I was looking around the used DVD store in my area the other day, and I picked up a copy of the old Sophia Loren movie Arabesque. Then it made me remember seeing the title "Arabesque" on a list of unreleased Stevie Nicks songs. It made me start wondering how many outtakes or demos are out there that have never circulated, and have never been heard by any of us. I started to make up a list....and was wondering what others people have heard of....

Arabesque
Butterflies
Smitten -- written by Macy Gray and given to Stevie, but did Stevie ever record it?
When it All Falls Apart -- written by Courtney Love for Stevie, but did she ever record it?

I know there must be tons more....would love to see a complete list!

There is this Shadow of My Shadow song that was recorded for IYD. Then there are some others I will have to look up later, but I know one is called "For John".

Does anyone know what songs she recorded with Dallas Austin & Rodney Jerkins back when TISL was still in the early stages?

Say what?! I don't remeber hearing that she worked with them! I'd love to hear those songs

I remember Stevie saying she had heard TLC's "Unpretty" and said she liked the vibe of the song and wanted to work with Dallas Austin because of it. I'm not sure what became of those sessions, or if anything ever surfaced.

There has been speculation over the years that the outtakes of Bombay Sapphires we have are actually Dallas Austin produced. They definitely have a common sound with TLC's FanMail album and Madonna's Bedtime Stories album, both of which Dallas was involved with:

It really is fantastic, isn't it? I especially love the extra verse:

"But that's my dream... so it seems... to still see dreams, where there are none"

That's such a Stevie sentiment, and reminds me why I love this woman.

I remember back in the RAL days four songs were mentioned in an article:

Will The Nightmare End (perhaps an early title for Nightmare)
A Moment of Time
Delta
The Best of Times (supposed another Chas Sanford composition)

I know I'm not crazy but I distinctly remember these songs mentions months before RAL was released...the article also mentions "Talk to Me", "Strangers (probably Some Become Strangers" and "If I Were You". I also remember the article saying "Talk To Me" was being tauted as the possible first single.

I much prefer the TISL version, it' a top 10 Stevie song for me. The whole "I can take you higher" should have been part of the chorus just as it is on the album.

I did not know that she originally gave this song to stevie. Rod Stewart actually recorded it and it is on his Human record. It's one of the better songs from that album. I can hear stevie singing it.

 If Just Like Jesse James is the Cher recorded version written by Diane Warren and Desmond Child, I would DIE to hear it! JLJJ is my fav Cher song. Idk why. I'm strange like that.

The fact that Stevie wrote a song titled 'Chiffon' gave me the giggles, I won't lie. :)

I'm reading all these titles and trying to think of how they might sound/what they are about - kind of weird.

Baby Don't Lose Heart (or a similar title) was mentioned in an news article many years ago. I recall it was a Bruce Springsteen song that was presented to Stevie. I believe that Bruce eventually released his demo/outake version on a rarities box set several years ago.

It seems that over the years, Stevie received many songs from famous artists who wanted her to record their work. Yet, she rarely did.

Yes, wasn't the story that the song was called 'Janey, Don't Lose Heart' but that Stevie changed 'Janey' to 'Baby' and Bruce didn't care for that, so asked for all the tapes to be handed over?

It's not the same song. In January 1995, Stevie's then-manager told me about the upcoming rarities collection for Stevie, and "Just Like Jesse James" was one of the titles he told me. I asked if it was the Cher hit, and he said, "No" and that it was a song Stevie wrote and recorded in the Early Nineties. (OF course, this rarites collection was never released).

FYI, other songs he mentioned on the disc would have been:

Violet And Blue
Sleeping Angel
Running Through The Garden
Blue Lamp
Just Like Jesse James
Gold
Love Don't Fail Me Now
Playing In God's Garden
... plus a few more he didn't list.

Other never heard songs:

"What Would You Do?" - Written by Stevie in 1999.

"Song For An American Prince" - Written by Stevie in 1999 after JFK, Jr.'s tragic death.

"You Like Me" - Stevie's version..... ;)

"Poor Me" - Liza Jane told me in 2005 that Stevie definitely recorded a version of the song the two wrote together in December 1990 after the final Behind the Mask concert.

By strange Stevie coincidence, this afternoon I had the TV on The Real Housewives Of Atlanta, a show I've never seen before. The episode was originally aired on November 4, 2008. One of the housewives was going to record a song in Atlanta with Dallas Austin producing.

Dallas was showing her around his studio and told her:

"Everybody's sung in here: Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Stevie Nicks."

(I LOVE hearing people say her name!!!)

If only we knew for sure what songs Stevie recorded with him and what they sound like!!!!!

Thanks for the info! I can rest my mind over it. Too bad that project never came to fruition.
