Stevie is feeling better and she will performing on Ellen today is being filmed and will air tommorow, according to her bass player Al Ortiz FB page he posted that they were doing the ellen show today to be aired tommorow so excited set your tivo,dvd recorders tommorow watch Ellen. So excited not sure what song Stevie will perform. Any new song fromt the album will be awesome, I hope she does New Orleans,Ghosts Are Gone or In Your Dreams but any from the album is awesome lovin it and so glad she is feeling better. I hope tour announcements will be coming soon.

Heres hoping Stevie performs a more rockin' and potential attention grabbing song other than SL. I'd really love it if she performed 2 song selections from IYD. Moonlight or Annabel Lee seem like the obvious choices, but a slow burning edited version of You May Be The One would be incredible too - she'd be wise to add the latter song to her tour repertoire from here on out.

love that song too Annabel Lee I truely love the whole album but I really do love everything Stevie does so I am probably not her best critic, But In Your Dreams flows so nice and has a wonderful feeling love the theme the gothic Stevie feel of the ghosts,Vampires and Victoria Era just love it. This album is truely for The Die Hard Stevie fans and Stevie herself and I love,love,love this cd as all of her cds.

Yeah, i really don't it get either! She's toured with no new work behind her, pretty much just for the hell of it and now she has probably the best album she's ever done and she's questioning if she should go on the road or not ? I don't get it ! I not mad at her ( i guess she has her reasons ) but for the life of me, i can't figure it out ! :confused:

Conversely, isn't the whole purpose for making appearances on shows is to promote the album, and thus, increase sales???

She's got a couple of casino show dates scheduled during the next week :).

I was shocked to learn that there were no dates planned (as of right now) beyond May 2011. I was told "if the album explodes" when released they would look at more dates this summer, possibly in July. They have Australia in Nov and nothing beyond May. I don't think 20K in sales the first week constitutes "exploding" on the charts. I am very disappointed at this point she isn't going out to tour. That could change of course, but I wonder if the sluggish sales in certain markets for Rod Stewart has scared them off.

Surprisingly, she sounded a touch better singing Secret Love on ellen than on oprah, but she indeed sounded ill to me when she was talking to ellen after the song.

My theory is that she's been sick since the end of the Rod tour and been trying to tough it out.

Wadddy might want to tweak the arrangement of the song a bit more if they're doing more live tv. It plods a bit...however, that could be for her limited breath right now.

I thought she did a great job, considering she's sick. And it was a nice interview on stage that she had with Ellen. Ellen came out with mask sort of thing and praised Stevie for singing with pneumonia....She mentioned that Stevie has gotten unanimous reviewsof her CD and they gave one to everyone in the audience. it was great!

I think it probably wasn't real pneumonia if she's performing already, but I have no doubt she was very sick and is still recovering. She's really excited about this album and wouldn't have canceled promo unless she absolutely had to.
The Stevie camp probably just wanted an excuse that fans wouldn't complain about, and I really can't blame them. They might have gotten criticism if she canceled for a cold, for example, even though a cold can basically incapacitate a performer.

I agree, but she did not sound good at all in my opinion. I am really glad Ellen commented on how she was still sick, because the point of appearing on shows like this is to sell records and that performance is not strong enough to boost sales in my opinion! She did LOOK good though!

It really wasn't anything to get excited about, except for the red dress cuz that's my favorite color on her & she wears it sooooo rarely. She sounded off, cuz of the pneumonia, which is understandable, but this makes the 2nd time she's performed Secret Love live & I'm liking it less each time. Something just sounds horribly missing & off with the instrumental arrangement of this song when it's performed live. I really hope she doesn't add this to the set list for upcoming concerts. While the album version is tolerable, the live version just falls flat on every level, IMO.

Maybe US network TV, but Stevie wore RED on Top Of The Pops in May 1989 performing "Rooms On Fire".

Yeah, I forgot about that one. But I don't really care for anything other than the red outfit on Top of the Pops cuz she was lip-syncing to the album track rather than performing live & I just HATE that. The only other time I remember her lip-syncing was for the Japanese BTM video for Freedom & the German TV Silver Springs. Both of which are terribly off as well. She sings songs differently every time, so for her to try & lip sync, it's always a disaster because she moves her mouth the way she would if she were singing it live & it never matches up.

I enjoyed it and I think she made up for her singing by trying to make it more visual with all the hand movements. But you could kind of tell she had something going on and I glad they mentioned she was sick that "regular" people wouldn't think that she sucked. She looked great and you could tell she was very happy to be there and to hopefully re-kick off some more promotion.

Not afraid to be brutally honest and I'm tired and cranky today so here goes:

Loved the dress and the matching BOOTS! However, not thrilled with the matching "arm tights" on her forearms. And I'm sorry, but whenever I see those metallic gloves, I only think of oyster-shucking. :rolleyes:

The mix was definitely off - the drums were too loud and tinny sounding. The Fall From Grace/Stop In the Name of Love hand gesture seemed out of place to me. for Secret Love.

