What program do I open this with?

Try VLC media player.. that's the only program that would open it for me, although there are some sync issues on my PC with the audio and video (video is kinda choppy). This could just be an issue with my specific video card, so I would give it a try anyways.

You can download here:

It's a HD format. You can play it with Windows Media Player or the VLC player, which is the player everyone should have. It's free, cross-platform and will play almost every kind of video format.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVCHD

I will upload the entire file, which is in Quicktime, to megaupload and fileserve later tonight.

The editor of this sizzle reel is the lead editor on the "Secret Love" music video, which he says is on its way.

Dave Stewart has over-extended himself and everything is late. His musical "Ghost" opened on March 28 in London, Stevie's album, his album, the Stevie documentary and music videos, his music video and documentary, etc. It's all from his company, Weapons of Mass Entertainment.

Thank you so much for the info! :)

Also, if anyone is interested, I think this is the issue (at least for me) with the M2TS file, which I found in a forum from a google search:

"... Windows doesn't have hardware acceleration on m2ts files, so even though they play, it's all up to the processor."

My computer is about 5 years old already, and likely this is an issue with my graphics card that probably can't handle the file very well.

Not happy about this song taking up space on the new album when there are thousands of better songs she could have chosen. That being said, I bet there's more to it than just being another song on the album. It's something special that she and Dave share which we really don't have the specifics of.

P.S. That's Alright is a top 10 for me so it's not even the country factor, it's more than that.

Sorry... I just cannot stand country. Plus, I think the production on the Mirage album version of the song is just plain hokey to me. The original demo "Designs Of Love" is better, in my opinion. But overall, I just think Stevie should leave the twang to others and focus on her strongest suit: mysticism.

PS: Thanks John for converting the file! :D

I love That's Alright! I'm a big country fan but I don't like it to be too cheesy. Faves include Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle etc etc... I don't like people like Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney etc...

I like Stevie doing country though, especially on Bella Donna - The Highwayman in particular is a big LA country rock type ballad, I think so anyway.

As for Cheaper Than Free in this video, I'm not sure about it. I'll wait to hear more bout right now it's Dave's voice that is really grating on me on it. Stevie sounds ok, the little that we hear, but Dave - no.

Exactly-- this track seems like space taken up as a way to give Dave a more tangible role in the album for people who don't know the details of his production work. That being said, this is better than the little clip we got months ago...

That was awesome. Stevie looks so happy! So unlike the Destiny Rules doc!

But I'm sorry. Dave is just mugging all the time and his voice is ugly/boring. Who is he trying to sound like? Leonard Cohen?! She should have just teamed up with Leonard Cohen!

Thanks for a lil' more Sizzle! I could never get too much of that.
I'm all over the map with this Cheaper Than Free song:shrug:. At first what I thought was just ok, grew into love over that little clip Dave posted back in October. Then out of nowhere, we hear an additional verse/lyrics, in the longer clip a few months ago, and I gasped UGH!! I no likey - mostly due to the overly simplistic lyrical sentiment, not the music. But now, I hear and see this new clip, and I'm digging this song all over again.

I've never minded Stevie doing county tinged songs. She really seemed well suited for it, esp when her voice was more supple, and besides it's in her roots and ingrained in her songwriting style. So I loved all the country inspired music on Bella Donna, Mirage down to Rose Garden. TFFT, though not horrible, was trying too hard to be contemporary pop country, and Stevie definitely phone in that vocal. But CTF - the music and vocal subtleties - sound authentic. A slow burning whiskey-tinged, old fashioned country dirge. I'm suddenly getting this song. Of course I'll reserve complete judgement till I've heard the entire thing, but this song is looking up for me. I even like Dave's vocal.

I'm indifferent to Cheaper Than Free. I'm not a fan of the lyrics, but there is something about "What's deeper than a deep well? The love into which I fell..." that I love. I think it is the way Stevie sings it that I love so much, but whatever it is, I like that part. "What's faster than a FAST car?" not so much.

