My bet is we will see one more fleetwood mac album OR a buckingham/nicks album in two to three years...if it's a buckingham/nicks album then IYD will be her last record...we will not see another solo project...if its a fleetwood mac cd then we will hear rumors of a stevie album much later but it will be a "collection" of some of her major hits and a few new songs or rare/ demo stuff or a few covers...thats my guess

I have a feeling this is her last solo record. She has done everything she can do with this record. Poured her heart out and tried everything to promote it. The one hope is her joy at making the album with Dave Stewart. I think he wants to work with her again and maybe he can get her to do another. I don't think we'll see a Fleetwood Mac album. However, I think there is a good chance for Buckingham/Nicks album. Fleetwood Mac is basically BN anyway.

I totally agree but the funny part is...if she would really like to cement her legacy she should do a Tina Turner move and release another quality solo album like IYD very quickly..but Stevie is too cautious to ever do that!

Well ITD didn't take 7 years, It took less then 1 year. It just took a long time for her to "want" to do an album. Stevie now says shes in the mood to go right back into the studio. I think we will get another album within 2 years, either Fleetwood Mac or Solo.

This album has a decidedly "last album" feel about it, I hate to admit. All of the referencing to past lyrics and albums, not to mention the incredible overall quality. With the reviews being so incredibly glowing, in combination with sales being relatively lackluster, it kinda seems like Stevie would be inclined to let this be her last effort.
Like others have said, I do feel there will be another Mac or Buckingham Nicks album, though. Stevie will want to go out on top with Fleetwood Mac... she won't want to leave Say You Will as the band's swan song. I love the idea of another Buckingham Nicks album, but I don't think Stevie could leave Mick & John out in the cold like that. She knows they rely on her & the Fleetwood Mac name for paychecks.

IF Mick & Lindsey sign off on Dave Stewart producing, Fleetwood Mac will do another album...and for this one, Stevie will bring along Sharon & Lori for the feminine companionship she missed on SYW without Christine.
If Mick & Lindsey balk at Dave producing, I see Stevie doing at least ONE more album with Dave and refusing to do a Fleetwood Mac album without him.
IYD has shown me that Dave Stewart has done for Stevie Nicks what Jeff Lynne did for George Harrison, Tom Petty & The Traveling Wilburys.

I don't understand how people can wish for a BuckinghamNicks album when that's what Fleetwood Mac is right now  Are You guys just against having a great rythym section and brand name attatched to an album of songs written performed by Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Are we opposed to letting Mick and John have jobs

I do think its Stevie's last solo studio album we probably would get another greatests hits package down the road. I do see a maybe new FM album or Definetly Buckingham Nicks album as well. In Your Dreams definetly has a feel of a last album by Stevie.

It's a full circle kinda thing for most fans who are proponents of the idea.
Regarding why I think a Buckingham Nicks album would be neat is a bit more complex, though. They wouldn't be obliged to make a signature Fleetwood Mac sounding album for one. And I wonder how much of Stevie and Lindsey's head butting is because they aren't forced to sit in a room with just two of them and figure out/deal with their musical and personal differences? I think if they were just put in a room without distractions and knew they had to make music together, without any crutches or egos to prove in front of other band members, they just might make some truly incredible music. Or they might murder each other once and for all.

As much as that also has me scratching my head, I think I've figured it out. Those that want a Buckingham Nicks album probably have in their heads that it would be just Lindsey on guitar & vocals; Stevie on vocals & hand percussion. Kind of an Under The Skin vibe with 1/2 the album Stevie songs.
"Fleetwood Mac" is the balls out electric album with the best rhythm section in rock. (since Bill Wyman has retired & left Charlie on his own with the Stones...and the Derek & The Dominos rhythm section: schizophrenic Jim Gordon is behind bars for killing his mother with a hammer & Carl Radle dead from pickling his liver, so they're out...and Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr don't have John & George to play behind anymore...Richie Hayward of Little Feat passed away, Berry Oakley of the Allman Bros died in '71...so those two bands' rhythm sections are out)

