I don't think anything will ever top Bella Donna for me, but at the moment, this is definitely in the number 2 spot, in terms of loving all of the songs and the album as a whole. It's pretty incredible.
I'm still not connecting with WSS like all of you seem to be - I like it, but I'm just not FEELING it, if you know what I mean? Maybe it will click soon!
I, too, LOVE Soldier's Angel. It's haunting, it's eerie, and Stevie was right, it's totally Buckingham Nicks. And yet, somehow it still fits with the overall sound and atmosphere of the album. Just wonderful. This is a gem to me.
In Your Dreams is my current favorite I think - it's just so darn catchy! Reminds me a bit of Think About It or I Don't Want To Know, for whatever reason... and I just LOVE the throwback to Bella Donna with the "Come in out of the darkness, it's a beautiful day" part.
I, like most everyone, also really love For What It's Worth. It's definitely also another catchy song, and I'm partial to Stevie and stripped down instrumentals. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful melody, beautiful guitar.
Ghosts Are Gone is SO ROCKING. Fun, and in your face. Also, again, loving the reappearance of that darn ghosts through a fog line! This makes it the third song?
I really dig the bluesyness of You May Be The One.
I wasn't expecting the like synth intro to Everybody Loves You, but I like it :) I also think the verses are really awesome but I'm not a huge fan of the chorus really. Also these lyrics: "Don't come here again
Unless fear of fire leaves you cold
And the cold leaves you tired
If you fear at all"
I don't have a clue what they mean but I LOVE THEM.
obviously there are more tracks but I'm getting a little winded here so I'll have to talk about them some other time. I just can't get over this album, I really can't. I'm officially buying a copy for every person I know.

Mick seems to have a very distinct sound and yeah, you can def hear him on this.

So this is likely Nicks' best solo album ever. She says that Buckingham's upcoming solo album is his best ever. As she says "I wish he would have saved those songs for the next Fleetwood Mac album" which I think he could say about her songs on this record! lol
Does this bode well for a new Fleetwood Mac album if there is one? They both certainly seem on a real creative roll here.

I still think without Christine, it's really just a BN album. I think this new solo CD outshines the last Mac album by far.

Well, she also said: "Or maybe Lindsey and I will go off and rent a house in Wales and do a Buckingham Nicks album. I have no idea, but I do know the music will continue."
So, hope springs eternal! :D

Does anyone know the name of the hotel that inspired Italian Summer?

If anyone has an Android phone, there's a way to listen to the songs on your phone.
I downloaded the Adobe Flash app and then opened up my browser to the Rolling Stone site and as long as the Flash app is on your phone you can open the preview link from the Rolling Stone website and the album will play. This will at least tide me over in the car until Tuesday - I just have to put the volume up all the way on my phone and turn my car radio off! I just have to make sure my phone is charged like all the time because leaving my browser open that much will definitely wear my battery down!
If anyone else already knew this, I apologize if it's repetitive, but I am still getting the hang of the whole app thing, so I was pretty pleased with my discovery!

I'm way late to the party on this.
Just listened and I think the album has everything, rock, blues, country, pop and a couple of those sweeping, plot culmination songs that makes you think you're at a Broadway play or watching a fifties panoramic movie musical (Italian Summer). As a whole, the album is breath-taking, really.
I would say that You May Be the One is my favorite after the initial listen, but we all know that type of preference thing is subject to change 1000 times. Righteous, indeed.
I didn't really care for Annabel Lee and New Orleans . . . ugh. It was boring and went on for an interminable length of time. I already knew Cheaper Than Free was a dud and I wish it wasn't the closer.
Everybody Loves You sounded good in the midst of the other songs. This is no hallmark entry like Everyday was. I didn't like it as much on its own, from what we heard, as I do in the context of the album. Actually, the same can be said of Secret Love, oooh wee. The album and the video have really elevated SL song for me.
I would say that if I was ranking the songs in order of preference, In Your Dreams would probably be down at #10, though I like it.
Soldier's Angel was meaningful commentary. Makes a statement and Lindsey's voice is very nice complementary.
The end of Ghosts of Gone reminded me of the great Wild Heart tracks that actually are best during the last 30 minutes when the song is fading out.
Love the vengeance in Wide Sargasso Sea. He fell to his knees when he saw THIS. I don't even think she should go on to say "kiss." I think just THIS is enough to give us an idea of exactly what prostrated him.
Loved the "strange, strange" chorus part in Moonlight.
This is a great album. I'm not ranking it above TISL right now. But along with Wild Heart and TISL, I'd put in my Top 3 Stevie solo albums.
Instantly, this is a vital part of the legacy. This record is like having a baby. Now that it's here, now that we have it, the idea that we might not have received it is unthinkable it. Can't imagine it not existing.

