It is like the iTunes version of Facebook. I never use it, but I will follow Stevie for ****s and giggles. And lmao surprise they say? I'm sure it is either the Secret Love video or the album is going to become available for pre-order thru iTunes. I'm not holding my breath for either one tho.

If that's what it is, which is pretty likely since if WBR released another video, it would be through YouTube again, then i'm hoping it's one of the rock songs on the album...preferably the title track.

Yeah it wouldn't make sense to release a new single before you even released the video for the first one. Our luck tho it will be something stupid like more Rod Stewart dates.

Exactly! Looks like I might have been spot on about WB holding the video until roughly one month before IYD drops. :)
Our luck tho it will be something stupid like more Rod Stewart dates.
That's another distinct possibility for sure... they could even take the show around the world. It's also possible they might announce true solo dates for this summer so Stevie can actively promote IYD.

I hope that the next single is not Annabelle Lee. I hope she puts her best foot forward. The song is fine, but it would not cause me to buy an album. I'm waiting for For What's Worth, In Your Dreams, Wide Sargossa Sea, Cheaper then Free or Italian Summer. I'm dying to hear those. I'm sure Annabelle Lee is better, but cannot see that doing anything.

Not too certain about that since the people that have heard all of Moonlight are indicating that it starts very slowly and builds and is rather long..I'm thinking it is the "Lady from the Mountain " section which I love but would be a very odd single for the uniniated ..the catchy Planets/Edge soundalike snippet we are hearing may be only a small part.Annabel Lee's production surprisngly sounds like punchy and catchy late 1970s socal rock ..similar to the "Long Run"IMO..a Poe poem set to music would make an odd single as well though..wish we could hear a bit of the title track.

With the way she raves about Italian Summer, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the next single. Taylor Swift, in her horribly autotuned way, has brought ballady type songs back to radio. This is what I'm hoping for anyhow.

I'm hoping for Wide Sargasso Sea (at least that's what it seems to have been going by what everyone else here has said) It was the third song in the promo video where she had the pink in her hair and had the tambo. It was the first song I was drawn to the most in the video, I can't wait to hear more of it. :blob2:

Surprise is she's pregnant & Dave filmed the sonogram of the fetus twirling in a top hat while leading a tiny horse fetus and warbling Poe in babytalk. No doubt we'll complain that the fetus looks far too airbrushed. ;)
I do hope that, whatever it is, it's a good surprise. As someone said, it's probably just the SL video, which will be fine at this point.
I remember back in '97, Mick kept promising a HUGE surprise on the upcoming tour, & fans went overboard with guessing what it might be. Turned out to be "Farmer's Daughter" as an encore. Let's just say I'd gotten up the hopes of a number of friends who bought tickets - not diehard fans or anything - and they were less than amused by the unveiling of the "big surprise."

Follow her? If it's anything like following up with the Nicks Fix Q&A updates, I'll pass. If anyone's diligent, please post all the update here on The Ledge. In fact, um, Stevie, since you are totally getting into the internet, maybe give John McVie a buzz, and he'll tell you how to join The Ledge! Or maybe he'll post FOR you. Boy, howdy, you'll have a following. :woohoo:

If you already use Itunes, then definitely sign up to Ping. But if you're not on Itunes anyway, there's really no point to get it just for Ping. The hard drive space the Itunes software consumes and the constant update nudges you will get from Apple will drive you bonkers.
Ping is not fully social. It's not as if you can post on someone's "wall" like Facebook or carry on threads of discussion. You get news about the artists you follow and you can read reviews. But it's not comparable to twitter or Facebook -- or even the dying Myspace.

I've only heard the little snippet of it that's in the sizzle reel, but it's already stuck in my head. They should have released it as the first single.

Also if it's Cheaper than Free to cross-promote... i'm bummed cuz isn't that the last song on the album. last songs shouldn't be pre-release singles.