Just saw it... I think she sounded great! The music sounded way better on Ellen than Oprah... Stevie's voice seemed fine to me.. Even her speaking voice didn't seem off from what it normally is... Maybe it did slightly, but she handled the song just fine.

As for the long sleeves and hand gloves... Personally I think she's just hiding wrinkly skin.... That or she likes to be cozy, those clothes are probably light as a feather so there's probably not much warmth with them...

Thank you for posting this. Wow, I am reading some pretty harsh statements on the performance today. Even though you could tell Stevie still was congested, she sang her heart out and she was having fun. She looked more at ease and in a great mood more than the performance on the Oprah show. And Damn, she looks really good from recovering from a recent flu/pneumonia. Damn, when I am that sick, my nose gets red and dry an cracked.. well let's not go there... but you know what I mean. redness under the nose from blowing it so much, etc.... She could have canceled but didn't. She is a trooper to do this today and to have it on TV, not just perform. So, you know how a camera can not be kind if one is sick. So kudos to Stevie and the band for doing a great job.

Nope. Secret Love does not translate live particularly well. Not to mention I'm still sad at how bad she sounded last time she was on Ellen when she wasn't sick. So I skipped the show and power walked to IYD today instead. :thumbsup:

I wasn't crazy about Secret Love because of the demo. And, when I first heard the recorded track--it took awhile to grow on me. But, I like it live.

And, whatever anyone wants to say about Stevie--she showed a lot of gumption performing on Ellen. She has a raspy quality to her voice anyway, so...it was a bit raspier. But, crap. Watch most of these younger, auto-tuned to death, top 10 performers nowadays when they do live television. They can barely hold a note (and sometimes don't). This woman had/has pneumonia and did just fine (well, maybe the hula moves need to go...but, other than that...she did just fine).

She looked great, was charming, is trying to do for gloves what she did for Victorian dresses (heehee) and I'm proud of her. Now, I hope she rests up for those upcoming concerts and gets better and stronger every day.

She's going to ride out "Secret Love" live, as well she should.

In a live, national televised setting, this is the first time she has performed the song. Oprah did not count because that was not broadcast, that performance could only be seen on the website, so really, Ellen is where she debuted the single live, as she did with "Every Day" on Rosie 10 years ago.

I am hoping for AI she changes it up, but she performs the song well vocally and is rehearsed so let her do her thing.

It's Reprises fault, not Stevie's, that a second single hasn't been released yet. Since there are more videos to come I see that happening by the time she goes on Idol. As much as we complain about WBR/Reprise, their timing with things this time around has been pretty spot on. Like when they released "Secret Love" the day Stevie was on Ellen in January. Stevie was ready to perform the song, but Ellen personally requested that Stevie perform "Stand Back". If she had performed "Secret Love" on her show in January, then she would have performed something else today.

I have just finished watching Stevie perform Secret Love on Ellen here in Aust, so cool to see her on TV, she looked thin & beautiful as always i loved her hair & burgundy dress, she sounded really good considering she's still getting over her illness.. Great to see her back in business promoting her CD, I'm hoping she will switch it up & sing Moonlight on her next TV appearance.. that song is awesome & would definitely rope in some new fans & albums sales..:thumbsup:

Poor Stevie...it's heartbreaking that she is sick at such a highlighted time in her career...you can tell she is just as crushed about all of the missed opportunities for this album because of getting sick and put every ounce of energy she had into this performance. I actually thought this performance was very good and loved seeing her sense of humor come out with Ellen ! Crossing my fingers everyday she reschedules the east coast dates SOON! :)

Thanks for posting that CADreaming. I had not seen it, so greatly appreciated. I thought she sounded good, although not up to par to the Oprah show (I seem to differ in that respect to many others, I thought Oprah she sounded and looked great!), but you can definitely tell that she is ill.

For being ill, and still recording this show, she did great in that sense. When I'm ill, I'm a baby, home in bed. :)

Thanks so much for posting. I have to say I also give her alot of credit for performing because she clearly was still sick. I have doubts that she could do an entire show. It just might set her back. That happened back in 2001 on the TISL tour, and she was ten years younger then.
We expect perfection from her, she is just human after all. I know alot of people on this board were disappointed when she cancelled in NY, but I truly believe that she dosent cancel shows lightly. Stevie showed what a gracious person she is on this brief clip. I dont feel she owes me anything because I am a fan.
In fact, even if she dosent tour behind this new CD, it would be a shame, but I can play this music all I want. And that's a gift that dosent fade away.

I know, from experience how taxing pneumonia can be, and I must say, Stevie was a real trouper for pulling through. She is visibly feeling weak at the end of the performance, yet she pulled it off with true Stevie class! Another reason to love this woman!

