I had this emailed to me a while back from a friend, I don't know if it's been posted in here or not. But these are epic! Not found on any of the long-time circulated reels. Well, I think a few of them show up on some compilations, but these are A+++ quality. I LOVE this version of If You Ever Did Believe. (It's got the YAAAA at the beginning). And the After the Glitter Fades is the country version, but with added harmonies. Definitley sounds like it was recorded circa 75-76.
I have no idea where the title of this reel originates... Or anything like that. Just got it emailed to me from someone. Does anyone know if there are supposed to be 12 other tracks?
And I also don't know why it's labelled as "Reel #1". I know the reels were label numbered as to how they were distributed... But there was already a reel #1 wasn't there? (I don't exactly remember what it was, but I think it had Bella Donna included). So I don't think this is from the "original distributions"...........Any info would be appreciated!
Sorry if this has been posted already. But as a longtime reel collector I just know how excited I was to get these, so if some other people don't have it yet they might get a thrill :)
And if this better fits a more appropriate thread, feel free to move it.
Hope you collectors like this!

**EDIT*****
I found some more info on the origin of this reel from throwndown.net (Posted by the owner of the reel...)
Newly discovered and uncirculated master reel!
I purchased this reel about a year ago and had it transferred. I was on the fence if I wanted to post, but I figured, what the hey. So here you are!!! This reel certainly has a "country" vibe to it. The version of IYEDB is amazing and has a STUNNING version of The Highway Man. This is the MP3 version. I have the lossless version reserved as well as the individual tracks as shown on the reel cards below. I also had the studio create a lossless "acapella" disc using the vocal tracks of each song. I will be using the lossless, tracked, and acapella for trading purposes! Additionally, the way these tracks are here, are exactly how they were on the reel. No alterations/editing has been done to them.
I also had the studio make me an acapella version as well as seperate discs of each song of their individual "unmixed" tracks that is shown in the cards.
A recording studio in Los Angeles did it for me. The studio that did the transferring took the individual tracks and mixed them into the finished song.
...How nice of him to go through all that work and time. He has the LOSSLESS versions up for trade if anyone is interested.

This Reel was purchased by the guy who runs the Seven Wonders site. He bought it last year, had it transferred, and just recently posted it to share now finally.
Makes you wonder what other Reels and other treasures are out there...

Yeah I think that's who I got it from. It was like, almost a year ago now that I got it though... So I don't exactly remember.

Thanks for posting HighPassion- btw love your name & the song by which it was inspired . It's appropriate considering the country-fried track transfers you posted. These are definitely upgrades. This era of If You Ever Did Believe is one of my all time favorites. Has it ever been confirmed that JD Souther performs and sings on this demo. It sure sounds like him.

There is some kind of pitch or speed problem with these. And I could swear these are already out there at the right speed. I'm almost positive I have these on another hard drive or god knows where...

Yes, the other Master Reels already have this "If You Ever Did Believe" and "Think About It" at their proper speeds and sound. These are the same versions, but way too slow.
This "After The Glitter Fades" and "The Highwayman", however, are not on the other Masters. Entirely new to me!

Glad you guys are enjoying these. I also think Stevie needs to do a Country album. But like, REAL country - like this stuff - not the polished stuff that's popular today.
I too was wondering about the speed, because I know I had a lesser quality version of Highwayman with Don Henley and she sounded more like Dolly Parton-esque.
But once I heard these, I just figured those ones were sped up because they were just on random demo compilation albums - and this is from the reel. Although it's very possible that the reel wasn't digitally transferred at the right speed.

Yeah I think they're found on the "Gems" Reel-t0-Reels. Although "If You Ever Did Believe" was edited out with the "Yeah" at the beginning. *maybe?*
I only recall ever hearing a very muffled version of this one before hearing this reel. But I could be wrong :)
Glad you found something new on here though! The Highwayman is one of my all time favorite stevie songs - I love hearing different versions of it

No, this "If You Ever Did Believe" is slowed down, transferred incorrectly from its "reel". The exact same version of the song is on the widely circulated Masters, in its correct speed; not a "sped up random demo comp", but its proper speed, transferred with much care in the studio. And of much better sound quality.

Yeah thank you for clarifying that :)
I was just saying that I don't think I've ever heard this version come directly from a reel - just lower quality versions on demo compilations. So I was at first unsure which was more liable.
And I don't think this exact version of If You Ever Did Believe has circulated before, regardless of speed. But I'm not going to lose sleep over it

I have to agree 1000 percent.I'm a big country music fan.I hope soon.she was in Nashville with Dave.We have other rockers coming over to country like Kid Rock,Uncle Kracker,Sheryl Crow,Jewel and Darius Rucker from Hootie and the Blowfish.Guarantee Stevie will have a number one song on the country chart. She can blow off her friend Taylor Swift off the charts.I hope "Cheaper Than Free", will get some country airplay.
Think About It.. Highway Man . If You Ever Did Believe. After the Glitter Fades plus Leather and Lace are my faves.

The card inserts from the original reel state that it was recorded at 30 ips. When I checked it out on a program, it says the speed is 33 ips.
So I don't know if these were slowed down during the transfers....

I agree! I'm not a fan of cheesy country music. In fact, for a long time I've dismissed all country music. But I've come around to really appreciate (what I consider) good country music and a bunch of highly respected artists. Stevie has always referenced her initial country influences from her grandfather.
Like you, I think if Stevie recorded a country album it would be a huge success! I'm sure a lot of legendary country musicians and artists would be lining up to work with her. An unlikely artist, Elvis Costello, put out a well-respected country album. It's not a far reach for her to do it.

Agreed - I initially thought they were slowed at times as well, but Stevie's vocal is spot on in some parts (ATGF & The Highwayman) and the slow parts still sound like her natural voice. To me anyway.

My bet is she was stoned, so she just was going a bit slower cause it sounded "surreal".
Nice to see a familiar face around here KC :) Its me, Daniel!

 That's a very real possibilty. I've been known to talk a little slower when I'm really stoned, too.
Nice to see you as well. :woohoo:
