SO the big moment is only a few hours away! Who's going to be watching? I'm somewhat curious. I remember when Charles and Diana were married I was 10. I imagine this is an especially big day for most of my U.K friends here.:)

Well, even though its fashionable for a lot of people to be totally disinterested, I personally am a sucker for our brilliant displays of pomp and pageantry, and I am going to be GLUED to the TV all day.

I am proud to be English and proud of our royal heritage :blob1:

I was 10 years old also when Charles and Diana were married and I remember watching their wedding. I am staying up for the wedding, so curious to see Kate's gown. Whats with all the hats?

I''m not a Royalist, though I suppose they are "good ornamentation" for the British to have. I still have no interest in watching the wedding, though. I'm not girly enough to simper over such a grand show of wealth. I just can't believe in love that has in some respects been bought. Maybe I'm cynical, but would Kate have even given William a second look had he not been royalty?

I'm not a roaylist but am happy for any couple to be married and wish them all the best. They'll need it, and I hope that since they've been together for along time and met away from the glare of the press that they can make it work. I'm not watching the wedding but was flipping channels at 11am - you can't deny that she is beautiful and the dress is stunning. Now, back on the with the dvd player...

Kate's excuse is poor application of make up. William's is just horrendous genetics. William is 28 and Kate 29.

That's because Camilla is a horrible old toad.

I wasn't 'excited' and I'm still not but I've watched it and it's been very lovely. Kate looks beautiful and The Queen looks like a happy little lemon.

I am glad Britain still has heritage like this, I'm proud of it. I can't imagine being somewhere where the streets weren't lined with people waving Union flags at an event like this, it'd just be weird.

A model couple for everyone? We saw their publicised front. It's not a testament to them as a couple. Only to their wealth, in my humble opinion. If you want to see a model couple, look for the ones who actually have to live a hard life and value each other completely despite their hardships. They're the people we can learn from.

pretty amazing spectacle and more amazing that every single network in the states is covering it this morning. So much for reporting on the loss of lives due to the tornadoes down south. I guess that is "boring" news. You'd think they could devote 15-20 minutes to some REAL news.

Live a hard life ?

William lost his mother when he was he was 15, is that hard enough for you ?

Since then he has graduated from St Andrews & Sandhurst and now serves in the RAF as a Sea King helicopter pilot. He has fell in love with a beautiful girl and married her. Maybe a little more optimism would be appreciated ;)

You talk of him as if he was a stuck up self important snob. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Plenty of people have lost their parents. These people dont have servants, more money than they can spend and countless people fawning at their feet. I empathise that he lost a parent, but at the end of the day, aside from that he's had it easy. Who celebrates the people who have gone through exactly what he has but without the luxuries? Nobody. Because royalty and glamour are tradeable commodities to be used to set these people on a higher plinth than those who actually deserve it.

I realise you are trying to take the moral high ground but I don't think there is anybody who shouldn't be happy for them. I suggest you read up a little on his background and what he has actually done. You would have people think he lives in a castle with a multitude of servants. He never had that at St Andrews and he doesn't have that now.

As much as I think the non-stop coverage is ridiculous and unnecessary. I do think that William seems like a very gracious and down to earth person, much like his mother. The royals do not seem to be that snobbish, even Charles seems quite charming at times in interviews!

I do know of his background, thank you very much. Just because you don't share my views doesn't mean you should dismiss them as ideas borne of a lack of education on the subject. And if you'd look back, you'd realise that I never said a word against him being happy. Good for him and his new wife. Just don't expect me to care about it more than I would any other couple I havent met.

Now would we call it an attack? Or use the correct term of "response to a comment you made with my own opinion", as most discussion are borne from. If you don't want people to comment on what you've said, don't say anything. It's just that simple. And I love how you keep saying my opinions are based on false information just because you dont agree with me. I'd love to have a debate with you about religion :D ;). Indeed. She is pretty popular with William and Harry by all accounts and if they didn't want her there, she wouldn't have been there. You don't get invited to these things by default, look at Sarah Ferguson  Knocking Camilla is a bit of a cheap shot, really. She's not that bad looking for her age, and she wasn't bad looking when she was young. They shouldn't have stopped Charles marrying her in the first place, then Diana could have just been left alone, and we wouldn't have had to see her on the front page of the Daily Express every day for 25 years.

And I think you have to be pretty sour not to appreciate that we can put on a pretty good show when we feel like it, and that half the rest of the world would kill to have the kind of tradition that we've got. And of course, they spend a fortune when they come to have a look at it. Everyone's a winner.

I loved her top hat. The Queen is such a boss.

I got a bit teary when they got to the altar and Wills told Kate she looked beautiful. Also incredibly jealous of her stunning gown.

Watching the Royal Wedding made me incredibly excited about the possibility of living in the UK next year...I'm so in love with the tradition of the royal family, and all the luxury of it. But also incredibly sad. There's something about fairytale endings that really bothers me lately.

(maybe the fact that I'll never have one)

(I'm not bitter)

I can dream :)

Another depressing element of this: Today is my parents' 25th wedding anniversary but my mom left my dad 3 months ago. Of course the biggest wedding of the 21st century thus far would happen on a day like today.
