"Chanel, Chanel" is definitely from Rock A Little.

I apologize sincerely for being so horsey and insisting it was from 1996-1999 or so.

That version that I, and others, thought was from the Trouble In Shangri-la era is 100% from the Rock A Little sessions.

I'm very sorry for acting like a know-it-all. A nice lesson in humility.

Take "Chanel, Chanel" off your TISL Demos lists ~ it's Rock A Little!

Well, that's cool to be able to place it with certainty. Now if only a clear copy would surface! It's such a great song - I love the lyric that goes something like this: "Because he would have lost if he had loved, And never yet found what they both were - no, Such a beauty...Woah, love can never be lost!"

Wow i thought it sounded very TISL also. I def. wouldn't have pegged it for RAL at all. It's one of those great little songs that's really good but somehow gets lost in the shuffle !

Where did you find this out, definitively? I know it's been debated, and it definitely sounds like it's from the TISL era.

Mike, I hope this means the crappy version we all have is on the 84' "work tapes" and in even better quality.:woohoo: If so, please tell, the suspense is killing some of us.

Thanks for the info., Mike... her voice always did seem to have a bit more of that warbly raspiness of the mid-80's than the other late 90's demos, but the production and the range she was singing in did make it hard to tell and would almost seem to fit more with the early TISL sessions. Good to know for sure though!

Hey, I was just on a thread yesterday, being a jerk, proclaiming that version of "Chanel, Chanel" to defintiely be from 1996~1998, "obviously" from the Trouble In Shangri~la era. I guess I based it on what sounds like "Sheryl" at the beginning, which would be Sheryl Lewis in 1996 and Crow in 1998.

But I was absolutely wrong. It's Rock A Little.

Stevie has different voices in the Rock A Little era. I'd put "Chanel, Chanel" closer to her "No Spoken Word" voice than her "I Sing For The Things" voice.

But it's definitely Rock A Little.

I'd love to know what else is on the tapes. I think everyone else would too.

Does this have to do with those tapes you won?! :blob2:
