I tried to get mine down to 18. As I think 18 songs would be the ideal number for the length of her career:

In Your Dreams
Gold and Braid
Talk to Me (a slowed down version)
Wild Heart
One more big time rock and roll star
Landslide
Moonlight
Sisters of the Moon
Bella Donna
Rooms on Fire
Wide Sargasso Sea
Stand Back
Garbo
Beauty and the Beast
Ooh my love
Planets of the Universe
Edge of 17
(Encore)
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You
Italian Summer

That's just me...

Perform IYD in its entirety. No old songs.

That would be awesome, but then the show would only be about an hour long... I want more.

All of IYD would be awesome! It would be so cool if she would announce that she loves the new stuff so much she is performing the whole thing so don't shout out any request and deal with it bitches :] unfortunately she cares too much about the casual fan response :distress: oh well in my dreams...

plus

How can some of you throw these random new songs into the setlist when we've never even heard them? Are you basing it on the sound of the song title?

I think people are basing it on the opinions of others David Wild etc. that have heard the songs.

Exactly - it's impossible to create a "In Your Dreams" setlist w/out having heard the new material. With that said, I'll play along anyway but only adding in "Sercet Love."

Whole Lotta Trouble
Blue Denim
Talk To Me
Angel
Dreams
Secret Love
Ooh My Love
Gold Dust Woman
Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around

~ Acoustic / Stripped Down Set ~
Sisters of the Moon (piano version)
It’s Only Love (with Sheryl making a few guest appearances)
Leather & Lace
~ End of Acoustic / Stripped Down Set ~

Rooms on Fire
Stand Back
Planets of the Universe (Stevie’s “Go Your Own Way”)
Edge of Seventeen
-
Fall from Grace
-
Rhiannon (Final encore) closer to how she used to do it in the early 80’s

This is somewhat of a dream set / realistic set. I know some have tired of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” but I do not want to hear I Need To Know or Rock N Roll, I’m tired and over those songs. If she’s going to do a cover it might as well be one that was a hit for her. The set needs to have some hits in there obviously. I also feel “Fall from Grace” has always been misplaced in her set, always. It’s not a great opening track in my opinion. It’s too fast, too hurried sounding – basically, it is too much too soon, which is the same reason it’s not good after a band introduction. If she must continue to do this song, the first encore is the best fit, IMO. Also, Rhiannon is the ultimate Stevie song. There is no better place for it then the final encore. Think back to the “In Concert” video and how great that was.

Dream setlist? Not based at all on reality? OK. I'm leaving out most of the standards, since I've seen & heard them plenty.

In no order:

Bella Donna
Kind of Woman
Outside the Rain
Wild Heart
Nightbird w/ Lori
Talk To Me
Rooms on Fire
Doing the Best That I Can
Juliet
Trouble in Shangri La
If You Ever Did Believe
Angel
Thrown Down
Edge (never gets old for me)
Stand Back (ditto)

3 or 4 new songs. No covers.

Well we've heard parts of Moonlight, Annabel Lee, Wide Sargasso Sea and Italian Summer. Lots of people love these songs already just from the clips which were chosen really well. I already think Wide Sargasso Sea is the coolest Stevie song ever just going by a 15 second clip :blob2:

O.k. I've sat on this for a couple days and here's what I came up with. I cannot pick the IYD songs I want in the set list util I hear the entire album so I'll make them generic:

Rooms on Fire
Dreams
One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star
Everybody Finds Out
IYD #1
Street Angel
Sable on Blond
I Can't Wait
Storms
IYD #2
Stand Back
Bombay Sapphires
Gold Dust Woman
Alice
The Nightmare
Seven Wonders
Nightbird
How Still My Love
IYD #3
Beauty and the Beast
Gypsy
Bella Donna
Love Is
Edge of 17
IYD #4

A 3 hour set, yes.

My dream set for this tour? Since we got 6 new songs on the TISL tour, I'm going to go ahead and add 6 to my dream list (even though last year she said she'd only do 3 new ones...but things change, right?) I'm just going to write "new song" since I haven't heard the album yet.