I think it's a video... Normally you catch wind of new singles before hand.. Plus I don't think Secret Love has run it's course yet... Dropping a new single right now might kill Secret Love at radio... But you never know.
If it were the video, are they going to sell it on itunes? Would seem weird to debut a video there unless they were going to sell it. Would actually be a smart move if they did sell the video and debut it on itunes, then the next day on Oprah show the video on the program.

If the IYD version of "Cheaper than Free" is released as a single then I'm totally at a loss to imagine where on radio it would get airplay..It sounds like 1950s/1960s country western which is fine but country radio does not play that anymore and of course rule out rock .AC triple AA stations etc.

Idk, theblackbirddiaries.com says it will come out May 2011. And I think it is the SL video too, but why they are releasing it in iTunes baffles me. It seems you would want people to see the video and spread it around, not make them buy it. That is why I think it may be a new single.

I'm sorry - it doesn't sound THAT country! I like it "ok" - but it sounds like Nashville cats backing Dave Stewart and Stevie Nicks and nothing else. I'm not able to compare it to any other country music and I've been an avid fan and listener all my life. Maybe once we hear the entire song ...
Carter Family - 1920's and 1930's (original), Hank Williams - 1940's primarily (died in 12-31-52)... :sorry:

Completely agreed. If they're looking for a way to promote the album in a contemporary and eye-catching way, I think releasing "Cheaper Than Free" as a single is a big mistake.... especially now that we know how many other promising tracks lay hidden in that record.

That makes zero sense to me unless they're releasing it solely to Country stations. Secret Love is still climbing in the A/C and AAA radio charts (it's about to break the top 20 on both). Warner Bros hasn't even released the music video they filmed for Secret Love yet. The only way they'd release another single from Stevie at this point is if it were in a non-competing market: country stations. Which is possible... but just doesn't seem very Warner Bros esque to me. They're pretty lackadaisical when it comes to modern Stevie. I doubt Stevie would let another full song out before the album drops, either. She seems pretty intent on keeping the whole album classified until it's release.

Well, they are the same except for style. Usually, a different version is released for country and pop. Even the Dixie Chicks had pop version of Landslide that was a little different than country. Doesn't matter. The song is on both their albums. It could be the Secret Love video, but in my opinion, that should of dropped already. Wonder if its going to be released now.

The problem is, Stevie and Dave are not on the same record label. I'm sure Dave's label wouldn't pay to release Stevie's version of the song to pop stations, and Stevie's label most likely has no interest in killing Secret Love in the water while it's still on the rise.
So yes, it's possible Dave is releasing his version of Cheaper Than Free with a video (very possible), but I doubt Stevie's label has anything to do with it.
I've been wondering myself lately if they've decided not to drop the Secret Love video. I forecasted they'd wait no sooner than a month before IYD drops to release the video. But it kinda seems do or die time to release the video now.

Oh yes I remember that. It was that awful interference from labels that led to that cd being raped. There was just one COO that was big but one of the singles tanked,I think it was "When" ,then they got the idea to do pop remixes that ended up so successful they remarketed the entire album with the pop versions. The promotion got drawn out over 3 years,it was ridiculous.
A similar thing happened with The Corrs "Talk On Corners" to the point where the final issued CD was unrecognisable. Blame the UK labels:lol:

Yeah it's always been a favourite. The original release of October 1997 was the 13 track one,the first reissue of Summer 98 had their cover of Dreams inserted as track 3 or 4.The cover remained the same.
Then the 'singles' happened in remixed pop form so the label restyled the whole album with remixes and tacked a new "Runaway" onto it and changed the cover to a bluey/green polished style sleeve.
Unsurprisingly it sold bucketloads AND if that wasn't enough there were also US and Japan editions, phew!
Still a good album either way

A friend of mine told me that he's bought new releases before at 9pm monday night (pacific time) for a tuesday release. I wonder if that's a possibility for this new release(whatever it is). I hope so!! :)
