Thanks for sharing this! I have to say, I REALLY wish these reviews we're starting to see trickle in were more detailed! :(

There were a few things that grabbed me about this review. Mainly, the title track being described as "racy." For some reason I'd expected it to be a dreamy, slower song. Secondly, I loved hearing the harmonies on Soldier's Angel are very Fleetwood Mac esque. I honestly didn't expect Lindsey to leave much of a vocal presence on the song at all. Thirdly, I love that every single review of this album describes it as "classic Nicks."

Sounds like a decent review, although there isn't much substantive stuff about the music. I wonder what they mean when they describe the title track as 'racy'? I get the feeling it might be a 'screw you, you had your chance and blew it' kind of song.

I had to reread that section of the review to figure out what the reviewer meant by "racy," because that comment definitely made my ears prick up too! Seeing how the preceding sentence was talking about Secret Love being mid-tempo, I'm inclined to believe "racy" is describing tempo, not lyrical subject matter. I could be totally wrong, though... it's pretty ambiguous.

He says download For What It's Worth, yet, he doesn't mention it in his review. Decent review though.

I totally missed that! Made me notice the blurb right above that, too. Stevie would just die of pride at being compared to Bob Dylan, wouldn't she?

Yeah, this album has been described as Bob Dylanesque by a lot of people and For What It's Worth has been mentioned on everyone's list as one of the best songs, if not the best.

guess I'm a little confused on how to take the headline

I hadn't considered that, but it would make sense. I'm getting quite excited now that the reviews are starting to trickle in. It's so tantalisingly close to release!

It's an homage to the album title and is saying that you don't have to dream about the album sounding like classic Nicks because it does :). I took it as a wholly positive thing.

I was wondering that too. Maybe it is out of 4 though? In a way it doesn't really matter anyway, because it's all highly subjective. There are several albums that I don't greatly like, but those albums often contain four or five songs that I love. I guess critics can't account for that when giving an overall rating to an album.

I was too. My heart sank when I read it the first time, but in the context of the whole review, I'm with Louie - it's definitely a favourable thing.

But all these reviews do is leave me wanting more! I fear though that if they were all as specific and as in-depth as we wanted them to be, they would run for a good few pages :p

And from the looks of other Herald Sun album reviews, its 3 out of 5 stars. Seems like a hard marker to me.

Rolling Stone only gave Bella Donna 3 out of 5 stars. I'll take 3.

This review altough again lacking in detail is probably going to be pretty accurate of what we are getting IMO.We, the hardcore fans will for the mosr part love it I'm guessing and it will hold up solidly with the rest of her solo work.I like how this reviewer says that age has not diminished her skills . A very good sign,Stevie has never quite been a critics darling so good review.

it's killing me that Scott Podmore has heard "In Your Dreams" before me and is telling me, a long time fan, that I will love this album. I guess being in the media has its perks...

nice review.

I'm pleased with this review! It isn't very detailed, but I think as a whole it will probably end up reflecting how a majority of us fans will feel about the album. I love that it reiterates what others have said, that it is very classic Stevie -witchy 70's rock. It sounds promising in my opinion, as, well, that's what Stevie does best.

Glad they went into Soldier's Angel a bit, about the Stevie/Lindsey harmonies. I'm anxious to hear how this one turns out because Stevie's dubbed it as her 'most revered song' and was so intent on getting it on the album.

I interpreted the title as "Nope, you aren't dreaming, this is classic Stevie!"

I was also glad to hear a little about "Soldier's Angel." I had been wondering if there would be much harmonizing, or just Lindsey playing guitar on one of her track. Glad to know they are singing together!

So someone in Australia has heard this but we can't even get a 30 second preview on Amazon?

I hate that he wastes 1/2 of his space rambling before even getting to the review of any cuts.

I guess it's so maddening because we don't have the album yet and we are looking for track information, not a career retrospective.

I took it bad initially. I thought he was saying the album wasn't good. Then after reading the review, I saw he meant that she's not a dream. She's a reality, a positive reality.

However, due to the ambiguity, he should have used another headline.

I'm going to proceed on the assumption that racy doesn't mean speed.

I'm imagining she's telling him exactly what he's missing and can only have in his dreams. Stevie wouldn't get explicit, but she may get as pointed as she does in Love Is.

I shouldn't judge a song by it's title, but I am just depressed about Soldier's Angel. I think it is a wasted duet. Sonny Bono wrote an anti-war song for Cher about a girl who lost her love in Vietnam once (Cruel War). Other than that, I can't think of one single song sharing that theme that I've liked. Ugh.

Glad you all enjoyed the review :o

I totally wasn't expecting to see one yet, let alone in an Australian newspaper! The only thing that worried me was that no release date was mentioned, so Joe Public might go out looking for it already and give up when they can't find it (?)

he described one song as midtempo, and In Your Dreams as racier. I think it means pace.

The song "In your Dreams" was described as uptempo and catchy as long ago as last summer.