1. Rooms On Fire (because I really think this song needs to come back to the set)
2.New Song
3. Dreams (just to get it out of the way early on. ;) )
4. Gold Dust Woman
5. Sorcerer (I know most of you hate this one, but like my screen name, it's still a fav)
6. Planets Of The Universe (because IMO this should have stayed instead of FFG)
7. New Song
8. Stand Back (cause she'll never let it go)
9. New Song
10. New Song
11. Think About It (my fav off Bella Donna...she could TOTALLY revisit this again)
12. New Song
13. Rhiannon (cause she'll never let this one go, either)
14. Edge Of Seventeen
ENCORES
15. Sisters Of The Moon (in our dreams, right?)
16. New Song
17. Sable On Blonde (see parenthesis for number 15)

My ideal In Your Dreams set would be about 18 songs, ( in something close to this order). As someone posted earlier in this thread, the choices of material from the new album are "tenative and hopeful" at this time without having heard the entire songs.

Moonlight
Leather and Lace (duet with Lori and Sharon)
If Anyone Falls
Nightbird
Annabel Lee
Planets of The Universe
Outside The Rain (no segue into Dreams, by itself)
Rhiannon
Talk to Me
Wide Sargasso Sea
Rooms On Fire
Candlebright
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?
No Spoken Word
You Wreck Me
Bombay Sapphires

encore:
Gypsy
Landslide

It would be nice to see her retire Dreams and Stand Back from her set list. In particular Dreams. I would like to remember those songs the way they were....in the past.

oooh ... outside the rain and dreams for an encore. that's an awesome idea :)

i wont post new songs because i haven't heard the new songs ...
but i would love to hear her open with Rooms on Fire and put Ooh My Love somewhere in there.

i'd also like her to bring Waddy, Sharon, and Lori down for 3 "acoustic" style songs ...
my choice for those would be..
Talk To Me
Leather and Lace
Bella Donna

a song she'd never do but would be another great opener or an encore song -- Sometimes It's A Bitch.

a whole other great concept i'd like to see her do is to go back from the beginning ... picking a song from each solo album and intermingling it between other classic "must do" numbers for her and new songs ... kind of putting it together like a big story.

I, with a few other Ledgies, asked Waddy this in Vegas a few years ago. He said Stevie doesn't want to perform songs from that part of her life, since she was/is not happy about who she was at the time. So I'm guessing from Tango-Street Angel, we are not going to get anything anymore.

The whole idea of this thread is just insane at this time. How people can randomly put song titles in their wishlist without hearing them is crazy. This thread just possibly couldn't wait one more month? I have feeling if Stevie plays 4 new songs they will be Secret Love, Moonlight, Italian Summer and Wide Sargasso Sea since they all have videos and she likes to play the videos on the screen behind her. I'm thinking thats what she will do 4-5. I know she did 6 from TISL (7 eventually with Love Is) but I doubt she'll do that. I hope I'm wrong tho.

Now will she keep all 3 of her TISL songs. I really can't see her doing almost as many from her previous album as her current album but who knows. I think Sorcerer almost HAS to go. Love Is just became her closing song I can't see it being replaced for at least a year. And Fall From Grace just could act as the new Outside the Rain (second last from TISL subbing for second last on Bella Donna) but Sorcerer while I love it live, just has to be removed to make room. Moonlight will fit perfectly in its spot, hell they both use the line Lady From the Mountain.

Based on what we've heard so far, I think Stevie will have to add a fiddle player to her live band in order to pull off some of these new songs. And I think it would also totally freshen up the old songs too. Let's hope! I think she will probably add five new songs to the core set: "Dreams," "Rhiannon," "Gold Dust Woman," "Stand Back," "Edge of Seventeen," "Landslide," "Love Is," and "Sorcerer." The other two will probably be "Outside the Rain" and one cover song (probably "Rock and Roll" because she likes to have at least one hard rocker in the set).

Okay, so now that we're not even ten shows into the H&S Tour, can we at least acknowledge some nice changes she has made in this short period of time?

-One brand new song.
-No cover songs (after Tampa).
-Three duets (so far, and counting).
-Changed up set list order.

Baby steps, surely, but moving in the right direction.

This is terrible news.

In reality, not performing songs from Tango is no big deal, although When I See You Again could be great live. It's mostly the lack of Street Angel material that bothers me - it's not like the majority of the songs from the album were written during 'that time'. If she's not happy with the way they turned out she could always rework them slightly and still take them on the road. Love Is Like River and Listen To the Rain could be so great live, paired up with Fall From Grace. She could take Destiny and Enchanted and kind of mash them up into one song medley - or add Thousand Days or Kick It into her live sets - both would be great. Since she loves cover songs so much, why not perform her own released covers - Just Like A Woman for example.

