Did anyone bring their ipod or CD anywhere today, and force IYD upon new listeners?
I brought the CD to work (a salon) and played the entire thing a few times. Aside from one co-worker who so rudly asked, "How can you listen to this?" the reaction was mostly positive (aside from Soldier's Angel) , a few of our clients were even asking about it. (And adored that I am so obsessed) :)
I think if the CD was played start to finish for people who wouldn't normally think to give it a try (like in a salon type place), it could be quite a success.

Played it at work today and then got my parents stoned and made them lay on the bed and listen to it all the way through. Then I gave them a copy to keep (purchased).

I've mostly given up on playing music around others! I don't need others to color how I'll feel about something, especially if that something is a brand new album!

I agree. I'm pretty selective about who I choose to share it with. Stevie's music has always been incredibly dear to me, and in many ways I feel that it's mine. When I do give her music to someone or play it for them, I have to be completely certain and have utmost faith that they will LOVE it. I know the goal should be getting it out there to as many people as possible but, perhaps unfairly, I get pretty offended if someone doesn't like it. I wish that I hadn't have given it up. Since we all respond to and correspond with her lyrics so much, if someone I love doesn't love her music, it's almost as if they're insulting my closest and most personal thoughts and feelings. It's like someone's insulting your religion!

Ooh, me, too!! I gave up years ago. Whether Disco, gay bar music, Stevie or Kate, no one wants to give it a try. I don't even bother now.
My ex-husband Eric loved the same music as me. For what it's worth now...

I wouldn't give up on playing music for others. You might be pleasantly surprised by their reaction. And even if they don't like it, well it's just their taste....doesn't mean anything is wrong with yours. Plus you might introduce them to something that they end up loving.
My boyfriend is big into heavy metal, but I still played the recent Heart and Stevie Nicks albums for him. The result of both was that while he didn't like everything, there will still some songs that he liked a lot (with Heart it was "Queen City" and "Red Velvet Car"...surprisingly not the rocker "WTF"........with Nicks it's been "Wide Sargasso Sea", "Moonlight" and "Ghosts Are Gone" that he likes).

Even though my store did NOTHING to promote this album (no sale price, not authorized for in-store play, only 4 copies, no display space), I forced our Music Manager to put it in the in-store playbin anyway. The store associates thought it was pretty good. (and they loved my air tambourine!)
