I think he is working on the next single. Here is twitter message.
@WeaponsofME
Weapons of ME
walked by edit room and saw @DaveStewart working on a video for track #...(hint: it's somewhere between 5 and ten) #inyourdreams
It could be for the movie, but the way this guy says it, tells me he is giving us the hint to the next single. I sorta hope not. I think In Your Dreams should be the next single.

Moonlight is my favorite song on the album, but I bet it's Annabelle Lee because of the Rolling Stone review.

It's either Annabel Lee or Everybody Loves You; both of those songs seem to be the ones with the most single potential. I'm sorta hoping Annabel Lee, it's just so Stevie!

Moonlight and Everybody Loves are like my two favorites and I just know they will never be singles. However, I will say this. Moonlight got a bunch of downloads from iTunes yesterday. It charted.

Wait I don't get it - the sizzle reel clips for Moonlight, Annabel Lee, Wide Sargasso Sea, Italian Summer... surely they're parts of longer, full videos? Why would they go the trouble/expense of making just those tiny clips for the trailer?

I'm hoping that it is Annabel Lee..it certainly has all the elements of a classic single..if not that then it'll probably be Everybody Loves You..Moonlight is great but too oddly structed to be a single IMO.Even though it is not even quite in my top 5 favorites I have to agree with those that think In Your Dreams should be the next single..it's just so concise and catchy.

He's making a movie, but I think the video's for outside release, such as Secret Love are getting extra attention. And actually, I know 4 videos were made a while back because of twitter, but if some songs get edited down for radio, the videos are going to have to be re-edited.

I'm kind of baffled that they aren't going with "In Your Dreams" too. It's not among my favorite tracks on the album but you can just hear the single potential.
I try to imagine how well a song might go over on the radio. I *love* "Moonlight", I do think its the best track on the album and a classic Nicks song already. It does have a basic understandable structure of verse-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-coda. I think the opening piano verses are potentially too "soft" for radio, maybe.
When I listen to the album and try to set aside my own personal favorites and just listen for what "sounds like a single" I come up with "In Your Dreams", "New Orleans" and "Everybody Loves You".

I don't know that I agree that In Your Dreams is the obvious choice. It all depends on the format of the station considering it for airplay. It would be great on the classic rock formats that give airtime to new material by legacy artists, but that won't necessarily reach new listeners or spur sales, which is what a single is supposed to do.
I'd go with Everybody Loves You - it's modern, and yet easily accessible for almost any radio format. It's got a catchy hook and the eastern beat is funky enough to be intriguing to the listener unfamiliar with Stevie Nicks.

Good points. A few people have panned "Everybody Loves You" because they don't seem to like the electronic aspects of it, but frankly I consider that Nicksian purism. The song still sounds like Stevie Nicks; it works for her.

For sure. A radio remix that adds a beat to the verses would certainly help, but the marketing potential for that song is out of this world.

Reprise's Luke Burland says the label is leaning in favor of "Annabel Lee" with "Moonlight" following. During the four-day shoot in January, more time, effort and budget was directed at these two songs - as well as Secret Love - than the other songs that have received some kind of video treatment. The production designer Robert DeV was most concerned with Moonlight's needs, which is represented in the other 10 pages of call sheets I didn't post with the initial batch.

They HAVE to release this as a single! Maybe the 3rd asingle to coincide with a later tour? For now I think Moonlight would work as a single. I seem to be alone in thinking that, as much I like it, Everybody Loves You wouldn't be a great choice of single.

I agree that IYD should be the next single. Not only is the production catchy & radio-friendly, but her vocal is surprisingly good; it's one of those songs like "Talk to Me" that only a few people can sing without it sounding bland and off.
"Moonlight" has a great hook & vocal, but I thought the same thing about "Sorcerer", & it went nowhere on radio. But this is one of the singles I'd want if I could choose.
I really, really do not want AL as a single. Dave's production is great, but I think it's far & away her weakest vocal on the album. Also, I'd prefer that the general public get to hear Stevie's own lyrics. I just don't get how it's a big selling point that AL sounds like a Mac song; it's not like recent FM singles have done great on the charts. I'd rather she gambled & put a different sound out there - even YMBTO is different enough for my tastes, when compared to anything else the public has ever heard from her. I also wouldn't mind FWIW.
Also, I can see people getting tired of the keyboard in the ELY chorus pretty quickly.

I too am baffled by the side-stepping of "In Your Dreams", even though I do think "Annabel Lee" and "Moonlight" are the best songs on the album.
"Moonlight" might make it on radio just because of how good it is and because of the Twilight connection.
"Annabel Lee" probably would have been a sizable hit back in the Mac glory days but I'm struggling to see how it will fare on radio now, even though it's a wonderful song.
As I've said before "In Your Dreams", "New Orleans" and "Everybody Loves You" all already sound like singles to me.