Unless she dies soon, she will do another album. She seems to have gotten over her fear of making new music and her touring crutch seems to be fading. I think Stevie will do something with FM next year and then start on another solo album after that. I actually think Stevie will make two more albums. As we all know, Stevie is very into the number three and I see her albums before IYD as being parts of two trilogies. BD, WH, and RAL were the cocaine laden albums during Stevie's prime. TOSOTM, SA, and TISL were Stevie's dark klonopin years falling from grace, hitting rock bottom, and rising back up again. I think IYD starts a new trilogy for Stevie and she will end her solo career with her 9th album, 3 sets of 3. Of course this is just my mystical speculation, but I can definitely see it happening.

I think making this album sparked a lot of creativity. If she is having fun (and not overly concerned about sales so much) she will make more beautiful music.

I say no. People have said "shes done, its over, no more albums" since the other side of the mirror. ESPECIALLY. After she released timespace, then again after she released the box set. People went on and on gloom and doom with "after an artist put out a boxed set that is their "swan song" for sure. And " Oh with every fiber of my being I KNOW that I'm right blah blah blah" they were wrong then and they will be wrong again.

That logic didn't work for the Lakers this year and Phil Jackson getting his fourth "threepeat" (aka "trilogy").
I don't think you can rule out the Enchanted box set, FMac's BTM & SYW from those "trilogies"...those were just as transitional as her solo albums were. She even based her tour set list from a BOX SET...some/most of those songs haven't seen the light of day in a concert set again.
I think as long as Dave Stewart is at the controls of the next Fleetwood Mac album, you'd HAVE to include it as part 2 of the next Stevie Nicks "trilogy". With the process & results of IYD giving her the newfound confidence of recording again, believe me, she's going to be a force to be reckoned with when Fleetwood Mac reconveins...recon...oh, hell with it...when Fleetwood Mac gets back together to record their next album.
LOL!! I think y'all are going to hate me just as much being on the GOOD side of my Stevie Nicks fandom as you did when I was the negative ogre of Stevie Nicks-land. Again, be careful what you wish for! ROFLMFAO!!

She actually may do this. She's said that she loved making this album and was really upset when it was over. Dave has said to Stevie that there are plenty more of her poems to put to music. I've never seen Nicks before imply that she wouldn't tour....this is a first this time around. I've actually thought that maybe Stevie's lack of interest in touring is because she may prefer to go back to recording.

I hope not! I think Dave Stew has done an excellent job on the record... the two of them together have made, I think, her best record in the last 20 years. I still have a randy for TISL of course... but I think if they are judging whether to make another record on SALES we might be disappointed. But Stevie has said on camera that she didnt care about whether this album sold or not... so if she keeps that attitude we may yet get another bewitching group of songs before she 'retires'

Ok, let's get Fleetwood Mac into the studio with Dave Stewart...Stevie can bring Sharon & Lori...and Waddy. Lindsey can drag Neale & Brett into the studio, too. Nothing's going to bring Christine back, so why did I even mention it...oh, just so I could type "Christine" again. ;)
Then, when all the recording's done release a 3 CD set...disc 1: Fleetwood Mac; disc 2: Stevie Nicks "solo" album, disc 3: Lindsey Buckingham "solo" album. Everybody's happy, chiliD can finally retire from message boards into that great message board in the sky and we can all call it a day!

The rest of Mac should go with this. I know Stevie said once "Well, what if Christine's song is a hit from the album but then she's not on tour". I'm thinking "so what"? First, at this stage of the career of Mac they need hits no matter what. Second, just have Lindsey or Stevie sing it in concert. They already do this with "Don't Stop".
Third, a completely reunited Fleetwood Mac would get a lot of press which would help album sales.

