STEVIE NICKS
Gold Dust Woman, 62

When was the last time you looked at an old photo in horror?
I've been looking through a lot of old photos recently and there have been some scary hair ones. Most of my hair styles, I've liked. The only time it got out of hand was at the end of the '80s and the huge perms were in - and extensions. So you had this huge bouffant and these stringy extensions, too. I look at those photos and say, "Stevie, you have always had beautiful hair - what were you thinking? How could you have walked out the door looking like that?"

When was the last time you had a fight with Lindsey Buckingham?
Lindsey and I always have fights and we did 83 Fleetwood Mac shows together in 2009 so we had a couple then. We always will. Our up-and-down relationship never really changes. It's no different now than it was back in 1976 when we broke up. But in November, Lindsey did help me record The Soldier's Angel, which is one of the tracks on my new album.

When was the last time you thanked your God that you're still alive?
I've put a lot of people through rehab because they can't afford it. I keep an eye on their progress and talk to them about it. Each time I hang up the phone, I say, "Thank God I'm not in rehab, or have to get up tomorrow and stop drinking, or stop smoking, or stop doing drugs." That was such a pressure for so many years. I am very lucky to be alive. I could've easily slipped away.

When was the last time you slept in your own bed?
Well, I tour a lot so I'm not always at home. I'm in rehearsals now and ready to go on a tour so I won't be home for a while. But I made my new record at home, which made it a joy. [Producer] Dave A Stewart and all my band practically moved in. It was fantastic, we would write, record and eat dinner together.

When was the last time you spoke to old bandmate Christine McVie?
The last time I saw Chris was when Fleetwood Mac played the Unleashed Tour at Wembley in 2009 and she came. She looked great and I miss her terribly. The fact she lives in England is a huge bummer as it means I can't see her. I'm not a real phone person and I don't email as I don't have a computer so it's hard to keep in touch with her and I hate that. She was my best friend forever.

When was the last time someone called you Stephanie?
My dad used to call me Stephanie and I have one friend, called Rebecca, who calls me Steph. In my journal I sign it Steph - so I call myself Steph, not Stevie. But I've been called Stevie since I was two years old and Stephanie was only ever used when someone was angry with me, though Mick Fleetwood calls me Stephanie sometimes!

When did you last write poetry?
I write poetry all the time but the last time my poetry was used in my lyrics was for two new songs called For What It's Worth and Cheaper Than Free. I write all the time in my journal. See, have a look [showing her journal], I have poetry, postcards that I collect, my drawings. I keep all my poetry and journals in a vault, in case my house burns down. I'm so superstitious that I even get worried when I travel with them. What if we crash? My whole life is in them and would be gone.

When was the last time you were late for anything?
Probably today. I'm due to rehearse with Rod Stewart for our joint US tour and I'm chatting away and giving my manager a heart attack. It's the first time Rod has made rehearsals because he has been sick, so it's important to meet on time or I might miss him.

When was the last time you were asked about the cocaine blown up your bum story?
I hate it when it comes up. It makes me so angry because of course it never happened and I don't understand why someone said that about me in the first place. I am such a lady and so very prudish and all about wearing lots and lots of lingerie and clothes - I'm the opposite of that story. It's just so insane and disgusting and makes me nauseous. Whoever set that story off, I hope they rot and burn in hell.

This was a fun read. Not to mention this covered at least one of the questions I remember seeing in the "Ask Stevie 1 question" thread!

Too bad every interview wasn't more like this format.

Hmmm...read all of the answers carefully and notice that she hardly gives a definitive answer for any of them! She sidesteps them all. The interview is based on "when was the last time this or that..." and she goes off into little tangents. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE her answers - but c'mon lady - answer the questions!!!

Right?

She like goes off on these little spiels that relate to the question but don't directly answer it.

However, I do enjoy her little anecdotes. And I always love when Stevie talks about her hair haha.

You know, I cannot believe that these retarded interviewers are asking a 63 year old woman about having cocaine blown up her ass. I mean...who really cares at this point? It's incredibly childish and done purely for shock value. There are so many intelligent, legitimate things to ask Stevie, why waste everyone's time with that garbage? I was really enjoying all the entire Q&A session until I got to the last question and I was like, how the hell did that get in there?

Also - I'm thrilled she identified the Tango/Mirror hair years as the worst. They certaintly were, - hands down. I'm glad Stevie can now see this!

Stevie keeps us up-to-date with her enlightenment! First she gives us this angelic mantra (“When you’re hurt or angry, let go by tapping into your humbleness. You want people to remember you for your grace”). And then she shares this heavenly gem: "I hope they rot and burn in hell."

I wonder whether the disgusting wretch who asked that -- a stale joke that wasn't funny the first time & sure as hell isn't funny ten years on -- went home & thought, "Maybe I shouldn't have said that to a 63-year-old woman--it was tacky."

You see this all the time now. Interviewers trying to get a rise out of people by asking rude or insensitive questions, just so they can get some attention for themselves. I wonder if this interviewer would ask Ann or Nancy Wilson if they were gay lovers or ask Rod Stewart about the stomach pumping story?

You're right. How does one defend ones self against a rumor? If you ignore it, "well, it must be true because she didn't deny it;" if you respond to it, "well, I think the lady doth protest too much." Or, "well, you didn't think she would own up to that anyhow, did you?" There's no end to it. As David, said, it was a classless thing to bring up as she has denied this rumor several times now, along with a few other ones. It's been brought up a few times on this fan website as "fact." I suspect a gutless clown said it in jest once as a "possibility" to be funny ("well, if she can't use her nose, there are other ways, you know"), and it took on a life of it's own. I think this is the first time she spoke out loud and clear, but even that can be gasoline on the subject--something for the next moron interviewer to bring up since it's in a publication and on the internet.

You know, I'm pretty sure there was a time when Stevie was not a prude. I've heard waaaaay too many stories to believe that she let her wild side rock out in the 70's and early 80's. And lets be honest, if she had been such a prude, would she have had sex with so many different guys...( and gals; I believe), let alone turning into a major cokehead who would would do anything for a hit. I really do wish she would embrace and celebrate her rock & roll past more instead of acting ashamed of it. She did play the boys game but remained a woman while playing it. She paid a price but survived and that's one of the great things about her. However, I have heard this rumour for years and have come to believe that it's bullhocky. Some roadie or moron started it for a laugh and it grew. Whenever I see this story posted I want to get in touch with whoever posted it and ask if they did any research and have proof or facts to back it up, or is it just some sh*t they heard and they thought it would be "cool" to post it.

After all of these years, the question is ridiculous, rude and irrelevant.

I do get tickled by the evidence Stevie uses to prove the allegations untrue. 'I'm a prude and I like to wear lots of clothes, so it couldn't have happened.'

Well, that may be true, but I'm not sure it's a fire proof defense. Michele

Remember that interview where Stevie made a comment about Lindsey leaving FM in '82, and Lindsey goes "No, I didn't... I left in '87" and then they started going back and forth "discussing" it and the interviewer remarked that it seemed like they forgot he was in the room haha.

But thats the thing. Q magazine has asked it 3 times already. The first time was May 2001, the second time was May 2008, and she flat out denied the rumor, but they chose to bring it up again, yet a third time. They must simply get off on it. That's why I was surprised she responded. She should have told them to Fu@k Off.

Yeah, the coke up the ass rumor is incredibly played and well, by this time, boring. Like someone else said, that question didn't even fit the interview, and was blatantly used for sensationalistic shock value. Shame on that reporter. If Q has pulled this same thing 3 times, then Stevie shouldn't give them anymore interviews. Enough is enough already, right?