I hadn't thought of it like that, but I absolutely know what you mean. This album fits in so perfectly with what's gone before. It reminds me of Gift of Screws in that it seems to take the strongest elements of each solo album and blend them into something very cohesive and very complete in its "Stevie-ness", if you will.
Even if we don't get another Stevie album (and I hope she goes on making music for years and years!), this would be a wonderful way to tie the legacy together. Not just because it's such a good, solid album, but because it represents the best of what she's done over the years.

I'm really loving FWIW. It reminds me of a cross between Sweet Girl and Space needle, if that makes any sense. Love the lyrics:

I got to dance
I got to be a part of a great romance
Still forbidden
I'm obsessed with this song!

I'm pretty much in love with For What It's Worth right now.
I'm just hearing about rollingstone letting us listen to the full album.
I was gonna go to bed, but now I can't without listening to this whole thing.
I love her voice so much <3
In Your Dreams(song) is gonna grow on me...right now it's just like meh.
There's always one that does this, but I eventually LOVE it in the end.

So my question is this...If you record the FREE streaming IYD from Rolling Stone is it still an Illegal download??? I mean they (WB) want us to hear it...It's not like someone swiped a copy and snuck it on the Internet...IYD has "Officially" been put up... I did this and it was simple...My computer runs through my surround sound system (Sounds awesome) also I burn my records to CD...I just pulled up the recorder while streaming IYD...Instant advanced copy of IYD...It sounds sooo good in the car...Yes I will buy at least one copy...Well probably more than that...If RS has pulled it then I'm glad I "Saved it"...Legal Or Not???

In a legal sense, I have no idea. From an ethical point of view, if you just recorded it for your own use and intend to buy it I don't see how it matters. Now if you put up your recording on a site for others to download it, then yes you'd clearly be pirating.

i remember taping songs off the radio all the time "back in the day." and friends borrowing each other's albums to tape record. i had rumours and tusk that way for years before i eventually bought them in bargain bins. we were young with little money.we shared the love. ;p and people bootlegged live concerts. and the record people and rock stars still made a fortune too. weird how things have changed so much.

here is a review of her cd from rollingstone a great review they love it
But the real showstopper here is the Edgar Allan Poe tribute "Annabel Lee," a fan fave that's been kicking around on bootlegs since the Nineties. It's a six-minute meditation on love and death with echoes of the Fleetwood Mac classic "Dreams." Poe's key line — "The moon never beams without bringing me dreams" — might have been written in 1849, but it was clearly meant for Stevie Nicks to sing.
Love this!

Secret Love is nothing outstanding but it's a good song and it works as an opener - but in regards to the rest of the album, CTF is severely below par in my opinion. Italian Summer would have been a fine closer.... CTF should have kept its home on The Blackbird Diaries - although I now realize that it's probably on both because Stevie loves it so much.

I am absolutely loving the album from start to finish...so far my absolute favorite is 'Italian Summer' followed VERY closely by Everybody Loves You and New Orleans...I've only listened twice, but honestly there wasn't anything I didn't love...

I agree that Cheaper Than Free isn't the strongest song on the album. Yes, Italian Summer would be the obvious song to end the album because of the dramatic build up. But I'm glad they didn't go with obvious! Cheaper Than Free is a nice soft coda. It's unexpected choices like that that make the album so great.

Rolling Stone made the decision to make that material available... I think it's okay to post it.
Just in case, I'll check with the fellow Mods.
