Has anyone ever noticed that the album cover bears a striking resemblance the Henri Rousseau's painting, The Snake Charmer?

I believe in CAH's book she mentions that the cover was inspired by a painting Lindsey had in his house...I could be completely wrong about reading it there, but I know I read that somewhere!

Don't have to notice, the Tango CD book says so. the painting is "Homage a Henri Rosseau". Wikipedia details more: The distinctive cover art for the album was a painting by Australian artist Brett-Livingstone Strong which was hanging in Buckingham's home. It is a homage to the 19th Century French painter Henri Rousseau, emulating his colorful jungle theme works such as The Snake Charmer and The Repast of the Lion.
What is not known is how they chose it. Since part of the album was recorded at Lindsey's home, maybe there is a story behind the painting with the band and it's not just Lindsey election:
We then moved production to the studio Lindsey built in the garage of his house, called the Slope, where we would mix and do the overdubs. It wasn't really a proper studio per se; everything was recorded right in the control room. The acoustics were the wooden floor, the bathroom, the carpet, the hallway. Mick Fleetwood.

I think they should have commissioned someone to make the album cover even more faithful to Rousseau - just needs a nude Stevie or Christine playing the flute & wearing a snake around her neck.

While it's an interesting painting, I never liked it for the cover. But hey, at least we didnt get some cover where they all had crazy big 80s hair ;)

Yeah, Lindsey saved his "Eraserhead" look for his OWN album.

While I don't normally comment on anyone's clothing or hair choices, I would have to say that I agree with you and laughed out loud when I read that comment!!
Awesome!