She probably wanted to perform the new songs at the concerts she had to cancel before doing them for the first time on TV. I do agree they need to get a new single out soon. Poor Stevie...it's heartbreaking that she is sick at such a highlighted time in her career...you can tell she is just as crushed about all of the missed opportunities for this album because of getting sick and put every ounce of energy she had into this performance. I actually thought this performance was very good and loved seeing her sense of humor come out with Ellen ! Crossing my fingers everyday she reschedules the east coast dates SOON! :)

Three cheers from me for every word of this, my friend! I can't believe people are still being bitchy and cynical about whether she's ill or what she has/had. Just look up 'pneumonia' and you'll see that it's a formal diagnosis that covers a very wide range of debilitation.

I feel dead sorry for everyone who's got major plans and money outlaid for concerts that are still up in the air, though.

So I have watched it about 15 times now & even tho she might not sound as good as when she's not battling pneumonia, this is still probably my favorite performance in 10 years for the red dress alone. I know it's just a copy of the black one she wears so much lately, but red is my favorite color on her & I think she should wear it more often. And even some white & blue too. The black is just boring anymore.

I hated having to wait so long to see her. Almost the whole hour with J-Lo. But with Stevie being under the weather, she may not have wanted a sit down interview. I loved the red dress and I thought she sounded great. I could tell she wasn't 100% but anyone that didn't know she had been ill probably couldn't tell. I'm not crazy about the arm gestures. It's too much. I'd rather she just hold on to the mic stand. I loved the little interview. Stevie was so sweet. And gracious. Thanking Ellen and Rod for letting her promote her music. They were probably thrilled to have her.

I think maybe what Stevie's trying to do with all the hand movements is to get the fans to mimick her when she's on stage, like they did during Say You Will. Remember those movements? lol I used to try doing them while driving if the song came on. Those movements were more fun than what she's doing now though.
Stevie looked amazing on Ellen. She obviously is still under the weather and I just hope she's not going to push herself too soon. Pneumonia takes alot out of a person.She didn't hold any long notes most likely because she still can't fill her lungs with alot of air yet without coughing. I can't imagine her doing a whole concert for a while.

OH thanks so much for posting this! I had to work yesterday. I think she looks and sounds great and so humble and grateful but Ellen should be thanking her for gracing her stage. I do think Ellen couldn't stop saying "I love you" as she should have. I gotta say, that flu/pneumonia went around this year and it is bad...it was a combo of sinusitis, bronchitis and ear infection...the 5-day antibiotic ...some of us weren't 100% for a few weeks, ugh. She'll be strong again for her touring, I'm sure!

Maybe, but I also think Stevie's nervous about presenting new material--she is afraid no one will know what she is singing/saying and wants to get the words across. (she said she doesn't like to dump a whole lot of new songs on her fans at a show, and doesn't want to present anything NEW or classic on TV, either). It's kind of like "stevie signing."

Personally, I don't think she really has the pipes to sing this song live.

Oh she does... it's not that high, only goes up to the fourth F sharp on the piano. She sings the A above that tons of times in every show. She might have some trouble with the low note in the verse, "and soft yellow" cause it's the second B on a piano and most females can't even come close to that, but it's such a short note that it wouldn't make a difference. The climactic F sharp, wouldn't expect her to hold it for 13 seconds like in the studio version but she could do at least a good 6-7 seconds easily, especially since there's a pause right before it.

The biggest give away to a persons real age is their hands. You cannot get wrinkles, age spots etc removed from your hands and at 62 Stevie must have some of these, it would be impossible for her not to. Easiest way is to cover up with gloves :shrug:

Contrary to popular belief, there is no evidence that carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by repeated use and motions of the hand. Also, surgery is quite successful in relieving CTS.

She has lovely hands, last time I checked...and she HAS been gloveless in the past year or so. And, contrary to popular belief, age spots are not a given at 60-something. My aunt is 77 and there isn't a mark or wrinkle on her hands and she doesn't have manicurists at her beck and call, as I'm sure Stevie does (not to mention, pesky household chore exemptions).

Maybe...just maybe...Stevie likes them. I like them. The first time she showed up with suckers similar to the ones she's wearing now (Jones Beach, SYW tour, I believe)...I immediately looked them up on the net the day after--to see if I could buy them. It's a total throwback to the 80s but ce la vie.

How could I have missed this( hangs head in Stevie shame). I have recorded about everything Stevie or FM since 1983. Well, I may try plan B. I will try to get this off of YouTube via Wii through audio-video plugs to a Sony DVD Direct burner to put with other Stevie performances this year.

Plan B worked. I burnt it on DVD. The quality isn't all that good , but it is forever. I also burnt Stevie's prior appearance on Ellen, her appearance on Oprah including 'Secret Love', Glee Rumours, Landslide off of Glee and parts of her interviews at the Glee taping. It filled out a 2 hour DVD. And then I deleted what I burnt off the DVR so I will be ready for the next round of Stevie.

It sounded better than the Oprah performance, which I thought was lacking life and vibrancy.

The Ellen version still sounded off (not as good as the audience bootlegs that have popped up on YouTube), but not as dull as the Oprah version.