I don't think so at all. They're terribly trite and cliche.. so better? Not really... But they do probably make more sense than a lot of her lyrics, for sure.

Personally I just don't see what the purpose in putting the song on BOTH of their albums is. It's already on Dave's, why does it need to be on Stevie's too.

Great to see Stevie looking so alive and having so much fun in these clips.

Idk, Stevie has had her share of strange lyrics, (And she stares at the stairs, there are many things to stare at these days!!) but I much prefer her writing to be like this:

The bright light is lying down
The earth and the sea and the sky
Is at rest with the ocean
And the days go by
They go into the seas that have no shores
Haunted by that same closed door
Looking up at skies on fire
Leaving nothing left of us
To discover

Than this:

What's cheaper than free?
You and me.
What's better than alone?
Going home.
What does money not buy?
You and I.
What's not feel when love is real?
What's faster than a fast car?
A beating heart.
What's deeper than a deep well?
The love into which I fell.
More important than freedom?
Being needed.
More exciting than high fashion?
High passion!!

They aren't bad, but they get repetitive and even tho they are sentimental, they aren't mysterious or lyrically creative at all.

OMG my sentiments exactly. I think it would be a nice dainty song to have on Dave's album and an incentive to buy it and something we could all fully enjoy as an extra Stevie song, not coinciding with any of her work . But making it part of In Your Dreams takes away from the allure of being an extra, sorta "special" Stevie track and it lumps it in with her work of art that is In Your Dreams, which may ultimately devalue the album itself.

Oh yes they are BAD! Like LukeA said, they're very "Barney & Friends." They're just utterly cliche and so very literal. I like it when Stevie writes about dragons, sorcerers, planets, and crystal visions. She can be such a master at ethereal metaphors. That's what drew most of us to her work.

"What's faster than a fast car?" Give me an effing break!

Planets of the Universe was one of the best written songs of her career. It's not right comparing it to Cheaper than Free because the majority of her songs are not like that.

Planets of the Universe was one of the best written songs of her career. It's not right comparing it to Cheaper than Free because the majority of her songs are not like that.

Which is exactly why I don't see her love for this song or why she felt it needed to be on this record. We know she can write much much better, so what did she love about this one? And I wouldn't say the majority of her songs aren't like Planets. Maybe Planets is close to the top of her list, but most of her songs are at a level slightly below Planets, whereas Cheaper than Free seems to be on the bottom rung, lyrically. I personally love these two songs, but you cannot say that these are some of the best songs she's ever written, yet I think they have more creativity and mystique than CTF:

Dreams reoccur in my solitude
Breaking my heart
Injuring my mood
With all of the things that I thought I knew
It was you

The conversations ring in my head
I remember everything that we said
All those tears that we shed
Don't call me when you're lonely

Well once more I tell the shadows of my soul
To stay back
Everything has changed now
And I don't want to go back
And nothing you can say can change my mind

And...

She had the Midas touch
She was Lady Luck
She's got a million bucks
And she looks like it
She's had a few hard times
Sometimes it blows her mind
Those papers she never signed
Sometimes she remembers...

Sometimes she was just an actress
But you'll never really know
A shadow moves across her face
You cannot see her soul
Unless she lets you...
See her soul

She was a girlie girl
Caught in a man's world
And as her world turns
She feels so alone
Still she's a danger girl
Insane far beyond her years
On some things she's very clear
She's a wild adventurer

I've said it once and I'll say it again.

They lyrics don't blow me away...they're way too literal, and quite simple.

However, I think that what I'm liking about the song is that it's so simple. It's a very sweet sounding song, and to see it played with the clips of her and Dave together makes it even clearer to me why she liked this song so much. I think it sums up the relationship that she and Dave developed while working together, and while it's not mythical, obscurely lyrical poetry, it's direct, straightforward and simple.

I like it.
