments about Stevie and Lindsey are based on her own distaste, much like Stevie says iffy things about others for her own reasons.

I really didn't feel she said bad things about Lindsey so much as Stevie. She basically painted Stevie as a dimwitted airhead. I mean, it's all to be taken with a grain of salt, as you said. But many of the things that were "negative" about Lindsey were her detailing incidences between them (that may or may not have, or may have happened in a slightly different way) that took place. Other than that, she seems to praise his "genius" and raves on about his looks and the moments between them. In the end, there's a bit of a bittersweet conclusion. I don't really think she necessarily shows distaste towards Lindsey, but maybe that's just me. :)

I loved her book and ended up liking her which surprised me. She seemed to have a much warmer personalilty than certain others within the FM bubble. And if she comes over as being self-obsessed - well, weren't they all? And it is her story!

And even if parts of her story (whether little or big parts) aren't true, she did seem to care about, and look after, Lindsey when nobody else was giving a s**t about him - and I hope that part is true because at least he had somebody who gave a damn!

I liked her book also. I think she used an impossible amount of direct quotes and she whined a lot but I do believe some of the things she wrote about Stevie...about her being not so nice and trying to intimitate her and picking on her. I don't believe Stevie was always nice and sweet back then...sure she was an airy fairy hippie chick but I think she knew she could treat people any kind of way she wanted to...because she was Stevie Nicks. She could get back at Lindsey by trying to make his GF feel less than.
Honestly, I like to hear stories about Stevie being mean, or downright spiteful to folks...it helps me relate to her more....cause lord knows I've been caddy to my ex boyfriends new girlfriends just as a way to get back at them....even if I didn't want the at all. :distress:

Well, once you've read it, let us know what you think - it seems to be either a "love it" or "hate it" book. Or rather, perhaps, either a "like CAH" or "dislike CAH" feeling.

It's really hilarious all the way thru' and really rather sweet as well. Some of the tales she tells about Lindsey when he's in a mischievous frame of mind are side-splittingly funny I think.

She said that the people at the club were telling her what a sweet, attentive boyfriend she had -- not realizing that he wanted to strangle her, rather than caress her. So, in public, the conduct was interpreted as loving. Most everything else occurred while she and Lindsey were alone. Although she said she told other people, like Sara.

I think that happened when they were alone, but she told everyone. But we know that Lindsey fell out in the shower. Haven't people in FM talked about that? I think she's quite pretty, and it's good to see her "today" . . . this is a great pic without all that plastered on make up that so many women start using as they get older. (or, in Kenny Rogers' case, "pancaked" on!) :laugh: The years have certainly been very kind to a number of the ladies in Lindsey's past. Her dog looks like some sort of hound--part bassett or a really big beagle maybe? That makes her definitely okay in my book. But it's a great pic, and I'm glad she survived the storm. Thanks Dani.

I recall her eyes as blue. Looks like she just has those kind of eyes with large pupils that tend to make the rest of the eye look darker than it is.

The actual iris of her eyes look like the same color as Lindsey's in this pic.

The newer picture looks exactly like an older version of a girl at the preschool I work at! Its so strange...they are identical! But now you have me questioning if that really is Carol. Seeing those pictures side by side you can definitely see a lot of differences. But surgery could account for that I guess. My book didnt come with a jacket. Anyone have that picture to post?

Yeah their was the car incident that Christine apparently witnessed as well as a nasty scene in their hotel room where she makes it sound like their bodyguard knew what had happened. She wrote a 300 something page book about almost 7 years of her life, so I am sure their are incidents that were left out. The frustrating part is that know one will probably ever come out and say what did/did not happen because they don't want to get in the middle of it. If what Carol said is true and even if every band member saw the abuse take place they aren't going to betray LB like that, especially when they are still working together.

Many people write autobiographies without being self-obsessed. You can write about yourself without thinking you are the center of existence. Self-obsession is not inherent in all memoirs. That varies from writer to writer.

In fact, I don't think CAH was necessarily self-obsessed. She doesn't only talk about herself, even if she seemed to be insecure and trying to present herself in a certain light. You could tell that from the very first pages when she and her sisters were curled up in chairs all studiously reading.

Again, the light you want to present differs, depending on the writer. Some people want to seem strong. Some talented. Some tough. Some brilliant. Some sexy. Some like to make themselves more passive than they really are. The particular image they choose is not a hallmark of all autobiographies -- not everyone tries to present themself as beautiful, helpless or the object of envy. Yes, every autobiography -- every BIOgraphy -- is subjective, but subjectivity has nothing to do with the personality coming through in the book. Not everyone who writes the story of their lives is going to get the same criticism about the telling of that story as CAH did.

I can back Danielle up--it's very definitely her.
Still, I agree with you that it looks nothing like her. Head transplant? I have no idea. Faces tend to thin with age, but this is an extreme case. Other than the face shape, though, the features don't seem absurdly changed--much of it can be chalked up to a professional make-up job and the difference between a deadpan and a smiling face (everyone's lips and eyes narrow with a smile).
Totally altered, but it's very much her and I think she looks great.