I agree... but I just mean that the chorus brings the song down, rather than just not being the best part. I often prefer the verses (or the bridges, etc) to the choruses in Stevie's song, as is the case here. However in this song, I rather wish that somehow the SENTIMENT of the chorus and those words could be kept in the song, while the chorus be taken out (or, perhaps, changed melodically and with tighter harmonies etc)..

I'm starting to think WB just WANTS Stevie's modern albums to fail. Moonlight is beautiful, but that piano intro sounds like something a 4 year old would do, and it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R for the song to get going. People would flip the station so fast if that song came on. Annabel Lee has better tempo and pacing going for it, but I just wonder if the fairytale nature of the lyrics would turn off most listeners?
They badly need to release an uptempo song with more grounded lyrics. Ala the title track. My Heart would even be a strong choice. Unfortunately the song didn't make most released copies of IYD. You May Be The One might even be a good choice.

"Moonlight" works better as a single if it starts with the second verse: "She's lonely, lost, she's disconnected..." Obviously this also works to make the song almost a minute shorter, which helps in terms of radio.

I live in the NY Metro area, and the big adult contemporary radio station here just picked up Secret Love. In fact, the first time I heard them play it (Tuesday as a matter of fact), just as the song ended and the host came on air to talk about the previous set, and he talked a good 2 minutes about the song, Stevie's new album, and the fact that she's had to cancel her NY appearances due to being sick, but he said that they just LOVE her new single. I was pleased
As far as the next single, I too think the title track screams "single". Like Secret Love, it's the perfect length for radio, and it's a track that juxtaposes the previous single in tempo and mood, so people who hear both songs won't think her new album is full of ballads.

Yeah it just doesn't make any sense if the title track isn't even on the table.Stevie has long said that she is not a hit single wrtiter and she only writes them by accident .In Your Dreams sounds like the biggest accident she 's had in a very long time.Like others have said 25 year ago it would have been a pop top ten effortlessly.

Usually I can respect your opinion even if I do not agree. Most times you present a valid case. THIS sounds like a spoiled child LASHING OUT because he didn’t get something he wanted. I understand that It is your opinion and that everyone is entitled to their own, but the way that opinions are PRESENTED can be the difference in stating and discussing your opinion, and sounding just plain RUDE and INSULTING. i.e. "sounds like a four year old" piano takes "F-O-R-E-V-E-R" bold and drawn out ect. I am glad that you never want to meet stevie, id fear that these things would be said.:distress::distress::distress:
Once the album was available to all of us via the rolling stone stream, about 90% of the posts here were saying they loved Moonlight. PLUS people were posting that IT was the song that was getting downloaded MOST on Itunes. It has a minor tie-in to a MAJOR franchise. Everyone involved with the album (apparently ) did alot for the video to be special as well. AND Stevie herself loves the song. She keeps saying how shes been singing it to herself at various times. I agree with darklinensuit that there could be a "radio edit" for this that could work really well as a single.
ALSO, the whole "more grounded" lyrics becase "fairy tale lyrics" might turn people off. Please. This is not back in the day. Stevie has always had a "magical" image. I say she fully embrace the (fairy princess goddess people would like to think of her as.) the lord of the rings movies were ALL over the last decade. and still, theres Harry potter, Twilight, True Blood, THe Hobbit is coming . Fantasy is in. the time just seems right right now.

But maybe the single version is edited with a shorter intro.
At the Hollywood Bowl show, someone in front of me got up to leave during the Rhiannon piano intro and I so wanted to butt in and tell them what song it was. I kept quiet though and when they heard the familiar Rhiannon riff they ran up the aisle back to their seat. The intro definitely threw them off about not only what song it was, but what kind it was going to be.

I was thinking about this song and when the album dropped it was one of the ones I skipped alot because it was sooo repetitive. I actually think what she did to the poem was clever, but I can't see this being played anymore than Secret Love unless they severely edit it down and make it more dynamic. I really like the music to this song alot. It's dreamy and is just good music to hear in the background. The song, as clever as I think the lyrics are, I just don't think is going to catch a person attention. Still, I like this song a little more with each listen because of the drips of piano in it. I feel like there is a lot that can tightened up with the song, so maybe it can work. I just wish they would try something else. She needs to come out swinging with something that has BIG presence.

i absolutely agree...it appears that the album will have a top 6 entry onto the charts and will make a quick disappearence (and I love the album so it doesn't matter) but if she want's any chance she should do a blazing remix version of Ghost are Gone to appease those who are looking for a rocking anthem(whole lotta trouble) or a remix of Moonlight and try to get a dance hit like planets of the universe...