Stevie's a strange bird, for sure. I can't think of another artist who ignores a decade of their own work when touring.

I'm more perturbed at the lack of material from Rock a Little and The Other Side of the Mirror. There's nothing from Street Angel that I'm dying for her to do.

I'd love to hear Alice and/or Juliet from the Mirror album, and The Nightmare & Talk to Me from Rock a Little.

I kinda wish she'd do the unthinkable and mix up some of her Fleetwood Mac selections. It's more of a given that when she's out with the Mac she would play the "classics" but I wish in her solo world she'd explore some of the more obscure band stuff.

I won't try to pick the new songs, but I'll just include three new songs in my set. And I'd absolutely love for Stevie to open with a rocker off the new album. Screw the obvious choice of Stand Back, Gold Dust Woman, Outside the Rain/Dreams...start with something new and fresh!

Me too. Didn't she recently say that TOSOTM was her favorite record even tho her dad said it was probably her worst? And she said she did most of that record before the klonopin really hit her. I can understand why she doesn't pull any rarities out from TOSOTM or Tango, but I think Rooms On Fire and Whole Lotta Trouble should be an exception to her rule.

Not quite. You have it backwards. Stevie's dad told her OSOTM was his least favorite record. And the last time I heard Stevie speak about Mirror was her calling it her "Magic" record on Behind The Music in 1998. She has never referred to it as her favorite record that I know of, not even when it was released. Thats not something that Stevie will usually go on record as saying anyway. The statement of hers that rings close, is when she was calling TISL her masterpiece some years back, and then last year hawking In Your Dreams as possibly going down in history as her best work.

My memory has gone to hell. I could have swore she said it was his favorite.

I remember her referring to it as her "magic" record, and not much else.

I haven't read anything where she recently spoke about OSOTM. A long time ago she claimed that OSOTM was her dad's favorite record.

When I say recent, I mean 1998-2007. I swear there was some quote where she said her father told her The Other Side of the Mirror was the worst album she had ever done, but she said she really loved that album and it was her favorite/one of her favorites and there was some really great stuff on it because most of it was written before the really bad klonopin years. Does anybody else remember this quote?

Planets of the Universe (Stevie’s “Go Your Own Way”)

I actually think "Fall From Grace" is Stevie's "Go Your Own Way", both thematically and musically.

I think it was that 1996 heart benefit when she was introducing Rooms on Fire. someone would have to check on that though. the concert she did in someones back yard or something like that. but yeah... i do recall her saying that her dad thought it was her worst record!!

This isn't the quote I was talking about, but here is one:

"Lucky me, I had written the songs for The Other Side of the Mirror [1989] before the Klonopin kicked in. I was very happy with them, and still am. I really love that record. Somewhere out on that tour the stuff kicked in and brought me to my knees."

The whole idea of this thread is just insane at this time. How people can randomly put song titles in their wishlist without hearing them is crazy. This thread just possibly couldn't wait one more month?

No. It couldn't. The beauty about a thread is that it can (and will) change as time goes on.

You may say insane. But there are at least 54 people (I think thats how many replies to the post there are) for whom the thread was started at just the right time. ;)

Just read this article and had to go dig this old thread up! I knew I wasn't crazy!

My favorite song of yours is "Ooh My Love," from 1989. People always forget that one.

That's one of my favorites too. In fact, The Other Side of the Mirror is probably my favorite album. Those songs were written right before the Klonopin kicked in. "In the shadow of the castle walls" — that song was very important to me. I was lucky those songs were written when they were, before that nasty tranquilizer. It was a really intense record. People don't talk about that record much, but it was different from all the others. It was a moment in time. I had gotten away from the cocaine in 1986. I spent a year writing those songs. I was drug-free and I was happy.

Well, she's clearly on record now saying TOSOTM is "probably [her] favorite." :) I'm sure she spoke very highly of TISL because it was a real return to form and it got good reviews, and she definitely thinks that IYD was really good and that she and Stewart write great songs together.

Perform IYD in its entirety. No old songs.

Indeed:thumbsup:

And after an intermission, some, if not all of the 24 Karat Gold songs.
