Hi All.At times we have to think of these things.I'm about to write a will out.Of course. The house, car and my other assets will be listed.Which will be written to my sister and niece and nephews.now the big thing as we here know we love and cherish our Stevie and FM stuff.Of course some of our reletives think our collections are junk and will go to the dump.Of course its no value to them.Like I found out when I lost my older sister 3 1/2 years ago when my middle sister dump all of her stuff from storage bin into the dumpster without letting me and my mom checking any of the stuff.then 2 years later then my mom passed away.and some things of my moms got trashed.anyway I think when I'm lying in the box or in the canister when all my Stevie /FM stuff will never find a new home.

I would will it to another close fan/friend. I did my will about a year ago and I didn't mention specifics but my sister knows who to give it all too and there is SOOOO much I have.:)

Just a suggestion- why not donate your Stevie stuff to a gay/lesbian youth center? Seriously, wouldn't they appreciate it? I hope you live for MANY more years, but even if you pass in the year 2050, I'm sure there will be gay youth who will think that stuff is cool even if they are not sure who Stevie Nicks is.
Either that or have your people sell your stuff on eBay....do not let them trash it! That's just wrong!
Just my suggestions...hoping you live a long, healthy, happy, and Enchanted life.

I think of this often. One man's treasure is another one's trash. I have a huge collection of music and memoribilia. Within that are manrare items that could fetch a lot of money--to a select consumer base. In fact, if particular items were marketed on the internet to a certain audience, it could turn into a small business venture.
But who would take on the effort and have the knowledge to know what is on hand? Even if they had slight inclination of the possibilites, would they have initiative and investment of time do it? Lots of valuable media/material will likely get thrown away. That thought kills me, because I would love to know that it to be passed on others who will value it as much as I did.
I guess an extensive will, with great preparation and detailed instructions is the only way to ensure that doesn't happen. That would mean cataloging every item and assigning a estimated value. Yikes! That is a major task!

I have a colleague with a collection of military memorabilia, figurines etc. His wife reportedly asked him to put little sticky labels on the bottom of each item so she knows how much she can legitimately ask for them when he dies  I think he was a little unimpressed, but I reckon she's just a good planner.
But as you say, with a large collection, it would be a huge task. I suppose it comes down to whether the thought of it all getting thrown away is enough to outweigh the effort it would take to make sure it doesn't. Personally, I'm not sure my nearest and dearest could be trusted to follow my instructions ;)
Will it to me! My Mom still lives in Wallingford. She'll come by and pick it up. Sorry, not implying any rush or anything. ;) But honestly I've always thought about this topic as well. Fire is another worry.

Omg i can't even belive you're posting this !! I had this same talk with my hubby about a week ago. I have a fairly extensive collection as well . My husband was like, what do i do with all this stuff if you go first ? I told him ( pretty firmly ) under no circumstance are you to throw it all away ! I told him if i die with in the next 10-15 yrs. find a fan site like this one and give it all away to the fans !! I want people that love Stevie as much as i do to have my things. Not some scavenger or ebay seller. I want my collection to be treasured as much as i have treasured it ! If i die when i am really old and there are no fan sites left, i told him to sell it on ebay and donate all the $ to one of my favorite charities. Have you ever thought about doing something like this with your collection ?