I am not saying Carol should be viewed as a holy figure, but I'm just saying that I really don't think she was any less credible or crazier than anyone else in that era. Meaning, Carol's recollections of that era of FM are just as valid to me as Stevie's, for instance.

Well said, and I completely agree. Every band member's recollections are at least a little fuzzy; I wouldn't expect Carol's perceptions to be 100% clear or truthful, but neither are they invalid. Yeah, she might have been pretty crazy in the 80's, but so too were Stevie and Lindsey and I tend to believe the gist of what she said of both:shrug:.
And anyway, I think the reason to read Storms is more for the funny little moments of life with the band than anything else, and those must be true. I wasn't interested in the harlequin romance/tragic heroine aspect, but will be forever grateful to Carol Ann for "Not the granny panties, Chris!"

Yeah their was the car incident that Christine apparently witnessed as well as a nasty scene in their hotel room where she makes it sound like their bodyguard knew what had happened. She wrote a 300 something page book about almost 7 years of her life, so I am sure their are incidents that were left out. The frustrating part is that know one will probably ever come out and say what did/did not happen because they don't want to get in the middle of it. If what Carol said is true and even if every band member saw the abuse take place they aren't going to betray LB like that, especially when they are still working together.

I have to say, CAH had her work cut out for her. No one was going to buy Storms for the story of CAH--the audience for her memoir was way more interested in Stevie and Lindsey, and apt, I suppose, to deem her an egomaniac. I didn't get self-obsession from her, and agree with you on that, at least.

That said, her writing struck me as self-indulgent. She writes about herself as stock heroine, overcoming hardships and discovering her true light!
That's not necessarily vanity, though--I tend to think she's just not very introspective and fell back on certain literary clichés. A stronger writer could have made herself interesting to even a skeptical audience, but I don't think she fleshed out her own character (or Lindsey's or Stevie's) well enough to pull in her reader. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book, believe most of it, and think she's probably a decent person--just not much a writer:shrug:

I agree. Nobody read this book because she is a good writer. They read it for the drama, history and gossip. She's going to try and portray herself in the best light possible, and really, who wouldn't?

I'm sure she would not misrepresent either. I haven't been around here long enough to really know anyone, but I would hope no one would do that. I guess I am just a very skeptical person. Yeah, that award show footage...:lol: Man, poor Lindsey. Stevie was so sweet. And CAH never mentioned a word of any of that in her book. I guess it was overshadowed by what happened a few minutes later. I'm just glad that happened backstage and not while they were receiving the award. :eek:

I think she looks great here and looks very much like her younger pictures! Although she does look like she had surgery. Weird thing is, I think in the picture Dani posted it looks like she has had less surgery than in this video. Which doesn't make sense.

Just thought I'd give other Ledgies a rare and interesting photo of a very interesting member of the Fleetwood Mac world. You can believe me or not, but again, trust me-- it is DEFINITELY her. I would never post a photo like this if I wasn't near-certain.

To me, they look near-identical. She's gotten thinner and it seems her lip injections are gone now, but other than that, it's the same person to me.

The newer picture looks exactly like an older version of a girl at the preschool I work at! Its so strange...they are identical! But now you have me questioning if that really is Carol. Seeing those pictures side by side you can definitely see a lot of differences. But surgery could account for that I guess. My book didnt come with a jacket. Anyone have that picture to post?

Yep. Still don't think it's her. She was super skinny in that video from 2004. Check out her arms in several shots. Stick-skinny. I don't know how much more weight she could have lost. Plus, her forehead is still much bigger in the second shot, her nose is completely different and her teeth are different. Like I said, I'm not trying to change anyone's decision. These are just my observations.

And in the limo Conversations tapes, the band doesn't seem freaked out about how much money they will lose if they have to cancel the shows due to Lindsey's illness. They just say that it would be a miracle if he can make it. Stevie seems wary about anything having to do with spine or back surgery, like she's thinking about possible paralysis -- maybe even a little afraid about the procedure Lindsey has to undergo. Christine asks Mick if she can say that Lindsey has a slight case of epilepsy and Mick says no, she can't. So, Chris was worried about what they were going to tell the press, if they asked, but none of them seemed to be complaining about shows possibly having to be cancelled.

I think Storms was intended to give negative impressions in places and also to absolve Carol in others. For instance, for years before that book came out, the rumor circulated that Christine had come home and found Carol and Dennis together in bed. I think Carol was addresssing that rumor when she said that Dennis lied about having slept with her -- and Lindsey believed her when she said she didn't too. I found that interesting and not particularly credible.

Still, I enjoy some of the small anecdotes immensely. Like when she said that Stevie thought it significant that she and Carol shared the same birthday. Clearly Stevie was implying that Lindsey was attracted to Carol because she possessed some of Stevie's personality traits. Carol deftly pointed out that John Wayne also had the same birthday -- which shut Stevie up entirely. I laughed for 10 minutes straight trying to envision that scene in my head.

top pic- yeah that's the Carol Ann I last remember seeing :eek: Even if you did'nt see the A&E special its obvious she had a facelift.

bottom pic- to me, this woman looks more natural. You would not think she had any plastic surgery.