Dave has really worked wonders on Stevie's creativity, enthusiasm and attitude towards risk (the last albeit from an incredibly low starting point), but it does worry me a little just how dependent she is on him now. If anything were to happen to sour that relationship, then I just think she would be a bit lost, go back into her shell and fade away?
Furthermore, taking that SN-DS relationship into the SN-LB environment could be hugely volatile, now that SN and LB are supposed to be getting on better, because it wouldn't just be Stevie using DS as a buffer - she could actually end up properly in the middle, trying to keep them both sweet, and failing. I also simply don't believe that LB is creatively receptive. Maybe he's changed, though.
I think one more FM album is 99% certain, for several reasons, all of which have been given by others already. And it's my hope that 'Soldier's Angel' will have convinced LB that he and Stevie do actually sound nice when they sing together, with their natural voices, and give the chipmunks and playing sh*t at the wrong speed a fukcing rest.

I am fine with this being Stevie's last solo album (although I suspect it won't be). It's her masterpiece. Meanwhile, I DO want more Fleetwood Mac albums. I don't even need Buckingham Nicks II (though that would be fine as well) because Fleetwood Mac is/could be essentially Buckingham Nicks+ the greatest rhythm section of all time.

I'ma put money on this:
her next solo cd will be her last. she's gonna tell ONE story, her last story. 13-14 tracks........beginning - end. it deep, loving, scary, funny, scandalous and heartbreaking. she's gonna blow our minds with this one!!!!
there will be no BN album.
IF, and lemme stress IF, there is another MAC album, Stevie will not take great part in it. i think it'll be more of a LB album than MAC. (maybe, just maybe if DS is apart of the next mac CD stevie will have more to say.........maybe).
her last cd will come AFTER the MAC album which means they need to record NOW!

At this point, I'd be a lot happier with remasters of all the solo albums, including 2nd cds with all the demos & outtakes for each album. Then, she can work on her last solo cd. I'm not at all interested in another FM record if it's going to end up sounding anything like SYW, which I expect it will unless they can get Christine back, which obviously isn't going to happen...

maybe this is wishful thinking but I kinda think she'll do another cd. I think she enjoyed this experience way too much to not do it again. As far as Fleetwood Mac goes, I think they're done. Christine's gone and for me, it's just not Fleetwood Mac without her. I honestly can't see a Fleetwood Mac album at this point surpassing anything Lindsey or Stevie could put out on their own.

Hmm....in terms of feeling inspired, Nicks and Buckingham are both definitely in the "let's record more albums" phase. In terms of whether it's economically feasible, that's an open question. I'm guessing that since she largely recorded her album at home that the 52,000 sales of In Your Dreams for the first week are enough that the record company didn't lose money on the album.
Where it might be an issue is whether Nicks can accept albums of hers not going Gold anymore. I mean she's had an incredible track record: 1 multi-platinum, 1 double platinum, 3 platinum, and 3 gold. The only albums she hasn't had go at least Gold are Crystal Visions (which probably will pass Gold this year), Soundstage Sessions (which, being a live album, she probably doesn't expect to go Gold), and now In Your Dreams (which may or may not go Gold, depending on how long her sales keep going). If she's not comfortable with her albums no longer going Gold, she may stop just for that reason.
I do think a new Fleetwood Mac album, even without Christine, would have a good shot of going Gold. But I liked someone's idea of getting Christine back on board to do a final double Fleetwood Mac album.
I'm hopeful that Nicks will join Buckingham in thinking that what's important is getting the music out there. Buckingham has been on an album-releasing tear lately and I'm hoping Nicks starts following suit.
And I hope that Mac decides that its fine for Christine to just record with them.