Well, this may be a surprise, but I been following twitter, lots of people seem to be listening to New Orleans, and it is just good music, no gimmicks
Ghosts are Gone would make a hell of a remix. I can hear it now! And it is ROCK!

A remix of Moonllight in that way would be AMAZING. As far as "rock" songs go, I would MUCH rather see In your dreams (the song) as a single. It is totally catchy.

Moonlight is my favorite song from the album. But I think the piano part establishes the mood and draws you in, and I don't know if that would work on the radio.

The song is rock. I have read blogs where people couldn't stand the country on the album or dreamy stuff, but loved this song. When I first heard this song, it sounded too familiar, but today I couldn't stop listening it. I must of played it over 30 times. From some other posts I get the sense that people are starting to gravitate toward it a bit. Could this song be the suprise hit from the album? Would this fit in on current rock stations and pop stations? The harmonies at the end are sweet. The lyrics are pretty awesome to if people actually pay attention to the words of this.

hmmm, I love Everybody Loves You, probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite song. It would made a great single in 1983.
Your right though, they could remix the crap out Ghosts are Gone and people would appreciate Stevie for rocking out.
If I had my way, I would release it to see what happens and also, You May Be the One. Everyone ignores that song, but it's the meatiest out of them all and I can hear it on the radio. It's just a good song anyone would be proud of. In Your Dreams though just SCREAMS play me on the radio. I don't know how they can ignore it. Baffles me.

It'd be interesting to be a fly on the wall when Stevie, Dave and her record company weigh the songs for the next single. Don't they also somewhat survey radio stations as well?
Some of the speculation on here is interesting but most of it is just "this is my favorite song so it should be the single" At least TRY to put some thought into this people!
For example, I LOVE LOVE LOVE "Wide Sargasso Sea". It ranges from my 2nd to 3rd favorite song consistently but I wouldn't suggest it for a single because as much as I love it I think it's unusual structure wouldn't work for radio.
Even though *I* think "Everybody Loves You" sounds like a single, and many people on here love it, I've seen some people say that the chorus "kills it". I don't see that, but it's possible. "In Your Dreams" and "New Orleans" still sound like obvious singles to me, and "Moonlight"'s popularity can't be dismissed. If the record company goes with "Annabel Lee" my guess is that they think, like some reviewers have said, that there's a real Fleetwood Mac sound/"Dreams"ish appeal to the song.

For my first hundred listens of the cd(lol)I always neglected the last four songs of the album except I.S. but now YMBTO and especially Ghost are Gone are less fairytale, less personal and more commercial ...when she says "where have all the boys gone..or where have the girls gone..it screams "teenagers" and it has the best chance to perk the interests of my teenage nieces and nephews...its not my favorite on the cd but get a producer to remix "the crap out of it" and it could happen!

I think this thread shows that people are putting plenty of thought into it. Would radio play 80s pop Fleetwood Mac on Pop stations today? Is going with pop better than going with a potential rock/pop/country crossover. And the type of guys who like songs like Ghosts are Gone buy lots of music to rock out too. They didn't make the right choice with their first choice of single from this batch of songs.

Actually I think they did make the right choice, or at least the right kind of choice. If Stevie can get played on regular rock radio that would be awesome, but I don't blame her record company for going for trying to get some AC action with "Secret Love". I think it was an appeal to her aging fan base (to put it really bluntly).
I'm not buying the argument "Ghosts Are Gone really rocks! That should be the single!". I mean, maybe. But the song isn't nearly as hooky as "In Your Dreams" or "New Orleans". It's fine to love the song for rocking out but think about it as how likely is it to be a potential single. I thought "Fall From Grace" on TISL was an amazing rocking song....still shouldn't have been a single. My take would be that it would be wise to go with something with the widest possible appeal ergo "In Your Dreams" for its catchy-ness or "New Orleans" for it's catchy-ness (and sentimental reasons) or "Moonlight" for the Twilight hook plus it's the most popular song on the album.
Re: Annabel Lee. I think the Fleetwood Mac sound (with the possible exception of Tango) is timeless. Annabel Lee sounds like timeless Mac, so I don't think it would fail on radio because of sounding "dated".

thats interesting that you brought up Fall From Grace..when she came out and performed that song on the Billboard Awards or American Music Awards...it lit up the crowd...while it wasn't my favorite song from TISL it certainly grabbed the crowd more than every time she did "Everyday" (blah) even to this day FFG still shows up in her concert sets while Everyday is played in elevators and every retirement home all across America...Im not a lover of Ghost are Gone but I'm much more likely to stand up and scream at a concert when that starts rather then Annabel Lee ...(I'm only speaking of attracting new stevie fans and radio play...not my favorite songs on ITD)

True, but that's the concert experience versus a song on the radio. Some songs can be ripping live but still not make a great single release.

