View Full Version : Stevie and Lindsey could do it...

Frozen Love needs to be on the next Mac album.
After all these years, a remake would be so fabulous, I could barely contain myself.
Obviously, they are not going to tour by themselves as Buckingham Nicks, so, why not re record this song for old time's sake?

Lindsey just needs to agree to re-release Buckingham Nicks on CD...that would be enough for me.

I actually could see this happening the band decided the next Mac album would be the last one. It would seem to be a fitting full circle thing to do.

As much as I love Frozen Love, I would only want them to do it as a B-side or an extra for a deluxe edition. I just feel that no matter what they did with it, it would stick out like a sore thumb in the middle of a new album.

Worst idea ever. We already have the classic version. Why mess with it? With the mindset of Stevie and Lindsey's music these days, it wouldn't have that 70's sound and drive that the song needs, not to mention their voices.

Lindsey is the hold up? Doesn't seem that way in interviews. . . (and I'm not saying Stevie is the hold up either).

No need to re-record it. Though it should be re-released. And they should do some kind of new material as a duo at some point. And they should tour to promote both. And on that tour, they should do Frozen Love.

that's a perfect idea! I wish Stevie and Lindsey would tour together as Buckingham/Nicks...even if just in smaller venues!

I didn't mean to REPLACE the already perfect, first version. I should have clarified...
I meant, a full circle kind of thing, like Louie said in his post.
Maybe a Part 1, and Part 2 deal.
I would simply be interested to hear the 2011 take on Frozen Love, from these two.

My thoughts, exactly.
I mean, Mick already said something in an interview about FM basically evolving into Buckingham Nicks with hinself and John on percussion. I would at least like them to this song in a live show.
They both seemed to light up when Stevie sang two lines from the song, on Lindsey's Soundstage.

Some part of me may feel that that is Christine's sacrifice; in that she believes that B-N need the Mac to go on a journey that doesn't require her anymore.

That's my own fantasy life. And I read too much Henry James.

However, as per your observation about Mick's interview comments, that ain't a bad thing... I just wish that the concerts, albums were designed more in the style of BN which is built on two-part harmonies.

Well, for a while Stevie was saying Lindsey was the hold up, but then Lindsey said he was cool with it and that it was in some "vault" somewhere. He has also said that he thought releasing it "as is" would be the way to go but that management would probably want to do some kind of tour or special packaging and he said he was game with it. Others have said Keith Olsen was the problem and I've even heard it was too complicated to figure out who played on what tracks to make sure everyone got a paycheck. Really? That seems so absurd to me - those people were all credited on the album and other older albums have been re-released without all these complications.

Seriously, I think they are just waiting until they feel the timing is right. My only concern is that it will be too late. But, I would hope after all these years TPTB have a decent marketing strategy planned. The question is: How will the state of WB affect new releases?

At this point, I think that (and this is probably WISHFUL thinking, but still) they figure they've waited so long already, they might as well hold out on it until the very end. So I think when all is said and done with Fleetwood Mac and otherwise, they'll at last re-release Buckingham Nicks and the two of them will tour for it together, going out the way they came in.

We all know how much Lindsey likes his cycles.

The timing WOULD have been right in 1997-98, When Fleetwood Mac, and LB and SN were actually POPULAR mainstream sensations that were currently being nominated for Grammy awards, had a number 1 record, and getting lots of plays on Radio and Videos (when MtV and VH1 actually had music programming and not lame reality shows)

If they did it now it would get lost in the ether.

Several years ago Peter Paul and Mary had only two albums that had never seen the light of day on CD. One was finally released in around 1999 on Rhino. I guess it did not do good, because there was one more that was even older that was NEVER put on CD. ONe day though it suddenly appeared on ITunes. I think if BN appears anywhere it will be on iTunes. A physical hard copy is unlikely.

Same thing for lots of old movies. The costs of mastering, physical media, distribution, artwork, etc prevent many many old GREAT movies from selling. That is why attention is shifting toward "on demand" websites like NEtflix, and iTunes.

I think if they ever do rerelease BN, they should definitely re-record some of the tracks and record some other BN songs that weren't on the first album and a few new songs. Who cares if they just rerelease the same damn album on CD? It isn't like we don't already have those songs.

Well, they could remaster it so it's better quality.

But I WOULD like to see some bonus tracks, of maybe some acoustic performances of some of the songs or something now.

Plus, personally, I know the songs are out there... but I still for some reason like to actually buy the albums. I mean, don't get me wrong, I downloaded them and listen to them all the time, I would just love to be able to have legitimate hard copy of the CD.

Well, thanks to their three careers they have the opportunity to have three farewell tours/album releases: solo, mac, bn.

could be an interesting decade.

Oh I completely agree. I'd love to have a remastered version! However, I would be extremely disappointed if they took the time to do this and only remastered it. I feel like if they are going to take the time to do something with it, they should def give us something we don't yet have. Live versions, acoustic versions, or new studio versions would all float my boat!

You know, in a weird way, I think I almost always forget this  In my head, I think of them as all sexual tension and never as two people who, in their lives, have definitely slept with each other more times than I've slept with anyone at all. Weird (pointless) realization.

Come on. With this band? I feel like being someone who actively enjoys and pursues sex adds to the identification with the music

EXACTLY! I mean, what's wrong with having 2 versions of Frozen Love (oh and maybe some demos of it too...cause I bet you Lindsey has some old tapes that would make us all poo ourselves in sheer joy). Just saying.

I'm running off into pointless realization land with you for a second...hope you don't mind..

How well could anyone remember the details of events between someone they slept with 30 years ago? Or 20 years ago, or however many years ago that You (or another Ledgie) thinks it's been? I mean, long nets of white cloud the memory ya know. But lordy what I wouldn't give to know Lindseys...ummmm... pants size.

Loading the bus and heading off into TMI land now...

Can older ledgies chime in and help us out? The longest I could possibly think back is five years ago, and that's still pretty clear....but that's five years, not thirty although we all know that we're really only going back to '97/'98 ahem anyway moving on