Have you heard the Tusk album? How bout Rumours?
With the exceptions of Tango In The Night and Behind The Mask, Nicks has been remarkably consistent in turning in really great songs for Fleetwood Mac albums. I'd say her contributions to Fleetwood Mac (white album), Rumours, Tusk, Fleetwood Mac Live ("Fireflies"), and Mirage were all excellent songs.
IMO She came a long ways back with Say You Will from her sub-par (for her) songs on Tango and Mask. It's not quite up to the White Album-Mirage era, but nearly every song she contributed for Say You Will was really good. She was only held back in that she contributed 9 songs....if she'd just contributed the 3 or 4 best like a typical Mac album, it would have been totally on par with the White Album-Mirage era.

Stevie's as much as said that it's not about sales, it's about her craft. That's why she made IYD. Being that she's had so much fun making this record with Dave and has discovered the art of actually co-writing songs with him, I highly doubt that she'll stop making more music now. Whether it's solo or with FM, I believe it's safe to assume that there's a lot more music coming from Stevie.

I think she contributed 9 stellar songs on Say You Will. Whilst I LOVE what she did during the White Album to Tusk phase, which was truly iconic, I still think that her 2003 contributions were more solid, in so much as there was not one track I would care to skip amongst all nine. I cannot say I feel the same way about all the songs she contributed on the aforementioned albums. ( E.g.: Angel, Crystal, I Don't Want To Know.)
Of course it's all subjective, and a matter of taste and personal preference, but even so I do particularly enjoy her Say You Will songs, even if I don't love the production in several cases.

I don't think Fleetwood Mac is done. They keep talking about making a new album once all the hype over IYD and SWS is over.
I don't think Stevie is done. Sure she recycled lyrics, but it's not like she hasn't done that before and she talked about being very depressed once the recording of IYD was over.
I don't think Lindsey is done either. When SWS is released that will make 3 solo CD's in 5 years. I feel pretty positive he will do another one at some point.
This topic upsets me. I don't want to think about any part of this band being done since I just discovered it! But I have a strong feeling they will continue on.

Who the hell said something about Stevie dying?! Haha! She's immortal! Seriously, this thread makes me want to cry as well. They've been very much a part of my life since I was very young. It saddens me to think that the end is, in fact, near. With that being said, I do think Stevie will crank out one more before moving on to children's books (and I'll buy every one) and Mick is too greedy to not attempt to record another Mac album. I think the idea of another BN is out of the question. I think Chris joining is out of the question as well. Stevie and Lindsey both seem to be in fine position to crank out just a little more for us, and for themselves.
I don't want to think about it anymore...

FOR ME?! The end will never be here till the day I die. I will always cherish that music, THAT timeless, immortal music, and relive all the concerts that I've attended over the years. FOR ME...the music will always live on.

Well I'll never be done listening.... Haha!
because Fleetwood Mac is/could be essentially Buckingham Nicks+ the greatest rhythm section of all time.
i don't know, judging by lindsey's new songs Walfredo Reyes Jr seems to be a great influence on lindsey's creativity, and he is one member of LB's band that is not in FM backup band. (he's not, right, Taku is?)

And I hope that Mac decides that its fine for Christine to just record with them.
Lindsey was disappointed that they didn't make another album before the Unleashed tour. Now, there seems to be a question as to whether they will or will not do one before the next tour. If LB actually wants new music, ALL he has to do is get Christine. There would be no need to convince Stevie of anything if Christine is on board. Even if Christine only agrees to do 3 songs, you couldn't keep Stevie away from the recording studio, if Christine is participating. No negotiating with Howard. No quibbling about an outside producer. Stevie would just do it, no questoins asked. To get what he wants, he need only go through the Kent back door.
Add to that the extra publicity and album sales they'd get, if the 5 were reunited, as you mentioned. Everything would fall into place, like taking candy from a baby.

Oh, I think it's possible to get Christine back in the studio. We just can't get her on the road.

I"ll be just happy to get Chritine in the studio again.

Backup percussion was hidden during the Unleashed tour, so it might have been Walfredo.

