this is the first season i've ever watched, mainly since my dd wanted to. but i have really liked it. i like steven tyler, jen, with randy. and jimmy ended up being a plus. after i read how stevie's been watching it because her "friend steven" is on it, and then with jimmy on, i was telling my daughter stevie nicks needs to be on an episode, or it's an absolute shame.
i'm loving me some james and some casey! i'd buy their cd's, for sure. love each of them.

Is this for sure? Where is the article where it says she's going to be on there? I've wished all season for this because Jimmy's been on there mentoring them every week, but I pretty much gave up on it happening this late in the game. But it would be sooooo awesome to see her on there. Is this for real? Or just wishful thinking?

It was posted on the American Idol twitter. They hinted & said the mentor this week is a poet & legend herself.

if this is true, and I suspect that it is, they will be filming it this weekend or Monday at the latest. The guest mentor and Jimmy meet with the contestants very early once they have selected the song -- then the contestant prepares for a couple days, records the track for iTunes, etc. So it would be filmed today or this weekend. Totally possible that this is Stevie! :]

It could be Dolly Parton for all we know. Shes been on there before, and she has written more songs for other pop, rock & r/b artists than she has even written for herself, so the poet thing could be used to describe her, tho I feel songwriter would be a more politically correct term, but who knows? I just hope it's truly someone worthy of the term "legend".

Yeah, I am a Sheryl fan, but poet & legend do not come close to describing her.
If its not Stevie, it makes the most sense that it could be Patti Smith!? After all Jimmy did produce her 78' album "Easter" featuring her biggest hit "Because The Night". And Jimmy & Patti both hail from the mid 70's New York rock scene exploding during both their rise. To me, Legend & Poet in the female music lore could only be Stevie Nicks or Patti Smith:shrug:

04-29-2011, 11:26 PM
WTF? Stevie is an individual--how can you be "close"? It's either her or it's not, but there's no such artist as "almost Stevie."
There aren't many female artists who are described as legends, and I can't think of any but Stevie who are also called poets. So I'm going to cling to my delusion that they're toying with us and it really is her.
And when I'm crushed on Wednesday, the euphoria of Webster Hall will help me move past it.

That was my guess too. I don't see how she's "close," but I would certainly categorize her as a legend and a poet, and I know she has a new album coming out sometime in May.