It's interesting to me that the three songs apparently earmarked as singles (in terms of serious video shoots) - "Secret Love"; "Moonlight" and "Annabel Lee" - were all written by Stevie and date back many years. I'm surprised there hasn't been more of an emphasis on promoting the Stevie/Dave songwriting team, hence releasing "In Your Dreams" as one of the lead singles.
For the record, my two favourite tracks from the album are "Moonlight" and "Annabel Lee" and I would love to see them issued as singles, albeit in edited form (to enhance their chances of radio play and success). However, "In Your Dreams" (actually one of my least favourite from the album) does stand an excellent chance of radio recognition.
I agree that "The Ghosts Are Gone" could be a hit if adequately remixed/edited, but I also concur that there isn't a real hook, apart from the robust lead vocal that might just draw people in. As an aside, did anyone notice that "The Ghosts Are Gone" is the only song on the album that actually has a fade-out - every other track ends cold. That must be a first for Stevie...

Wait I don't get it - the sizzle reel clips for Moonlight, Annabel Lee, Wide Sargasso Sea, Italian Summer... surely they're parts of longer, full videos? Why would they go the trouble/expense of making just those tiny clips for the trailer?
Yes, I thought Dave (or Stevie) said somewhere they shot 4 videos? Did I make that up? I just assumed it was those 4 songs.
Are they REALLY going to flush the incredible potential of the title track down the toilet?! It's the most radio friendly song Stevie's cut in decades!!
I agree. Definitely more of a single than Secret Love.

Yes but the guitar hook in "The Ghosts Are Gone" isn't strong enough (in my opinion) in terms of single material or radio play. It makes for a good, solid album track but I don't believe it would entice the average radio listener, if it was to ever be played on radio. I do think that if it was radically remixed to highlight the lead vocal and perhaps if the piano was higher in the mix, with a major edit, it may come up to speed. I definitely think this will be performed live and hopefully will make "Fall From Grace" obsolete in future.
i was in target today. IYD CDs had a sticker over the wrapping that said: "including Secret Love and Cheaper Than Free".
would that be b/c these were first two videos - or first two singles?

I personally think IYD would be a great single. It's my favorite track from the CD along with Annabel Lee. However, if this CD is to shoot into the radio stratosphere, which is reserved for the younger generation, I think "Moonlight" may be it.
Annabel Lee and IYD are the AC and AAA tickets for sure.
My ideal single release if it were 1981 or 91 (LOL) would be IYD, Annabel Lee, Moonlight, and then Secret Love maybe. After that, one of the more "country tinged" tracks. Oh hell, maybe Ghosts Are Gone as the third single. IDK.
We know the powers that be had a long time to consider the possible single strategy, and we know that five videos were made: SL, WSS, Moonlight, and AL. Where was IYD? It this CD takes off, Warners may dump a ton of money into production or re-production of any of the tracks. :D

No one is singing the blues on pop stations, and the euro stuff has went almost completely dance. It's dance or some country on pop stations. Not much of the other breaks through or gets a chance to break through.
I have to say You May Be One may actually tie with Moonlight as my favorite. I don't know how you can get anymore perfect then those harmonies at the end. And Everybody Love You takes you into a different world. I wish radio would give them a chance.

Yes, of all the songs that were stuck in my head, In Your Dreams was never one of them. Yes, I hummed the end of Ghosts Are Gone a lot and passages of Moonlight as well. Even though I don't like Annabel Lee, I think it is catchier than In Your Dreams, if you're just looking for something that will be contagious, for the radio. Well, FWIS fills that bill too, but maybe that would fit more on the country playlists.

I know you enjoy "everybody loves you" but i feel releasing that as a single would be a non starter for IYD it's far to personal to connect with the general public. I'm a huge fan of For What It's Worth but I can see it could never be a single. Releasing ELY would be like releasing One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star. It's telling a very personal story pertaining to Stevie that her fans may enjoy but the record buying public would say WTF

You May be The One was my favorite from my first listen last year. While it has a bluesy line or two, the chorus is very pop. I think Dave influenced the bluesy vibe, otherwise this sounds like something that would have been in Bella Donna. I do know the lyrics are old. Stevie told me LB was sitting right next her when she wrote them. I think that is why I responded to this song more than any other upon first hearing the record.