I hope this isn't the last one. All I can say is that NOBODY knows- hell, Stevie probably doesn't even know. I remember I started a thread MANY years ago asking if we thought Stevie would ever tour again solo, and a majority of people thought "no".

I was thinking today .I was wondering about her contract at WB/Reprise.I was wondering about how many more solo cd's she got to do to meet her contract needs.

Speaking of contracts, I wonder if an artist has one for touring from their record company? I mean do sometimes a record company make an artist tour under contract? I should know this...

I hate to say it because I want, no, NEED more solo Stevie, but I think this is her last solo album. Which is fine only because she, IMO, hit a home run.
The ONLY way I want another Mac album is if they do it as a team effort. I don't want another Lindsey CD and another Stevie CD thrown into one collection. I want a work that is fully fleshed out as a band. I liked parts of SYW, but as a whole it doesn't all mesh together like their classic albums did. But I DO think we will have 1 more Mac Album,
I think B/N is done with. Those two play nice in interviews, but I still get the feeling that that relationship is still more toxic than it is friendly. Lindsey and Stevie just getting together to make an album will never happen. We MAY get a B/N reissue however, IF the MAC album is good.

Yessir. Used to, it was pretty much unheard of that a label would contract an artist to tour, but that was back in the day when artists made 2/3 of their revenue from album sales. They now make 2/3 of their revenue from concerts and merchandise, so record companies have created the "360 degree" contracts which sign the artists for an album, merch, and a tour! However, not all artists agree to these, so I don't know if Stevie has one or not.

I don't even understand why this is a question people are wondering. Stevie's said herself a few times the last little while that making this album sparked something in her and she wants to get back into studio and make another one....... And she seemed very genuine when saying that as well.
So........... to me, this thread seems redundant.
If, in five years, we still haven't seen anything - THEN we can start this thread up...

I don't know if it will be her last or not. But I'm not really going to consentrate on that, I am just going to be grateful for and enjoy this one.

How can you emphatically say no? Anything is possible! I'm sure we will get at least some more compilation albums; hopefully with previously unreleased songs, as well as remixes. When the production train does stop for good, all of her albums will be re-released with bonus tracks.

I strongly suspect we'll get another Fleetwood Mac album, but can't even begin to guess beyond that. I wouldn't expect the album until 2014 since Lindsey (and Stevie?) are touring into the fall and everyone will want to do this album right. Factoring in the year of touring, that would mean at least 4 years before Stevie could begin to think about her solo career. We have no idea what will happen in those years--maybe her back problems will worsen and she'll just be done with touring, or maybe she'll give up smoking (I'm convinced she often indulges in both) and have renewed physical and vocal energy. Maybe Fleetwood Mac will sap her creative impulses, maybe it will restore them.
Regarding BN, I honestly can't imagine they would ever go down that road. I can see them re-releasing the original album, but can't think of a reason they would record more material or tour together without Mick and John. Creatively, both are probably more fulfilled by their solo careers so their motivations for FM or BN would have to be financial or social and FM would be the more appealing group in both aspects.
I don't think Stevie and Lindsey love touring together; they can come to "an amazing peace" over a day of recording, but they've spent enough time together to know that a year holds the promise of tension at the least. Mick and John act as buffers (Mick, in particular, is perceived by both as an ally). And consider the financial implications: with Fleetwood Mac they can sell more albums and fill arenas. Lindsey has a young family to consider and Stevie loves to be a big rockstar--BN would probably play venues similar to the ones she's having to consider for IYD.
The only thing BN has going for it is Lindsey's faith in cycles, but I don't think that will be enough.

I was wondering if Stevie should take another direction,Like record a classical standards cd like Linda Ronstadt and Rod Stewart did.A country cd like Kid Rock ,Sheryl Crow,Jewel and alot of other pop rock artist did.I hate to say this .A rap.hip hop cd.She can afford to experiment now.

Except that one of the main draws of Nicks is her songwriting, so an album entirely of covers is going to be lacking to many of her fans.
