I wanted to start a thread discussing the new songs Stevie will perform at the Wiltern. Stevie has a tendency to play my least favorite songs from a new album onstage. Naturally, I'm concerned my two favorites from IYD are going to get ignored (IYD and Moonlight). Since Dave is going to be there, I think we are going to get a couple of the stinkers (Cheaper than Free/Everybody Loves You). My question to you is: do you think Sharon meant 5 new songs + Secret Love or was she counting Secret Love?

Here's what I want:

In Your Dreams
Moonlight
For What it's Worth
Italian Summer
Ghosts are Gone
Secret Love

Here's what we'll probably get

Everybody Loves You :distress:
Cheaper than Free :(
Secret Love
In Your Dreams
Annabel Lee

My choices, fresh from just thinking about this:

"Annabel Lee" - Ooh! The part where it's just the singing and the drums!!! Imagine in concert!!!
"You May Be The One"
"Moonlight"
"In Your Dreams"
"Italian Summer"

She played "Alice" in concert in 1989!!! ;)

That's not a fave?

There are a few exceptions! :D

Yes, I'm still bitter about Running Through the Garden being dropped from the SYW set. If either 'Moonlight' or 'In Your Dreams' get played, I'll be happy. Maybe we'll get a taste of a few more tracks at the show tomorrow night?

Me too! I was just watching this on YouTube a couple days ago, and thought it sounded great!

Is she actually doing new songs? I may have missed whatever thread this is on.

Someone here met Sharon Celani and she said that they were going to do 5 new songs. Dave has confirmed that he will be there and that new songs will be played.

Agreed. I would put money on CTF and ELY simply for the fact that Dave's gonna be there. Anything else is a wild card.

I LOVE ELY, mostly because of how Stevie sings the first few verses - totally beautiful. Listen to it through head phones and you'll see what I mean.

Cheaper Than Free... not my fave, but it'll be cute seeing them do it on stage.

I hope Sharon is right though, cuz 5 new songs is awesome!!

Tweet Dave requests. It can't hurt - I did. If anything it will reinforce how much the fans REALLY DO want to hear new songs.

I also tweeted him asking him if any of the string/violinists will be there. I was trying to get clues on what songs they may be doing by asking that but he never replied. Probably caught onto me.

Well, if she's doing 5 new songs, I imagine it would look something like this:

1. Secret Love
2. Everybody Loves You
3. Cheaper Than Free
4. In Your Dreams
5. Annabel Lee

I love "Everybody Loves You" but I am not sure how well it would translate live.

My guess is:
"Secret Love"
"For What It's Worth"
"Cheaper Than Free"
"Ghosts Are Gone" or "You May Be The One"
"In Your Dreams"

Caveat: If the 2nd single is not one of the above, then that will probably be in the set and one of the above out.

Since they were supposed to do six new songs in NYC, it's possible that Sharon isn't counting Secret Love in her 5. It all depends on how much rehearsal they have had while Stevie has been sick.

I'd love to see;

New Orleans
For What It's Worth
In Your Dreams
Moonlight
Annabell Lee
Everybody Loves You
Ghosts Are Gone
You May Be The One

...I didn't realise so many of the songs on this album would be as good as they are. It's a crime she'll only do 5, they should all be done live.

We'll probably get;

Secret Love
In Your Dreams
Annabell Lee
Cheaper Than Free
Everybody Loves You

suprised at all the everybody loves you and cheaper than free votes...those songs both rely pretty strong on a male vocal companion, kinda doubt she'd do them live. I'd be happy with In Your Dreams and Moonlight.

What I Want:

"Secret Love"
"In Your Dreams"
"Moonlight"
"Annabel Lee"
"Everybody Loves You"

What We'll Get:

"Secret Love"
"In Your Dreams"
"Everybody Loves You"
"Ghosts Are Gone"
"Cheaper Than Free"

She has to play one of the real rockers, and "WSS" just seems out of her comfort zone, so I'm guessing "GAG".

I want:
Moonlight
You May be the One
Wide Sargasso Sea
Soldier's Angel
Ghosts are Gone (but ONLY if she dances to it. If she plans to stand there & shake her arms/dress sleeves while the guitar rocks out, I would prefer something else. Stevie, go right ahead & wear the Frankenboks, but just move. )

I think we'll get:
Secret Love
Annabel Lee
Italian Summer
Everybody Loves You
Ghosts are Gone (with flailing arms only)

I don't know if this has been discussed anywhere, but what is the likelihood that Stevie would choose to perform "Moonlight" if her favorite part is the violin? In the past there has been speculation on here that Stevie won't perform "Talk to Me" if it would mean bringing along a sax player for just the one song. To do "Moonlight" in concert, Stevie could bring the violin player for the one song, bring her & add violin to other songs as well (like with the M. symphony), have the band emulate the violin sound without actually having a real one, prerecord just the violin part, or cut out the violin sound completely. My choice would be adding the live violin to a few songs. That having been said, I think she'll just skip "Moonlight" on the grounds that she probably thinks that the album version is already an un-toppable masterpiece like "I Can't Wait" and "Trouble in Shangri-la". Given all the years she put into finishing LFTM, I suspect that she is really proud of the production on the final version.

I think they would probably just use synth strings, or some pre-recorded strings if they were to do "Moonlight" live. Remember that they've been doing "Beauty and the Beast" for years, and just use synth strings.

I hope she will perform more than half the of the album, rather than less half. I'll never understand how you can name an entire tour the name of the album you're promoting, yet include only several songs from the album in the set list.

In my dreams, she would perform a few staple songs, and then perform the whole album.
Elton John did that with his great Captain Fantastic album at huge show at Wembly. At the begining he let people know that he was performing the entire album, and acknowledged that most people won't be familiar with the songs, but essentially "you're gonna like it...or you won't...whatever..." He was confident and believed in the album.

If she does a tour for this album, I would not miss Dreams, Landslide...or any of the songs she's performed into the ground. She could put together an amazing set that doesn't include any of her oft-performed/expected songs, and it would be great. (I can hear the whining from people who feel she always has to do this or that song. No, she doesn't.) A good show is a good show, expectations suspended. Of course this is all conjecture...will it happen? In my dreams!
